Thursday, November 30, 2017

On Thursday morning before school, Chase once again played at the kitchen counter with his Play Dough and Army guy and slime, which seems to be one of his favorite things to do. When Nanaw picked him up from school, Chase was so excited. He said his table did great things so on Friday, they would get the yellow caddy with the good-smelling markers, 64 crayons plus a crayon sharpener, and a little red stuffed animal called the love bug. Nanaw and Chase stopped by his house on the way home and saw a huge box in front of the house. It was Mama's kegerator -- Mama is going to be so excited that it's here. Mama is off work tomorrow and is taking Chase to school so Nanaw told her to make sure and check out the yellow caddy. When Nanaw took Chase home, all on his own he posed in front of the snowman and penguin and then held the pose while Nanaw got out her phone and took a picture. Mama went out to dinner with Brady's mom and Hunter's mom before the Moms' Night Out at the brewery to see the Christmas lights. Mama said she had a wonderful time and that the lights at the brewery are awesome.

Chase was very excited that it was Wednesday, the day that Nanaw came to volunteer in the classroom. He's very sweet about Nanaw coming to volunteer, and that makes Nanaw very happy. In the morning when Nanaw took Chase to school, Mrs. Herrmann showed Nanaw what she would be doing in the afternoon -- helping the boys and girls put snowflakes around the Christmas trees they'd pasted on construction paper. The boys and girls were happy to see Nanaw when she showed up for volunteering and that made Nanaw feel so good. Nanaw took three boys and girls at a time back to the table with their Christmas trees. They were supposed to put 12 dots of white paint around the Christmas trees. But very few boys and girls did only 12 dots. Most did closer to 20 dots of paint. Once again, Nanaw got white paint on herself -- she's as messy as the boys and girls. Nanaw went to check the lost and found and found the missing part of Chase's Paw Patrol gloves -- Mama and Chase were very happy about that. Daddy, Mama and Chase went to Pieology for dinner, as a fund raiser for Chase's school. However, Mama didn't know she was supposed to take the Pieology flier with her and show it to the waiter so their dinner probably didn't count toward the fund raising. Mama says Pieology has gluten-free pizza so Nanaw could have gone.

When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he told her that they got eight new sight words that day. Nanaw had Chase go through the sigh words, and he did really well but still has trouble every time with where. Will was one of the new sight words, and Chase thought it was funny that Daddy's name was a sight word. At Nanaw's house, Chase played at the kitchen counter with the Mater Mashem, the slime and the rat, the Play dough, and the green soldier guy. He watched Chase TV (as he calls the PBS shows for children) on the little kitchen TV. He did sight words with Mama when he got home while Daddy went bowling. Mama put more decorations on Chase's Christmas tree. She had put Jack Skellington on top of the tree but Chase remembered that he had Thomas on top of his tree last year and wanted Thomas back again. Very cute. Chase is a loyal little fellow who remembers all his toys and friends.

When Nanaw took Chase to school on Monday morning, she learned that Cole moved from Chase's table and Joey moved to Chase's table. Although Chase says he'll miss Cole, Chase was happy to have Joey at his table. He told Nanaw, "I love Joey." Sami had Beary at home with her over the Thanksgiving holiday, and her Daddy said Beary had a really good time. In the afternoon, when Nanaw picked Chase up from school, Sami was in the waiting area with her mom, crying because Beary was not coming home with her again. Nanaw took Chase to Walmart so they could work more on Chase's toy list and to buy Christmas light bulbs. One of the toys they saw that Chase liked was a plastic parakeet in a cage, and Nanaw is going to get it for Chase. Nanaw bought a Cars Mashem and they got Mater; they also got a green soldier guy. After Walmart, they went to Handyman Hardware to buy more Christmas light bulbs and to look at the Christmas displays again. When they got home, Chase was happy to see Uncle Mike again; he came to put in bulbs for the burned out ones.

Sunday, November 26, 2017

Nanaw went over to Chase's house on Sunday afternoon to visit with him. Mama was putting up and decorating the Christmas tree. She set up the circular train set she bought for the middle of the tree. Daddy set up the train under the tree. Mama also put up Chase's Christmas tree, and Chase took Nanaw to his room to show her his Christmas tree. Mama made a delicious beef dinner in the crock pot and invited Nanaw to stay for dinner. Aunt Jen had sent along a pretzel bun for Nanaw because she'd never tasted them so Nanaw had her roast beef on a pretzel bun, and it was yummy. Chase spent a lot of time playing on Daddy's iPad. Unfortunately, Chase prefers Daddy's iPad to his own Kindle Fire tablet because he can't watch the YouTube Kids videos on the Kindle Fire. After awhile, Chase went downstairs to play soccer with Daddy. Nanaw went down and played with them for a few minutes before she went home.

