When Nanaw got to Chase's school on Wednesday afternoon for her volunteer work, she found both kindergarten classes outside, along with their 7th grade church buddies. They were out there to get their pictures taken with their church buddies. Chase and Joey sat on a stone bench with Steven, the church buddy that they share. When Mrs. Herrmann had taken all the photos, the class, along with Nanaw went back into the classroom for center activities. Mrs. Herrmann had the class make birthday wishes for Mrs. Ettling, Alaina's grandmother, who volunteers in the classroom on Thursdays. They wrote sentences saying thank you and telling her what they liked about her visits: reading to her, painting with her, and coloring. Nanaw walked around and helped them with the birthday wishes pages. Uncle Mike came to cut Nanaw's grass on Wednesday before Chase went home. Chase and Uncle Mike sat at the kitchen counter and ate peanuts and red licorice and talked about baseball.
