Happy Halloween!!! Chase had a day full of adventures on Halloween. Mama, Chase and Nanaw went to the zoo in the morning. It was cold and windy outside so they all bundled up. Chase wore his Minion hat but didn’t want to wear his Minion costume. At the zoo, they saw the elephants, the hyenas, the rhinoceros and lots of fishies. In the Children’s Zoo, Chase petted and brushed the goats – very cute. Inside the Children’s Zoo, Chase spent a lot of time trying to build sandcastles. He also sat down at a table with the a little girl and had a tea party with her – he always makes himself right at home. He seemed to especially like the jellyfish and kept saying "Jellyfish!" After the zoo, Chase, Mama and Nanaw went to Schnucks in Columbia, and Chase seemed to have a great time driving the blue car cart. After Chase’s nap, Nanaw came over for a "dee-wishes" chili dinner. Chase even did his "one-bite" thing of the chili. Mama was a little concerned that Chase wouldn’t want to wear his Minion costume but he let her put it on and he happily kept it on the whole evening. The Minion stocking cap Mama bought for him at Walmart was the best part of the costume. Chase was incredibly good out trick or treating. He said "Trick or Treat" and "Thank You." At first, he carried his Thomas bucket with the treats in it, but it got too heavy, and he said "Too heavy" and had Mama or Nanaw carry it. All in all, it was a super successful Halloween!

Chase had lots of different adventures on Thursday. After his healthy breakfast, Nanaw gave him some of the kettle corn that Mama and Daddy bought Wednesday night at the Bass Pro Shop. Then Chase and Nanaw ran errands at various shopping malls: Nanaw was looking for the gold clip earrings that she wears but was only able to find one pair at West County Mall. Next, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart where Chase saw the Christmas trees and Santa and rode on Elmo. Chase also ate "bones" and "fishies" from the vending machines, and Nanaw bought him another train, this one named Gator. When Chase woke up from nap, Uncle Mike was there to take a look at Nanaw’s furnace (which turned out to be fine). Chase had a great time playing with Uncle Mike and with his cleaning supplies. Mama and Daddy came to pick up Chase, and they stayed to visit for a few minutes with Uncle Mike. They were all going to Outback for Mama and Daddy’s 4th anniversary celebration dinner.

Chase and Nanaw have a new activity first thing each morning. They sit on the sofa and have story time with the books that Mama packs in Chase’s backpack. They invite TJ to join them and usually he does. Today, Nanaw said to Chase, "TJ came to story time today." And Chase said to Nanaw, "I go to story time, too, Nanaw." Very cute. Chase and Nanaw’s adventure for Wednesday was a road trip up to UMSL to deliver something to Uncle Mike. Nanaw told Chase they were going to see Uncle Mike, and Chase said, Uncle Mike has fishies," – he thought they were going to Uncle Mike’s house and would be able to see the goldfish. When they got UMSL, Chase was delighted with all the big trucks and the backhoe. Then Uncle Mike took Chase and Nanaw for a ride in the gator), which Chase called the "alligator"—and Chase got really excited about that. Chase and Uncle Mike talked about going to Rockbridge, and Chase said he was going fishing. When Chase and Nanaw got home, they played with trains downstairs. Chase went home early because Nanaw had a doctor’s apppointment. Nanaw talked to Mama in the evening and found out about the trip that mama, Daddy and Chase made to the Bass Pro Shop in St. Charles to buy waders for Daddy for Rockbridge. Mama says Chase really liked looking at the fishies and didn’t want to go home.

Today Chase and Nanaw went to Chase’s favorite place: The Train House. There were only about half a dozen other children at the Creation Station so there’s was lots of room at the Thomas tables for the children. Chase played with the trains for a long while, then with the puzzles and the puppets. He played on the school bus and then in the kitchen – the kitchen is becoming one of his favorite play areas there. He also went to the coloring area and colored with a little girl named Dolly. Nanaw read a Richard Scarry book to Chase and sent pictures to Mama of the pencil car and the pickle car, which Mama loved when she was a little girl. Chase and Nanaw rode on the red train and then went up the hill to explore the trains. Chase went in the milk car (the one that makes so much noise when you run in it) four times, with Nanaw following closely behind. At one point in the day, Chase told Nanaw, "I want to play trains all day long." Who knows where he learned all day long. When Nanaw took Chase home at the end of the day, he was once again delighted to see the inflatable pumpkins and skeleton in his front yard, just like last night when he saw them for the first time. He didn’t want to go into the house last night or tonight. Mama says that last night she and Chase went out to get the mail, and Chase called the pumpkins and the skeleton "Mines."

Chase and Nanaw had several adventures today. First, they went to Goodwill looking for a long-sleeved black shirt to wear under his Minion costume for Halloween. Nanaw bought three shirts, plus a Minion insulated lunch bag for picnic adventures with Nanaw. Next, they went to Dollar Tree where Nanaw bought Chase two wooden trains and an Elmo puzzle. Then it was on to the little playground by the Columbia Library. When Nanaw parked, Chase said, "People!" after he saw the mothers and children at the park. He ran into the playground shouting, "Hi people!" Some of the mothers answered "Hi" back – very cute. Chase met and played with a cute little boy named Owen. They ran around the playground and seemed to have lots of fun together. Owen’s mother gave Nanaw lots of information about pre-schools in Columbia that Nanaw passed along to Mama. Chase and Nanaw went to the Columbia library and checked out a Curious George Halloween book and an Arthur audiobook for Chase.
