Chase and Nanaw had a major adventure on Thursday. They visited a new place, somewhere they'd never been to: the Columbia Bottom Conservation Area. Uncle Mike told Nanaw that he and Aunt Becky were going there to look at the sunflowers on Thursday afternoon. So Nanaw thought that would be a fun thing to do with Chase. It's off 270 and Riverview Blvd so it's really far from Nanaw's house. It took about an hour to get there. (Mama suggested that they take the Illinois 270/255 route and that's what they did on the way back. And it was about 20 minutes shorter.) Chase and Nanaw went to the visitors' center first, where they watched a video and got maps and brochures. Then they went to see the Missouri River, then the viewing platform, and then the confluence of the Missouri River with the Mississippi River. That was totally awesome -- water as far as you could see. Chase said it was humongous. On their way to the confluence, they passed the sunflower fields but there wasn't a convenient place to park so they stopped to see the sunflowers on their way out. Nanaw took pictures of Chase with the sunflowers to send to Mama. Mama loves sunflowers, and she wants to go see them.
