Before school, cute little Chase put on his monster hat and "grubs" and insisted on wearing them to school, even though it was fairly warm outside, and he didn't need them. He had them on again when he came out of school when it was even warmer outside -- he must have put them on himself again. After school, Chase and Nanaw went to the Grant's View library. Chase had a great time playing with the toy vegetables and dishes, climbing back and forth through the two tunnels that lead into the children's area, and jumping on the bouncy stools. As usual, he didn't want to leave and started to cry, but somehow Nanaw got him to quiet down. When Nanaw took Chase home, he told Daddy he wanted his "Nemo thing." Daddy didn't know what he meant but Mama said he might be talking about the Nemo kite she bought for him at Walmart yesterday. So Mama and Daddy got out the Nemo kite, and Daddy put it together. Chase and Daddy went outside to the field behind the house, and Chase flew the kite. Nanaw followed behind to take pictures of Chase having a fun time flying the kite.

Mama sent Nanaw a photo of Chase playing with his Play Dough. Daddy took cousin Zander golfing so Mama and Chase spent the day together. They went to Walmart, and Mama bought Chase a Nemo kite, among other things. On Sunday evening, Nanaw came over for the annual Oscar watching. Mama fixed experimental meatballs for dinner, and they were delicious. She also fixed onion rings and Caesar salad. After dinner, everyone (except Sam because there was no food yet) went downstairs to watch the Oscars. Chase sat on the sofa and watched Ryan YouTube videos on Daddy's iPad, and Nanaw sat next to him. He's like a little warmer so he kept Nanaw warm. Mama and Daddy worked on a Minion jigsaw puzzle. Later, Mama fixed popcorn, and Sam came downstairs to beg for popcorn. It was bath night for Chase, and he played with his color changing cars for a long while. When it was time to get out of the tub, he did this splashing thing that Nanaw saw for the first time. It's his way of protesting having to get out of the tub.

Chase and Nanaw had an exciting evening on Saturday. Mama and Daddy went to the Brew House at River City Casino with Aunt Kristen and Uncle Chappie and other friends so Nanaw got to baby-sit with Chase. Chase was in a wonderful mood -- he was his cheerful, fun self, and Nanaw was so happy about that. He's been less than healthy for several weeks and that's made him fussy and cranky. He's finally getting better. First, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart to buy kettle corn in the kiosk outside the store -- they were doing a fund raiser for the Children's Miracle Network. Nanaw bought a bag for Chase and her and a bag as a present for Mama. Next, they went to Dollar Tree and Nanaw bought Chase a tiny guitar, some stuff like Play Dough that bounces, and some rubbery guys with sticky stuff all over them. Then they went to McDonald's for dinner. Chase selected the booth for them to sit in, and during the time they were eating, he tried out several more booths and tables -- it was very cute. They went back to Nanaw's house for awhile where Chase played with his new things from Dollar Tree. Around 9:30, Nanaw finally took Chase home -- yes, it was past his bedtime but they were having fun, and Nanaw didn't want it to end. Nanaw put Chase to bed, and he said he only wanted her to read one book, Peppa and the Big Train. He had Nanaw plug in his night light, then said, "Come on, Nanaw. Time to go to sleep." So Nanaw had to lie down next to Chase. They said his "Now I lay me down to sleep" prayer, and he added another name, Holly Shiftwell from Cars 2; he also added Lightning McQueen and Mater.

Chase was happy to go to school today, after being out sick on Monday and then having a snow day on Wednesday. When Nanaw picked him up from school, he found a huge chunk of snow and kept throwing it at Nanaw like a snowball. Finally, Chase and Nanaw stomped on it till it was gone -- great fun. The adventure for the day was a trip to the Train House. At the registration desk, Chase and Nanaw met Lynn's (the person who runs the registration desk) grandson Charlie. (Nanaw didn't tell Lynn or Charlie's mother that she has a cat named Charlie.) Charlie is precious, very loving -- he gave Chase a hug. Chase stood there for a moment, not knowing what to do, then he hugged Charlie back -- very cute. Chase had a wonderful time in the Creation Station -- after weeks of being sick and feeling yucky, he was back to his old charming, delightful, fun self. He played with the trains on the train tables for a long while, along with Nanaw. He spent a lot of time with the wooden blocks; Miss Linda and another boy were building with the blocks also. When Nanaw and Chase left the Creation Station, Chase spotted some Cars Pez dispensers in one of the display cases, and he was very excited about them. When Nanaw took Chase home in the evening, Mama asked her if she could baby-sit on Saturday night while Mama and Daddy go to the Brew House at River city Casino with Aunt Kristen and Uncle Chappie. Nanaw, of course, said yes and was very happy about getting to have extra time with Chase.

Thursday, February 25, 2016

First thing in the morning, Chase and Nanaw played downstairs, and Nanaw put his train track together again -- it’s the big train from Mama’s work friend Jane. It has controllers and Chase takes great delight in running the trains. Next, they went upstairs and Chase played with abcmouse for a long while. He got a message from abcmouse when he tried to buy another fish for his aquarium that he couldn’t buy any more fish because he had too many – very funny. Chase and Nanaw went to the health food store for vitamins and then to the Grant’s View Library to return books. Next, they went to Walmart. Chase wanted to know if he could have a toy, and Nanaw said she didn’t think it was a toy day today at Walmart. Chase said, "Let me check my iPhone." He lifted his hand and tapped it with fingers from the other hand (for his pretend iPhone) and then he said, "It is a toy day at Walmart today!" What a funny kid he is. He had difficulty deciding what toy he wanted and finally chose another sporty Lightning McQueen and another Sally Carrera.

Chase had his second snow day today! Nanaw was very surprised to get a phone call from Mama about the snow day and to say that she would bring Chase over to Nanaw's house. He had on a very cute pair of Star Wars sleepers so Nanaw took a picture of him. Chase and Nanaw stayed home all day where it was dry and warm and safe. They had lots of fun playing abcmouse and playing downstairs. Chase messed with his hamsters again and also sent his pets to the pet retreat -- funny guy. After lunch, Chase and Nanaw went outside to play in the snow. Chase put on his mittens and his Thomas hat all by himself -- it was very cute. Chase threw snowballs at Nanaw and ate snow off a spoon -- very cute. He asked Nanaw for a shovel; she gave one to him, and he proceeded to shovel what little snow was still left on the driveway -- also very cute. When it was time to go in, (it was very windy) of course Chase didn't want to go in. He ran away from Nanaw and rolled down the hill. Nanaw went after him and slipped down the hill also. When she tried to climb up the hill, she kept slipping. The neighbor saw her and opened the kitchen window to ask if she was all right. Nanaw said she was but she was very embarrassed about falling.
