When Nanaw took Chase to school, he sat down at one of the tables and started to play with the CandyLand game. A little blond girl came and sat down with him at the table and began to play CandyLand with Chase. Nanaw asked the little girl what her name was, and she said Alyssa. Then she told Nanaw that she didn't have a home but that she was living with the Raiders and that she had a bedroom of her own. Nanaw thinks she was the little girl who marked on Chase's shirt with the orange marker on Monday. After school, Chase and Nanaw went to Handyman again to see the decorations. Nanaw let Chase run around looking at the displays for as long as he wanted. Then they went to the Telegraph Road Dollar Tree and bought slime, jumping frogs and silly putty for Chase. Nanaw bought kitty calendars and Christmas cards. A little boy couldn't find his mother and was crying, and Chase and Nanaw helped him find his mother. On the way home to Chase's house, Chase and Nanaw did a "drive-by" to see the huge lights display.

Tuesday, November 29, 2016

Daddy had the day off from work on Tuesday to go Christmas shopping so he brought Chase over to Nanaw's house at 9:30. Chase and Nanaw went to the Magic House as their Tuesday adventure, much to Chase's delight. He loves that place and never wants to leave when it's time to go home. Nanaw told Mama that they're all going to have to move to the Magic House. Chase's favorite place there is the technology room where he colors airplanes, rockets, spaceships, trucks and houses and scans them into the system. Then whatever he scans in shows up on the wall. He just loves doing that. Chase also played with the cars at the member entrance, the sand area, the Legos, the ice cream stand, the vet, the hockey area, and the secret slide upstairs in the mystery area. The train section was open, and Chase spent a lot of time there making the trains run around the track and through the tunnel. On the way home, Chase asked Nanaw if they could do a "drive-by" -- that means driving up the street by Chase's house to see the huge Christmas lights display at the end of the street. So Nanaw called Mama to tell her they'd be a few minutes late. In the evening, Chase and Mama were going to the bowling alley to watch Daddy bowl.

Nanaw delivered Chase and the wonderful Christmas traditions poster that Mama made for him to school. However, a sad thing happened to Chase at school. When Nanaw picked him up, Mrs. Carrow said there had been a problem involving Chase, Alyssa, a scissors, and an orange marker. Chase had orange marker on his shirt, and Mrs. Carrow said he got really upset about it. She said he was shaking and said Mama would be upset. She asked Nanaw if his Mama was a laundry freak but Nanaw said absolutely not. Nanaw told Chase not to worry about it, and that she would get the orange marker off, and she did. After school, Chase and Nanaw went on two adventures. The first one was a visit to Handyman Hardware to see the Christmas display and buy C9 light bulbs for Nanaw's outdoor lights. Chase loved the Christmas display, especially the Snoopy and Woodstock light-up Christmas mailbox. Nanaw promised to bring him again. Then Chase and Nanaw went to the Telegraph Road library to play in the children's area. Chase played with the trains, the cash register and food, and the children's computer. Mama and Daddy went to the hockey game with Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky so Nanaw got to keep Chase for the evening. Before Nanaw took him home, Chase had a fun bath in the big bathtub. Chase fell asleep in the Madagascar chair at 9 o'clock so Nanaw didn't get to read to him. She turned on his night light and then carried him into bed. When Mama and Daddy got home, Mama told Nanaw she got tickets for the Polar Express for next Tuesday, December 6, the same time that Brady and Emma and their Mama and Daddy are going. Chase will be so excited but Nanaw doesn't think Mama is going to tell him about the Polar Express yet.

Sunday, November 27, 2016

On Sunday afternoon, Mama, Daddy, Chase and Nanaw had a major adventure: They went to see the movie Trolls at the Waterloo Cinema. Chase had an excellent time and loved the movie, except for the part that he called the "dark part" -- when all the trolls were locked up. Everybody had yummy popcorn and soda. They've renovated the Waterloo Cinema -- with stadium seating and new carpet and new wall coverings. They also painted the outside to make it look better. All in all, it's much improved. Nanaw was invited for a delicious steak dinner, along with corn on the cob. Mama did an excellent job on the Christmas tree and the decorations. Daddy did an excellent job on the outdoor lights and decorations. Everything looks very festive, and Chase is so excited about the decorations. He and Mama worked on his poster board for family Christmas traditions for school. Nanaw will take a picture of it tomorrow when she takes it to school.

