When Nanaw took Chase to school on Thursday morning, he didn't want to turn in his homework to Mrs. Hermann -- he wanted Nanaw to do it so she did. Once again, Sami didn't want her Daddy to leave -- it was very cute. Nanaw is thinking about volunteering at school -- the kids are so cute and so much fun. Uncle Mike and cousin Joey sent a picture of cousin Mike from San Diego -- cousin Mike has lost 47 pounds and Mama says he's unrecognizable. Nanaw took Charlie to the vet and took pictures of the kittens there for adoption. One of them looks like TJ when he was a baby. Nanaw forgot to take pictures of Chase on Thursday so she only has pictures of kittens and cousin Mike. She's going to include the haircut photo from yesterday because Chase looks so cute with his new short haircut. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, the first thing he told her was that he didn’t have to wear his uniform on Friday. Nanaw asked him what he was supposed to wear, he said, "You'll see!" Then he told Nanaw he didn't have to stay at school all day, that he was going someplace where he would play games -- Friday is their Field Day. When they got to the car, Chase wouldn't let Nanaw open his R2D2 backpack -- he said he wanted to do it himself. That's because he wanted to get out the Field Day tee shirt himself -- it's very cute and Nanaw will include a picture of it on Friday. At 5 o'clock, Mama and Daddy picked up Chase and Nanaw, and they went to Culver's for dinner. Then they went to CostCo to buy food for Mama and Daddy's Labor Day party on Sunday -- lots of fun.

When Nanaw took Chase to school on Wednesday morning, the first-thing-activity was coloring a paper about the color orange. Nanaw noticed that Sami and Henry, two of the children at Chase's table, were doing a great job of coloring in the lines and she mentioned it. So Chase, the little competitive one, showed Nanaw that he too could color in the lines. Nanaw took pictures of Chase and Henry and Sami. She also took pictures of Chase and Joey's locker with the pictures of each boy with his church buddy -- Joey and Chase share the same church buddy. When Nanaw picked Chase up at school, he fell asleep almost the minute he got in the car. Kindergarten is wearing the little fellow out. Nanaw ran some errands to give him a chance to sleep, and then they went home to play. They played with the Ultimate Garage and then went outside to play baseball. Mama took Chase to get a haircut, and he was happy to get a sucker. They had Imo's pizza for dinner -- it was a special fund raising night for ICS.

On Tuesday morning, Nanaw left the Amazon package on the front porch so Chase could see it and bring it in the house. He was very excited about it and even more excited to see Wall-E and Eve inside. He had a great time playing with them before school. Mama seemed to want her own set of Wall-E and Eve but told Nanaw not to buy them for her. Chase seemed to be happy to be at school so that's a good thing. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, she had planned to take him on errands to get gas and pick up books at the library. But he wanted to go home so they did. They had watched part of the Wall-E movie in the morning before school so they watched the rest of it in the afternoon, while playing with the Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage and a lot of Hot Wheels cars. Chase skinned his knee at school and he eventually told Mama and Daddy that he fell off a bouncy thing. Nanaw put a Batman Band-Aid on it and he liked that. He fell asleep on his futon toward the end of the Wall-E movie, and then on the way home, he fell asleep again in the car. School wears him out.

Daddy had the day off on Monday so he took Chase to school rather than Nanaw. Nanaw wished she had her little buddy with her for the errand at AT&T to see about getting her phone fixed -- it's always more enjoyable when Chase is around. AT&T replaced the SIM card in her iPhone but that didn't help with the problem of Nanaw's voice disappearing when she was talking on a call. So when Nanaw picked Chase up from school, they went to the Apple store at West County Mall. Once again, Nanaw didn't get a new phone -- they just changed some settings. Chase was an absolute angel at the Apple store so Nanaw told Mama he should get a point toward toys for being so good. When Chase and Nanaw got back to his house, he showed Nanaw his basketball set that Nanaw bought and Daddy put together. Nanaw threw a few baskets, then Chase and Daddy played. In the evening, Mama sent Nanaw a copy of the email Mrs. Hermann sent in response to Mama's email, where she thanked Mrs. Hermann for taking good care of him last Friday when he was tired and didn't feel good. Mrs. Hermann responded: " I am sure he was just worn out! I gave him some space and he settled in before too long. Soon he had that sweet grin on his face and he was good to go! He's a sweetie!" Mama and Nanaw agree that Chase definitely is a sweetie.

Chase had an unexpected play date with Brady on Sunday due to an emergency in Brady's family. They played outside for a long while. They played soccer and used Chase's big red punching gloves. They also played with Chase's new basketball set, trying to do slam dunks. By the time Nanaw came to visit, Brady was gone. Dinner was delicious steaks and Mexican salad -- Yum. After dinner, Mama did sight words and the alphabet with Chase. Then, Mama, Chase and Nanaw took Sam for a bonus walk. Chase picked up pine cones, and then had Nanaw carry them and get pine sap all over her hands. When they got back from the walk, Chase went outside to play baseball with Daddy. Daddy has the day off on Monday so he's going to take Chase to school but Nanaw is going to pick him up. Mama sent Nanaw a text later in the evening about Chase reading the sentence "I see a dog," using his sight words and the word dog that Mama taught him. Mama and Nanaw are very excited about Chase reading. The first picture below is a pumpkin growing from the seeds Chase and his Mama planted.