Saturday, November 25, 2017

Nanaw got to baby-sit with Chase twice on Saturday. First, in the morning while Mama and Daddy went to the funeral of the father of Mama's friend Theresa. Chase and Nanaw went to Dollar Tree and then to PetsSmart to get a new litter box for Nanaw's kitties, then to Toys R Us so Chase could pick out toys he wants for his birthday and for Christmas. Nanaw made a list, and they had a good time walking around the toy store. Chase had a minor meltdown because he wanted some toys so Nanaw bought him a Barf thing, a package of slime and a Roblox figure. Nanaw took Chase home for awhile so he could spend time with Mama and Daddy before they went to the hockey game with Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky. Mama and Daddy dropped Chase off at Nanaw's house on their way to the hockey game. Chase and Nanaw played with his new slime, Barf and Roblox, painted a penguin ornament they bought, and then he took a bath at Nanaw's house. Then they went back to Chase's house, and he put on his pajamas. He played with Daddy's iPad for awhile, lying in his Gascar chair. Then Mama and Daddy got home, happy because the Blues won the hockey game.

Friday, November 24, 2017

Chase was off from school on Friday so he and Nanaw had a major adventure. They went to the Train House to see the huge Christmas train display and Santa's reindeer. First, they looked at the trains for a few minutes, then they went to the Creation Station. Miss Linda was so happy to see Chase and Nanaw. Chase played with the Thomas trains and the new toys. He also played with the puzzles. Then he went to the craft table and made two Christmas train crafts, one for Jackson and one for himself. After the Creation Station, Chase got popcorn, and he and Nanaw watched the trains for a long time -- it was so wonderful. They went outside and visited the reindeer and Nanaw took pictures of Chase standing next to the reindeer. In the afternoon, Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky came over to Nanaw's house to put up her outdoor decorations. Chase was very excited to see Uncle Mike and to watch him put up the decorations. In the evening, Mama, Daddy, Chase, and Nanaw went over to Jackson's house for the lighting of the Christmas lights. Aunt Jen had food from Ravenelli's; fried chicken, pasta, salad, garlic bread and really fancy desserts. It was a wonderful dinner and a wonderful evening, and everyone had a great time.

Happy Thanksgiving! Thursday, November 23, 2017

Chase, Mama and Daddy had two Thanksgiving celebrations. The first was at cousin Caroline's house in Fairview Heights. Mama says cousin Caroline has a huge house and everybody fit in well. Daddy thinks there were about 25 people there. Unfortunately, Grandma Pat stayed home but Aunt Patty and Alexander went. Mama says there was a big table of desserts, all yummy and beautiful. Mama also said that cousin Caroline used paper plates and plastic silverware so there weren't a lot of dishes to wash. Evidently, that was a hint to Nanaw that they should do the same thing and save Mama from all the dishwashing. Chase's second Thanksgiving celebration was at Nanaw's. Nanaw bought her biggest turkey ever: 24 pounds. When she bought it, she had Mama put it in the fridge downstairs. Then Mama brought it upstairs the day before Thanksgiving for it to thaw out. Daddy put it in the oven for Nanaw, and Uncle Mike took it out. Nanaw probably won't get such a big turkey again. At Nanaw's celebration, there were ten people: Chase, Mama, Daddy, Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky, Nichole, Natalie, Jon Jon, Joe and Nanaw. Sidney Crosby liked having all the people there -- he's a social kitty.

Wednesday, November 22, 2017

Chase was off from school on Wednesday and the big plan for the day was an adventure at the Magic House. Chase and Nanaw got there shortly after the Magic House opened but it was already very crowded. School must have been out for most kids, and everybody had the same idea. Nanaw was afraid that the Dinosaur Train would be gone but fortunately, it was still there. Chase had a great time playing with all the various displays and activities in the Dinosaur Train. He visited almost all of his favorite places: the train, the secret slide, the hockey display, the ball display, the bubble room, the waterworks, the mechanic shop, the pizza place, the bank and finally the construction zone. The construction zone was the only area that wasn't crowded. That’s because it has a huge window open to the outside, and it was very cold outside so no one wanted to be in there. Nanaw and Chase only stayed there for a few minutes. At home, Chase played with the crafts supplies -- the beads, pipe cleaners, loom, and the some mores kit. He made the cutest little some more all on his own.
