Tuesday. June 30, 2015

Chase's adventure for Tuesday was a visit to the Animal Protective Association for Tuesday Tails. As usual, Chase sat and laid on the big stuffed shaggy dog in the middle of the floor. He also jumped on it a bit -- it was very cute. Today's story was about a dog who wanted to be good but was having trouble doing it. The main attraction was a visit by a lady who has three Chihuahuas. She brought them into the room in a dog stroller, very similar to the cat stroller that Nanaw has. The boys and girls got to pet the Chihuahuas, who were named Hershey, Nacho and Opal. Chase really liked the puppies and liked petting them. When everyone went to visit the kittens, Chase had a great time playing with the kitten toys in the visiting rooms. There were about 20 baby kittens there today and half of them were black. But Nanaw restrained herself and did not get a replacement for Tyra -- at least not today. Chase fell asleep on the way home, and when he and Nanaw went into the house, for the first time ever, Chase told Nanaw he wanted to take a night-night nap. So he took a 4 1/2 hour nap in the afternoon. By the way, Mama called Nanaw to tell her that Tyler has a middle name, courtesy of Auntie La-La's visit Saturday night -- Tyrone.

Chase and Nanaw mostly spent the day at home playing. Nanaw gave Chase the Woody and Buzz Lightyear Pez dispensers she bought for him, and he was very excited to have them. He played with them all day and took a nap with them. Fortunately, he was willing to leave them at Nanaw's house rather than wanting to take them home with him. Chase and Nanaw ran a few errands in the morning -- going to the post office, returning a book to the library and stopping by Nanaw's church to pick up the CD to put the Sunday sermon on the website. A wonderful thing happened when they got home from their errands -- for the first time ever for Nanaw, Chase went number two on the potty -- it was very exciting. He said Mama and Daddy would be happy. Nanaw told him that he would get a "special" (Chase's word for a surprise special present) from Mama and Daddy when he went home. Mama and Daddy were very pleased with Chase and let him choose what "special" he wanted (they have bags of surprise presents for him -- they sent one of the bags home with Nanaw so she would have presents to give him when he goes number two). Chase chose a painting kit and began painting immediately -- very cute.

Mama told Nanaw that Chase had a wonderful time Saturday night with little Will. Will played with Chase all evening and then again Sunday morning. Mama says Chase kept saying, "Will, you play with me?" Mama says she thinks Will had a good time also because he got to be the grown-up cool kid for Chase. Nanaw went to visit Chase on Sunday afternoon; Uncle Mike was there also because he and Mama were going to the Cardinals baseball game. Nanaw gave them each twenty bucks to buy themselves something to eat -- some habits die hard. Nanaw brought a Yoda Pez dispenser for Chase and told him that tomorrow she would give him the Woody and Buzz Lightyear dispensers she bought for him. He was very happy about that. Chase and Nanaw played outside for a long while with his cars and in his sandbox. It looked like rain was coming so Nanaw helped put away the toys in the back yard.

Saturday. June 27, 2015

Nanaw came to visit Chase Saturday morning before she went out to Aspenhof. She and Chase played in his room for a long while. First, they played with the huge stuffed animals that Mama brought up for Chase from the purple room downstairs. (Mama spent Friday working on cleaning out the purple room so Daddy can paint it – blue maybe, which will make it the blue room.) The animals included Mr. Banana, a big banana stuffed friend, a big cuddle white bear that Mama says Chase named Sally, and a very large lion that Mama calls Fa-Fa for Mufasa. Chase pretended like his bed was a train and the animals at the end of the bed on the floor were the caboose. He had Nanaw sit on the animals in the caboose. Next, Chase and Nanaw went downstairs and played "bolleyball" and soccer with the balls in the purple room – just like they did last night with Mama and Daddy. Mama was very excited because her best friend Alice, along with Aunt Alice’s husband Uncle Chris and their son Will, were coming for a visit and to spend the night. The cutest, sweetest thing ever happened when Nanaw left: Chase said, "Thank you for coming to my house." How precious is that!

Friday’s adventure for Chase was a visit to his favorite place: The Train House. When Chase and Nanaw arrived, the 9:15 session of the Creation Station was sold out so they had to wait for the 10:30 session. They watched the circus train for a few minutes, then went to ride on the train. It was raining a little bit but they had umbrellas so they were fine. For the first time ever, Chase got to be the guest conductor on the train and say "All Aboard" into the microphone. He was very excited about that. After the train ride (and a lot of attention for Chase from the real conductor), Chase rode on the hand car. Next, they bought popcorn and Chase played on the train table in the cafĂ©. Nanaw told Chase that when the big hand was on the six on the clock on the wall, they could go into the Thomas Tables room – so Chase kept a close eye on the clock. Chase said the sweetest thing – he said he wanted to see Miss Linda so he could be happy. Nanaw told Miss Linda what he said, and she was very pleased about that. Chase did all his usual playing: the wooden blocks, putting together the rain track, playing in the kitchen, playing on the school bus, trying on the various costumes, playing with the puppets, making another rocket at the craft table, and of course, playing on the Thomas the Train tables. In the evening, Mama and Daddy invited Nanaw to go out to dinner with them and Chase at a little restaurant in Columbia, Merz on Main. Nanaw had a wonderful time with Chase and his family.

Thursday., June 25, 2015

Chase's Thursday adventure was going to Story Time at the Telegraph Road Library. Miss Kim read stories about sharks -- very exciting! She also sang songs with the boys and girls about sharks. And of course they did the shark hokey-pokey -- very funny when Miss Kim sang, "You put your dorsal fin in. You put your dorsal fin out." After Story Time, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart. Nanaw bought presents: Emily, a Thomas train for Chase; a mustache squeaker toy for Sam; and the latest Mary Higgins Clark book for Mama. When they got home, Chase and Nanaw played downstairs with the trains and then out on the deck with the sandbox. Chase also played with what he calls the big piano. At the end of the day, he played out on the upper deck with his psychedelic van and his farm and farm animals. He's certainly a busy little fellow.
