Today was Mama and Daddy’s annual Labor Day party. Mama thinks there will be at least 45 people there. When Nanaw arrived, Chase was playing on the steps that lead down into the basement. Usually the steps are covered with plywood to protect Chase from falling down but Daddy removed the plywood for the party. And of course, that was Chase’s favorite place, and he spent a great deal of the party running up and down the steps. Someone (a lot of the time it was Nanaw) was always watching him because it wasn’t a safe activity. Chase’s friend Jackson was there, and the boys seemed to have a good time playing together. Cessie played a lot with Chase, and it was so cute to watch – she’s such a good little mother. The party was very successful, and everyone seemed to have a really good time – especially Chase.

Nanaw came to visit Chase on Saturday morning before she went to Aspenhof. Chase was watching a Thomas the Train movie, and Mama and Nanaw watched with him. Chase was also playing with his trains, and Nanaw played with him. Mama was very excited because the Thomas movie had Cranky Crane in it, one of her favorite characters. Mama asks Chase what he wants for Christmas from Santa Mama, and Chase always asks for Cranky Crane. Mama was also excited about her latest purchase: an Amazon Kindle Fire. She used the last of her $1000 award for being one of the team members of the year at Wells. She’s going to get some Thomas apps for Chase for the Kindle Fire. Mama went to the baseball game in the afternoon with Uncle Mike and members of his family. Daddy and Chase stayed home; Chase napped, and Daddy worked on the yard for tomorrow’s Labor Day party.

Chase and Nanaw went for an early morning walk. Chase took along a book and a cup of milk. On the walk, Chase and Nanaw saw some deer and Nanan took a picture. After the walk, Chase and nanaw went to Waterloo Walmart, and Chase rode on Dino. Nanaw took Chase to the Thomas area in the toy department, and they found a Thomas water tower with a Thomas and train track so Nanaw bought it for Chase. When they got home, Nanaw put the track together for Chase to play with. Later in the morning, Chase and Nanaw went downstairs so that Chase could play with the renovated Thomas train table. In the afternoon, Mama and Daddy came to pick up Chase, and Mama gave him a stuffed Percy that she bought at Walmart. They were all going to see Jackson and Aunt Jen and Uncle Joe for a Wing Fest in Fairview Heights. Mama sent Nanaw a "selfie" she says Chase took of them with a skull face painted on Chase’s cheek – very cute.

Mama took the day off work today so that Nanaw could attend the retirees’ luncheon at Edward Jones. In the morning, Nanaw went to visit Chase. After Chase finished his breakfast of toast and peach preserves that Aunt Becky made, Chase, Mama, Sam and Nanaw went for a walk in Chase’s neighborhood. When they got home from their walk, they all went for a drive-by to see Aunt Becca’s and Uncle Stan’s new house. It’s very nice, and Mama is very happy for them. While Nanaw went to her luncheon, Mama took Chase to Walmart, and he got to ride on Elmo and horsey. Nanaw was very happy about that because it was their usual day to go to Walmart. Nanaw had a really good time at the luncheon; she got to sit at a table with her friend Jello shot Jackie, and a former managing partner and the current managing partner.

Chase and Nanaw went for an early morning walk, and Chase took one of his big Thomas books with him on the walk. After breakfast, they went to Barnes & Noble for story time and playing with the Thomas table. As usual, Chase wanted to go directly to the Thomas table. He wasn’t too good about sharing the trains with the other children. Nanaw will have to work with him on that. Mama and Nanaw are also hoping that when the goes to pre-school, interacting with other little boys and girls will help socialize him and teach him to share. When Nanaw got him ready to leave, he wanted to go to story time instead of leaving. He went up on the state with Miss Christine and the other boys and girls to sing songs. In the afternoon, Mama picked up Chase and Nanaw and they went shopping at Target. It had rained, and before he got in the car, Mama let him run through a big muddy puddle. In the car, he put on his Mickey Mouse hat long enough for Nanaw to take a photo. Mama bought Chase animal flash cards, and Chase and Nanaw played with them on the way home. As a surprise for Chase, Nanaw set up the train tracks on his Thomas table downstairs. He's going to be so excited!

This morning, Chase and Nanaw went to the Museum of Transportation, which is his favorite place in the world. Once again, he gave Nanaw accurate driving directions – smart little bug. Chase played with the trains for the Thomas table for a long while, then played with the puzzles, colored, went down the slide, and played with the toys mounted on the wall. He also spent a long time running around the circus train display. Chase and Nanaw rode on the red train but because the weather was so hot – almost a hundred degrees – they didn’t go up the hill to explore the trains. They’ll wait for cooler weather to do that again. In the afternoon, Daddy picked Chase up from Nanaw’s house to go pick up Mama and then to Uncle Mike’s house to get Mama’s car and to go swimming in Uncle Mike’s pool.
