Mama sent Nanaw (who was out at the little house) a series of photos to show what Chase’s adventures were on Saturday. With Mama and Daddy, he went for a walk, then had lunch at Hooter’s, then went to Home Depot, then came home and changed into his jeans shorts.

Biggest adventure day! First, Chase, Mama and Nanaw visited Aunty Alice’s wonderful, huge house in Webster Groves. Then Chase, Mama and Nanaw went to The Mills in North County so Nanaw could see it. They shopped at the Children’s Place, Burlington Coat Factory, Marshalls, the Cardinals’ Store, and other places. They saw Cousin Kristie at the Great American Cookie place and then later went back there for a cookie and a cheesecake brownie. They had lunch at Chevy’s – Chase slept while Mama ate chicken fajitas and Nanaw had a stuffed burrito, Even though they’d walked a lot that day, they took Sam for a walk when they got home.

Chase was better today – at one point his temperature was 98.9. He and Nanaw went for a walk in the morning and Nanaw got lots of smiles. He didn’t eat very much – just two or three ounces at a feeding – and he slept a lot again. Sam’s toy of the day was Fozzie sheep, one of the rare sheep at the Southerland home that is not named Jason.

Tuesday, March 27, 2012

Today Chase had his first bout of illness. He was running a fever and doing a heart-breaking moaning. Mama and Nanaw took him to Dr. Charles who said Chase had a virus and could take Tylenol to help with the fever. He had a fever of 100.7 and weighed 13 pounds 11 ounces. Dr. Charles gave him some grape Tylenol, which Chase seemed to enjoy. When Daddy got home from work, Chase was better and didn’t have a fever so Daddy, Mama, Chase, Sam and Nanaw went for a really long walk to see the park by the library. Later in the evening, Daddy and Mama tried to give him cherry Tylenol but Chase spit it out all over Daddy. So Daddy went to Walmart to buy the grape flavor and Pedialite.

Chase and Nanaw went for a nice long walk, and Chase slept. In fact, he slept most of the day -- Mama said he needed to rest up from all his excitement and many visitors over the weekend. One of his big events of the day was the messiest mega diaper of all times. Sam's toy of the day was the chicken, and Chase seemed to enjoy the noise that it makes -- he many want it to be his toy.

Chase had more company on Sunday: Uncle Mike, aunt Becky, Nanaw, cousins Joe, Nichole and Natalie. They went for a walk, and then spent time watching basketball on Daddy's big TV. Mama and Nanaw took Chase out in the back yard with Sam and put a diaper on his head like a babuska.

Also at the party were Grandma Pat, Uncle Will-Bill, Aunt Patty, Aunt Becca, Uncle Stan, Uncle George, Aunt Sharon and lots of cousins. Nanaw came to visit before the party and on her way, took a picture of the gnomes, even though Mama told her not to.

Chase had a day of lots of laughs and smiles, as shown in the first two photos. He listened to Mama's recorded book, and Nanaw read "Miss Spider's New Car" to him. Chase and Nanaw went for two walks today, and after the second one, we discovered that Sam had chewed on the toothbrush that Daddy received from the dentist yesterday. This is Sam's way of expressing dismay at not being included on the walk. Sam's toy of the day was a spider.
