Happy Halloween! Mama took the day off work to have a day of adventure with Chase and Nanaw. The first stop was Sports Authority to get a Cardinals baseball cap for his Halloween costume. The next stop was Dollar Tree for flash cards and other fun things. Next was Papa Murphy’s for a pumpkin-shaped pizza, then Walmart and finally home for Chase’s nap. After a yummy pizza dinner, mama dressed Chase in his Chris Carpenter jersey, and Daddy put the eye-black under his eyes – very cute. Unfortunately, it was raining outside, but Mama and Daddy took an umbrella and took Chase trick or treating while Nanaw sat in the garage to hand out candy to the trick or treaters. When they came back, Mama and Nanaw took Chase out again while Daddy gave out candy. Chase wore his baseball cap and kept it on to keep the rain off his head – Nanaw held an umbrella over his head. Chase was absolutely adorable, holding Mama’s or Nanaw’s hand and going from house to house, trying to say "trick or treat" and then saying "thank you" for the candy. One house had a scary display in their garage that frightened Chase, and he started sobbing. So no more scary displays. All in all, it was a wonderful Halloween and a delightful time was had by all, in spite of the rain.

Today, Chase and Nanaw again went to help Mary the church secretary with her e-mail. Once again, Chase was charming and delightful with Mary while Nanaw worked on the e-mail. For awhile, he looked at the flashcards on Nanaw’s iPod, and he started repeating the names of the objects on the cards – something he hadn’t done before. Mary claims he even said excavator. Next, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart where Nanaw bought the Monsters University DVD as Chase’s Halloween present. Then they took a walk and then it was time for school. Chase watched one of the Elmo DVDs from the library and went through the cardboard flashcards in the box and said the names of a few of the cards. Today was Mama and Daddy’s third wedding anniversary, and Chase went out to dinner with them to Outback, and Mama sent photos to Nanaw. Mama said Chase got a little fussy in the high chair but was happier when he got to sit next to Daddy on the booth bench.'

In the morning, right before it was time to go to Babygarten at the Columbia Library, Chase fell asleep so he didn’t get to go. After his nap, Chase and Nanaw went for a walk in Nanaw’s subdivision. Then they went on errands. The main errand was going to Schnucks to buy Ding Dongs for Mama. Then they went to the Telegraph Road library and checked out lots of DVDs, books on tape and books, all for Chase. At school, Chase watched the Scout phonics DVD and played with the wooden animal puzzles from his house. He was able to name some of the animals or make the sound that they make.

Chase and Nanaw took a morning walk in Nanaw’s subdivision before going on errands. First, they went to visit Sam and let him out. Then they went to the Telegraph Road library and checked out lots of books and DVDs for Chase. One of them is a book on tape about Clifford’s birthday party that they’ve listened to about a half dozen times already. In the afternoon, Chase took a bath in the deep tub and seemed to have a great time. In the evening, Mama had a sports party to watch the Cardinals and the Rams. Guests included Uncle Mike, cousin Joe, Aunt Becca, Uncle Stan, Uncle Will-Bill and Nanaw. Chase seemed to have a wonderful time running around the back yard for several hours. He spent a lot of time around the firepit and everyone was careful to not let him get too close.

Sunday was a sports spectacular at Chase’s house. He watched football in the afternoon with Mama and Daddy and Cardinals’ baseball in the evening. For the afternoon viewing, everyone but Sam went downstairs. Mama said Chase likes to go down there and play with his sports arena toys. Nanaw came for a delicious pot roast dinner and brought cream puffs for dessert. Earlier, Daddy went to Bass Pro for fishing equipment, and he brought home a bag of yummy kettle corn, and Chase ate lots of that. Chase and Nanaw played in Chase’s room with Mama while she folded Chase’s laundry and put it away.

Chase had two major adventures today. The first was going to cousin Zander's football game in Wentzville with Daddy. Daddy says Chase seemed to really enjoy it, mainly because he ran around for an hour and a half. Nanaw came to visit Chase in the afternoon and take photos. Chase was in a cranky mood, and nothing we did seemed to make him happy. While Daddy went to church, Nanaw chased Chase up and down the hall and that seemed to entertain him. One time he brought a pair of Daddy's shoes out into the hall and put them on and then tried to walk in them -- very cute. Chase had his second adventure of the day in the evening when he, Mama and Daddy visited Aunt Alice and Uncle Chris to celebrate Uncle Chris's birthday. It was going to be an outside party, with a bonfire and the television outside so they could watch the Cardinals' win the third World Series game.

Today's adventure was Clayton Laptime, and Chase wore his excellent Elmo shirt and vest -- very cute. Before Laptime began, Miss Jeannie was blowing bubbles, which Chase and the other boys and girls chased and popped. Chase was very attentive during the stories and songs and did a lot of the motions and actions. During play time, he read the Spot and Mommy book, played with the quack-quack book and zoomed around with the toy fire truck and police car. After Chase's nap, he and Nanaw went to let Sam out. When Chase came home from Nanaw's, the whole family, including Nanaw and the stuffed Clydesdale Grant, took a walk in Chase's neighborhood. For dinner, Chase had chicken McNuggets from McDonald's. Mama gave Chase some ranch dressing for dipping, and took a picture of Chase dipping McNuggets in the ranch dressing.