Nanaw went to visit Chase on Saturday morning. When she got there, Mama and Chase called out from the kitchen that they were making smoothies. Mama was letting Chase press the button on the blender -- it was very cute. Out of Chase's hearing, Nanaw told Mama that she'd gone to Walmart Friday afternoon (on Black Friday!) to buy the Batman and Superman toy for Chase for either his birthday or Christmas. While Mama went to the grocery store, Chase and Nanaw played with his toys in the living room. Nanaw had such a great time playing with Chase that she stayed till Mama returned from Schnuck's. First, Chase and Nanaw played the Paw Patrol memory game. Of course, Chase wanted to win. He also loses interest in games fairly quickly and wants to move on to something else. After the memory game, they played the fishing game, and once again, Chase wanted to win. They also played pretend night-night naps on the Madagascar chair with Tee Tee and Rascal, and that was lots of fun. To wake them up, Nanaw made the pretend alarm clock noise and Chase said, "Cock-a-doodle-doo!" -- very funny. Mama asked Nanaw if she wanted to go to the movie with them on Sunday to see Trolls so that's what Nanaw is going to do. After Nanaw left, Mama and Chase put up their Christmas tree in the living room. Hopefully, Mama took some pictures that she can put on Chase's Christmas traditions poster board for school.

Friday, November 25, 2016

On Friday, Mama took the day off -- the first time Nanaw can remember Mama taking the day after Thanksgiving off -- she always wanted to work because they get off early. So as their special adventure, Mama, Chase and Nanaw went to the Transportation Museum to see the Christmas train display. Chase was excited about it because he loves the train display. The museum was crowded because lots of people come to visit the holiday train display. The 9:15 Creation Station was sold out so they went to the 10:30 session. Before that, they went outside to visit two of Santa's reindeer: Dasher and Snowflake -- very cute. Chase had his usual popcorn and walked around eating it while looking at all the trains. Mama did the search game for certain highlights of the display and found all of them but one -- the raccoon. She finally had to ask one of the "engineers" where it was, and he pointed it out to her. Miss Linda was happy to see Mama, Chase and Nanaw in the Creation Station. They did crafts and had a lot of fun doing them. They also sang Christmas songs with Miss Linda and enjoyed that. It was a wonderful visit to the Train House, and hopefully it will become a yearly tradition for Mama to take off the day after Thanksgiving and go on an adventure with Chase and Nanaw. In the evening, Mama, Daddy and Chase went to Jackson's house -- and the boys had matching jammies.

Happy Thanksgiving! Thursday, November 24, 2016

First, Nanaw must confess that she forgot to take pictures of Chase on Thanksgiving Day. She did take a picture at the end of the evening of all grandchildren and significant others but no Chase. So she's sharing photos of Chase from 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. She promises to do better photo-wise next year. In the morning, Mama, Chase and Nanaw made their traditional annual trip to Walgreen's. Mama fell in love with a Jack Skellington snowman so Nanaw bought it for her as one of her Christmas presents, along with a "dump" crockpot cookbook. Chase had a great time celebrating Thanksgiving, first at cousin Leah's with all of Daddy's family in the afternoon, and then at Nanaw's house. Sam came to Nanaw's house also, as did Cheyenne. Robbie's girlfriend was visiting from Tennessee. This was the big Thanksgiving dinner with all of Uncle Mike's children. There were 16 at the table. The turkey turned out well, and it was a good thing Nanaw found a 23-pound bird. Mama baked a delicious pecan pie and a gluten free pumpkin cake, and Joe's girlfriend Megan baked two delicious pumpkin pies.

Wednesday, November 23, 2016

First thing on Wednesday at Nanaw's house, Nanaw squirted Redi-Whip in Chase's mouth, much to his delight. Nanaw took a picture of Chase with his mouth full of whipped cream and sent it to Mama. On Wednesday, Nanaw had planned on a quiet play day at home with Chase. However, Chase had other ideas. He kept asking Nanaw where they were going. Then he told Nanaw they should go to Walmart and buy him a toy. So Nanaw finally caved, as Mama calls it. First, Chase and Nanaw went to the bank to get a cashier's check to pay for the roof repair. It rained Tuesday night, and Nanaw had no leaks. At Walmart, Chase wanted to go see the Batman/Superman toy and the huge dragon toy first. Nanaw is going to ask Mama if she should buy the Batman/Superman toy for Chase for his birthday or Christmas. Next, they went to look at toys. Chase saw lots of things he liked but finally he selected two Army toys -- one with a big tank and the other with lots of soldiers and guns. Chase and Nanaw played with the Army toys when they got home. After Chase's night-night nap, Nanaw read six Thanksgiving books to Chase for story time, and he had a great time listening to the books. When Nanaw took Chase home, he was so excited to see that Daddy had put up the outdoor Christmas lights. Then when he went inside, he was excited to see that Daddy had built a fire in the fireplace.
