Chase’s adventure for today was going to Babygarten at the Columbia Library. He did a lot of running around during the song time but sat on the rug during book time and toy time. The other parents are so nice and understanding about Chase’s constant running around. After today, Chase only has two more times at Babygarten. It ends on April 14, and when it starts up again, Chase will be too old for the program – he’s really too old for it now but he does seem to like going. Miss Annette says she may start a program for older children. Today was opening day for the Cardinals so Chase and Nanaw both wore their Chris Carpenter baseball jerseys. Chase took a long, 3 ½ hour nap, and he and Nanaw watched the baseball game when he got up. For his afternoon snack, Nanaw was going to feed Chase a container of yogurt but he insisted on feeding himself, throwing a mini baby fit until Nanaw gave him the yogurt and the spoon. He did a good job of feeding himself and only got a little yogurt on his tee shirt.

Late Sunday afternoon, Chase had a bubble extravaganza in his back yard, and Nanaw came to visit and stay for dinner. Chase has several special bubble machines: one that makes huge bubbles, a bubble gun and a puppy that blows bubbles. Before Nanaw arrived, Chase ran into the fence and cut his forehead. He refused to have a band-aid put on it. Dinner was delicious steak and corn on the cob grilled by Daddy. Chase didn’t eat much of that – he fed himself a container of yogurt and a plate full of strawberries. After dinner, Daddy, Mama, Chase, Sam and Nanaw went for a walk.

Chase had a couple of adventures today. His first one was a trip out to Wentzville with Daddy to visit Grandma Pat. Daddy says he did a lot of running around, and he also got a new light-up ball from Grandma Pat. In the late afternoon, Mama and Daddy brought Chase to Nanaw’s house while they went to Fairview Heights to have dinner with Uncle Chris and Aunt Kristen. Chase and Nanaw went to the Telegraph Road Library to play with the computers but unfortunately the one without a password wasn’t available – another little boy was using it the whole time Chase was there. So Nanaw let Chase play with her iPad, which was a perfectly fine substitute or so Chase seemed to think. Chase had popcorn chicken and ranch dip for dinner and he got dip all over Thomas the Train. When it was getting close to bedtime, Chase and Nanaw went to Chase’s house, and Nanaw put his skeleton pajamas on him. When Mama and Daddy came home, they talked about the library, and Mama said they’ll pay to get a library card for Chase so he can use the other computers if the open one isn’t available.

Chase had two adventures this morning. The first one was going to Goodwill with Nanaw to buy VCRs and toys. Nanaw bought two VCRs, and three toys for Chase: a little house, a clock and a Thomas the Train. Chase seemed delighted with his toys. Next, Chase and Nanaw went to the Telegraph Road Library so Chase could play with the computers, puzzles and toys they have there for little children. The first thing he did was rearrange the magnetic alphabet letters on the magnetic white board. Then Nanaw set him up at the computer, and he really seemed to like that. Nanaw put little headphones on him that had animals for ear pieces. Amazingly enough, the computer had a touch screen and Chase switched between using the mouse and touching the screen to make things happen. He played with the computer for quite awhile and didn’t want to leave. Nanaw had to give him an iPod to play with in order to get him out of the library – he loves his technology! Nanaw checked out a "Book Bundle" of toddler dog books for Chase.

Chase’s first adventure today was an early morning visit to Nanaw’s dentist. Chase sat in his stroller and played with the iPod while Nanaw was in the dentist chair. Chase’s next adventure was Tot Time at the Columbia Library. At first, Chase behaved well, sitting in a chair and listening to the songs and story. Then he decided he was ready to run around the room, and he got fussy when Nanaw tried to stop him. So Nanaw took him into an alcover and let him run around until it was time for crafts. Today’s craft was making a frog face with a long red tongue. Chase seems to enjoy doing the crafts although right now he just mostly draws on them with pencils and crayons. After Chase’s nap, he and Nanaw went to Walmart. It was really windy outside, and the wind blowing on his face and in his hair made Chase laugh.

Chase and Nanaw had a short day together because Nanaw had a doctor’s appointment in the afternoon. In the morning, Chase and Nanaw played in the living room with two of his train engines, and they sang the Choo-Choo song they learned at Babygarten. Then they read the two Spot books Mama sent along in Chase’s bag. She also sent the stuffed Spot puppy so he got to hear the stories also. Before Chase’s nap, Nanaw put Chase and Tee-Tee outside in the stroller so he could watch while Nanaw swept the garage. After his nap, Chase and Nanaw spent time playing with toys in his room.

Chase’s adventure today was going to Laptime at the Telegraph Road Library. He sat on Nanaw’s lap at least part of the time but then started wiggling and wriggling around so Nanaw let him down. As usual, he headed for the coloring table and did some coloring. Unfortunately, he also did some running around the room during the song and story time but thankfully he didn’t bump into anyone. He’s always very careful not to run into anyone when he’s running around, so that’s a good thing. He played with the balls and the blocks and seemed to have a good time. After his nap, Chase and Nanaw played with his toys in his room. He played with two train engines from the big train set downstairs and sang the "Choo-Choo" song from Babygarten very cute.

Monday, March 24, 2014

Chase’s adventure today was going to Babygarten at the Columbia Library and wearing his new shoes that light up with red lights. Chase did his usual running around except for the airplane song where he wanted Nanaw to lift him up and zoom him around. Chase and Nanaw took a road trip to Mercy Hospital to find the building where Nanaw has an appointment on Wednesday. Nanaw let Chase play with her iPod so he didn’t fall asleep during the ride – he fell asleep anyway but took a long nap when they got home. Nanaw went to Chase’s house for dinner. First, Mama, Daddy¸ Chase, Sam and Nanaw went for a walk in the snow. Mama made chicken stir fry that was delicious, and Nanaw had two servings. After dinner, Chase played with his new musical coloring toy.
