Chase and Nanaw had another wonderful day on Thursday. This time their adventure was a visit to the Science Center. Chase was delighted to spend a lot of time in the MakerSpace area where the air balls are. He visited all the displays there and played with some boys who were putting together tubes with air in them. The Science Center was unusually crowded, especially with large groups of boys and girls from various camps throughout the St. Louis. Chase also visited the sand area, the dinosaur dig (where he threw lots of the dig stuff in the air), the dinosaur table, the coal area, and the roller coaster table. Chase and Nanaw stayed along time, and so Chase was perfectly willing to leave when the time came. Nanaw had no trouble getting the little fellow out of there.

Chase, Mama and Nanaw had a wonderful, fun-filled day at the zoo. The weather was cool and beautiful, sunny but not too much at all. Their first and next to last stops were to visit the huge turtles, which Chase really liked. Everyone got to see their favorite sights at the zoo: Chase's favorites were the zebras; Mama's favorites were the elephants; and Nanaw's favorite was Robert the orangutan. Mama wanted to visit the polar bear for Daddy because that's Daddy's favorite but they didn't make it there. They also didn't get to ride the train. They waited in line for the train but the line was too long, the trains were too crowded and they didn't have enough trains running. Nanaw bought some kettle corn to share with Mama and Chase, and Mama bought a big slurpy, icy drink for her and Chase. Towards the end of the zoo adventure, Chase wanted to go to the gift shop so that was their final stop. Mama bought Chase some SpongeBob candy and another stuffed turtle. Chase decided to name his new turtle Pete Also. The turtle he already has is named Pete, and now he has another turtle named Pete Also. It was a perfect zoo visit. Nanaw got to take care of Chase in the evening while Mama went out to dinner with friends and Daddy golfed. Chase and Nanaw went to McDonald's for dinner, much to Chase's delight. The perfect end to a perfect day.

Tuesday, June 28, 2016

Chase and Nanaw had a fun day on Tuesday. Chase was in a particularly cheerful mood. When Mama dropped him off, he saw the geese in Nanaw's neighbor's yard, and he came in the house saying, Quack, quack," and his good mood continued from there. Tuesday's adventure was a visit to the Train House. The 9:15 session of the Creation Station was sold out so Chase and Nanaw had to wait until the 10:30 session. Chase had his popcorn and played on the little train table in the cafe. He also ran around the circus train display. Miss Linda was very happy to see Chase and Nanaw, who hadn't visited the Train House last week because of Chase's swollen eyes. Chase and Nanaw had a grand time playing with the trains and track and mega blocks and the kitchen. It was a perfect visit. When they got to the car, Nanaw gave Chase some chocolate milk, and unprompted he said, "Thank you very much." Then when they got home, Chase went to get Tee Tee out of his bed, and he said, "Tee Tee missed me so much." At the end of the day, Chase was sitting on the floor by his high chair playing with the straps on the back of the chair, and Nanaw asked him what he was doing. He said, "Working on the zipline." Who knows where he learns those things.

Monday, June 27, 2016

For Monday's adventure, Nanaw had the idea to take Chase to the dollar show (now the five dollar show) to see "Angry Birds." But Chase kept saying he didn't want to go. When Nanaw tried to put his shoes on him, he threw a major tantrum. So Nanaw told him he had to get in his bed, with no television. That made him change his mind. He came out of his room very docilely, saying he wanted to go see the "Angry Birds" movie. At the movie, Nanaw bought a kids tray for Chase: popcorn, fruit punch and a little bag of treats. Nanaw put butter on the popcorn at the butter machine -- Mama and Nanaw love the butter machine. Too bad Mama wasn't there. Chase was excited about the previews, especially the one for "Finding Dory." Chase played very close attention to the movie and seemed to really enjoy it. At the climax of the movie, he was sitting on the edge of the seat, waving his arms in the air. Nanaw was glad that he liked the movie and that he didn't seem to realize it wasn't a very good movie.

Float Trip: Saturday June 25 and Sunday, June 26, 2016

Unfortunately, we have no photos of Chase from the float trip. But we do have good news about the float trip: Chase had a wonderful time. Daddy said he wanted to be in the river all of the time. When they first started out Saturday morning, Chase cried for a minute or two and wanted Mama to come along but then he was fine. He and cousin Mallory played together and had lots of fun. Dinner was grilled hot dogs, one of Chase's favorites. Daddy said Chase was a little restless sleeping in the tent Saturday night. They arrived home about 10 o'clock Sunday morning, and Mama was very happy to see her boys. In the evening, Nanaw came over for a yummy pot roast dinner. Chase had grilled cheese. Mama said she knew pot roast was a winter meal but it was also comfort food, and she felt in need of comfort food after missing her boys that weekend. She had bought Chase a pair of swim goggles to wear in his pool, and he was very excited about them -- he even let Tee Tee try them on.

Friday, June 24, 2016

Chase and Nanaw had a busy day on Friday, making up for lost time. First, they went to the little playground by the Columbia Library. There were about seven boys and girls playing there, and Chase was happy to have so many kids to play with. He ran races with them and played hide and seek. He really wore himself out and didn’t make a fuss when Nanaw said it was time to go to the car for chocolate milk. Next, Chase and Nanaw went to Powder Valley. Chase wanted to walk on the trail first so that’s what they did. There were four school buses full of kids visiting Powder Valley – about 100 boys and girls. Of course, Chase was excited to see them. A group of them were lined up at the start of the trail, and Chase said he wanted to race them. So Chase and Nanaw hurried off down the trail. Chase continues to be very competitive. When Chase and Nanaw finished the trail, two boys ran past them, and Chase ran after them, pretending he was racing with them and pretending that he'd won the race. In the evening, everybody went to dinner at Merz on Main; Chase had grilled cheese; Nanaw had a yummy chef salad; Daddy had a catfish sandwich; and Mama had chicken strips. Good food all around.

Thursday, June 23, 2016

Chase's eyes are almost back to normal --Yay!!! He's very happy about that. When he arrived at Nanaw's house on Thursday morning, he had brought quite a few stuffed animals with him. Mama said when it was time to leave his house, he told her he needed to take some "guys" with him. In addition to Tee Tee, he brought Bill the owl, Spot the dog, the letter E named Eep, Mama's fish potholder that looks like a puppet, and Peep. He played with them a lot during the day and took them along to Walmart and slept with him during his nap. He also brought a bucket and shovel to play with in his sandbox on the lower deck. At Walmart, Nanaw bought some more "pop-stickles" for Chase -- this time he selected SpongeBob PopUps -- they're like dreamsicles that you push up. Nanaw had one also -- yummy. Nanaw thinks maybe she and chase can go on an adventure tomorrow because his eyes are looking good.
