On Wednesday morning, Chase told Nanaw he was excited that she was coming to his class that day. Nanaw told him she was excited too. The project for Wednesday was for Nanaw to help the boys and girls write loving statements on hearts, along with their names and any pictures they wanted to draw. The hearts were for one of the little girls in Chase's class whose father died. Mrs. Herrmann is going to get a fichus tree and hang the hearts on them. The boys and girls did a really good job on the hearts project. Then Nanaw got a wonderful surprise. It turns out that Mama told Mrs. Herrmann that Thursday is Nanaw's birthday, and she asked the teacher if maybe the class could sing Happy Birthday to her. The boys and girls did even better than that. They drew pictures for Nanaw; then Mrs. Herrmann spiral-bound the pictures into a wonderful Happy Birthday book. After the boys and girls sang Happy Birthday, Nanaw had to blow them down like they're candles. But some of them decided to be trick candles, and she had to keep blowing them out -- it was very funny. After school, Chase and Nanaw went to Schnuck's and Dollar Tree on Telegraph Road. At 5 o'clock, Mama and Nanaw took Chase to George Weber Chevrolet to join other Khoury League boys and girls to get their picture taken for the newspaper. Mama and Nanaw saw a car there they really want: a $99,999 Corvette!