On Saturday morning, Chase had a soccer event. They had ten-minute games with teams from other towns. Each team had six or seven players on it with four or five players on the field. Chase's team had Brady, Joey, and Audrey as the ones Nanaw knew. Chase seemed to have a lot of fun even though he's not an outstanding player like Brady. That's okay, as long as he enjoys it. Chase came home with Nanaw to spend the day because Daddy was golfing and Mama had another reunion get-together. Chase had lunch, and he and Nanaw watched part of Wall-E. Then Nanaw had Chase take a nap because he'd had a long week at kindergarten and soccer. He slept for almost three hours. When he got up, he and Nanaw watched the rest of Wall-E. Mama came to pick up Chase at about four. Nanaw sent the basketball set home with Chase so Daddy could put it together. Mama sent Nanaw a couple of pictures of the completed basketball set that Daddy had put together. Chase was very excited and happy about it. Daddy is going to put it in the back of his truck and take it to Nanaw's house, where it will live.

On Friday morning, Chase had a meltdown before school. He felt warm and said his head hurt but Mama said he should go to school. Nanaw gave him some Tylenol and managed to get him into the school. He wouldn't go into the classroom so his teacher Mrs. Hermann came out into the hall to talk to him. She told Nanaw it would be all right and evidently it was. When Nanaw picked Chase up after school, Mrs. Hermann told her he had eventually calmed down and was fine. So Nanaw felt very good about that. She had planned to take him to the Magic House after school but he still seemed warm so they went home instead and watched a movie. Then they went to Tunnel McDonald's where Chase played with other boys and girls for a long time. He finally said he wanted to leave because the boys and girls were screaming and shouting very loudly. Next, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart where Nanaw bought Chase a basketball set that she was unable to put together. Chase was having a sleepover with Nanaw while Mama and Daddy went to Mama's 30th high school reunion. Chase took a bath, and Nanaw read his three books to him while he was in the tub. Chase and Nanaw slept in Pawpaw's bed; Chase only woke up once to have Nanaw find lost Tee Tee for him.

When Chase got to Nanaw's house on Thursday morning, he decided to eat breakfast in the garden tub so Nanaw took pictures of him. The only other picture Nanaw took of Chase on Thursday was of him sleeping in the car in the afternoon after school on the way to the library. He fell asleep the minute he got in the car -- it was very cute. The cleaning lady was going to be at Nanaw's house from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. so after school, Chase and Nanaw went to Chase's house. Nanaw changed him into play clothes, and they played downstairs with his fisher Price village and houses and buildings for awhile. Then they went to get gas and to the library. At the library, they picked out movies for Friday night's sleepover. Mama and Daddy are going to Mama's high school reunion party. Nanaw has big plans for Friday. First, after school, they'll go to the Magic House. Then they'll go to tunnel McDonald's for dinner. Then they'll go to Walmart for Nanaw's grocery shopping and a big present for Chase. Then they'll go back to Nanaw's house and watch movies and have popcorn. On Thursday evening, Chase stayed with Nanaw while Mama and Daddy went to a meeting at Chase's school. Uncle Mike was at Nanaw's house, and that made Chase really happy. Chase and Nanaw watched part of the Charlie Brown movie, then played baseball outside for a long time. Nanaw is very impressed with how good a hitter Chase is.

Mama worked at home on Wednesday so Nanaw went to pick Chase up. He did his "hiding" thing where he gets behind Daddy's chair in the living room and hides from Nanaw. At school, Chase showed Nanaw the sink where he fills up his water bottle when it's empty. Nanaw didn't walk over to Chase's table this morning but maybe she will tomorrow. She's not sure what's best to do. Chase is very independent and doesn't mind Nanaw leaving so that's a good thing. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he gave her a big hug and that made her so happy. In the morning, Nanaw had promised Chase that the tent would be out in the front yard when he got home, along with the pretend campfire, hot dogs and marshmallows. Chase was happy when he saw them there. He got his stuffed amamals out of the car and took them to the tent. After playing camping for awhile, Chase and Nanaw played baseball. Chase hit one of the balls on the roof. Fortunately, it fell off into the yard. For dinner, Chase and Mama went to Joe's Pizza. Chase had a breadstick and pepperoni pizza. Mama had sausage, mushrooms and black olives pizza. Mama called Nanaw in the evening to tell her that they're invited to little Emma's birthday party on Sunday, September 17. Yay! Mama and Nanaw get to buy girl birthday presents again.
