Saturday afternoon, Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky came to visit Nanaw and prune her grapevines and work on the drains. Chase and Mama came to see them, and Chase got his tools and helped Uncle Mike work on the drains -- it was very cute. For the first time ever that Nanaw saw, Chase picked up his tools and put them away. On Saturday evening, Nanaw babysat with Chase while Mama and Daddy went to the Billikens basketball game with Aunt Becca, Uncle Stan and Uncle Will-Bill. It had started to snow and Chase was still napping, so Nanaw came over to Chase's house. When Chase woke up, they went to Nanaw's house, where Chase played out in the snow and had a grand time. Chase had popcorn chicken and peas for dinner and did a good job of cleaning his plate. In the evening, Chase and Nanaw played in his room and in the living room, where they watched Paw Patrol. Chase also played on Mama and Daddy's bed with Mama's R2D2s. It was a very fun evening.

Nanaw decided that she and Chase would have a quiet play day at home today. It was very cold outside -- 7 degrees when Nanaw when to pick up Chase. Originally, Chase and Nanaw were planning to go to the Train House Friday but because of the cold weather and because Chase had been sick the day before, they stayed home. Chase and Nanaw played in Chase's room with the mega blocks, the kitchen, the microphone and the play pianos. They also went downstairs to play for awhile. Chase's latest trick in climbing in and out of the pack and play. (Nanaw still hasn't taken it down -- she sort of uses it to store toys in.) In the afternoon, Mama called Nanaw to tell her she would pick Chase up at 5:15 rather than Nanaw bringing him home. Daddy was going to a happy hour after work so Mama decided she and Chase would have a mother and son adventure. When Mama got to Nanaw's house, they all worked on the penguin craft -- as usual, Chase's favorite part was using the glue stick. When they left Nanaw's house, Mama and Chase went to Joe's Pizza in Columbia for pizza and garlic bread. There was a claw machine there with candy, and Chase was fascinated with it. So Mama found some quarters and got him some candy, which he was very excited about.

Chase had a rough night Wednesday and Thursday morning. At about 2:30 in the morning, he got sick to his stomach several times, and Mama and Daddy had to give him a bath and clean up his bed. He also had diarrhea, and no one got any sleep that night. Mama brought extra changes of clothes for him to Nanaw's house but fortunately there was no need for them. He only got sick to his stomach once and didn't have to change clothes. Thursday he supposed to go to Tot Time but Nanaw called Miss Candy to tell her he was sick and to ask if she could pick up the penguin craft. Miss Candy said certainly, she would leave it at the library desk for Nanaw to pick up. Chase took a long nap but seemed like he was feeling better. In the evening, Mama called Nanaw to tell her that Chase didn't want to hold Tee Tee and wondered if anything had happened, but Nanaw said nothing had happened. A little later, Mama sent Nanaw a picture of Chase holding Tee Tee so everything was all right.

Chase had two Missouri Department of Conservation adventures on Wednesday. First, Chase and Nanaw went to Rockwoods Reservation. Nanaw wanted to see if they had conservation displays like Powder Valley but they only had a few things for Chase to look at. Nanaw told Chase they would come back when the weather was warmer because there were a lot of outdoor things to look at. Next, they went to Powder Valley, and Chase was delighted as usual to be there. There weren't many visitors there but there was one little boy named Evan that Chase played with. They got out the puppets, and Chase stuck the frog puppet out of one of the holes and said, "Attention please. Attention please. We have a puppet show." Nanaw told Mama what he had said, and she said every once in awhile he says "Attention please." Of course, no one knows where he got that from.

Chase and Nanaw stayed home all day on Tuesday. They did a lot of playing with Chase's toys, in his room and downstairs. Nanaw put his upstairs train table back together -- he'd knocked it down the other day. Nanaw also cleaned up Chase's room -- he had toys all over the place. When Nanaw started picking up Chase's toys and putting them in containers, Chase dumped out the containers so Nanaw put him in his bed and turned on the TV so that he wasn't undoing what she was doing. He didn't like being put in the bed and fussed a lot. He also started to climb out and got almost all the way out -- but Nanaw helped him back in and told him he mustn't do that. Nanaw gave him his little computer to play with but he threw it on the floor and said, "This computer is not working right." It needed batteries so Nanaw put the batteries in and gave it to Chase. He said, "You fixed it!" Very cute. Next, Chase and Nanaw went downstairs and played with the trains, the Lincoln Logs and the groceries. Chase seems to especially like going downstairs to play with his toys, both at Nanaw's house and his house.

Monday, February 23, 2015

Chase's adventure on Monday was going to Movers and Shakers at the Columbia Library. His little friend Riley wasn't there Monday but his other friends Molly and Eli were. Chase spent time running around the room with Eli. Chase was pretty good at doing what he was supposed to do with the songs and books, except for a few times when he and Eli ran around. Chase really seems to enjoy the popcorn and elevator parachute games. Miss Annette got a colorful parachute with cloth handles for the children to use instead of a sheet, and they seemed to really like it. After Movers and Shakers, Chase and Nanaw went upstairs to the reading room. Eli was there also. and he and Chase spent time playing together. One of Chase's shoes fell off, and Eli put it back on -- it was the cutest thing.
