We had ice and snow on Thursday morning so Chase had a snow day! Even though Mama was working at home today, she graciously volunteered to bring Chase to Nanaw's house so Nanaw didn't have to go out on the icy streets and sidewalks. When Chase got to Nanaw's, she told him that he could stay in his pajamas all day because it was a snow day. They had a fun day together. Chase had planned to take his lunch to school because they were having country fried steak. So he ate his cold lunch at Nanaw's house. Nanaw put all his treats and chips and candy in a see-through plastic bag and choose which treats he wanted. He watched hockey games on YouTube on the laptop. He played hockey and played in his room with Hot Wheels and his Pokemon cards, while watching the weather channel. Mama had sent along the Nightmare Before Christmas book and they read that, plus the rollerblade book and wild animal book they bought at Dollar Tree on Saturday. In the evening Nanaw realized she'd forgotten to send Chase's new gloves home with him so she sent a picture of them to Mama.

After Mama left Chase at Nanaw's house on Wednesday morning, he wanted to go to his room, lie down on his futon and watch the weather. He insisted that Nanaw bring the stuffed "amamals" he brought from his house to his room. It was all very cute. Lunch at school was Mexican Haystack, and Nanaw asked if she could come have lunch with Chase because Mama and Nanaw want to know what Mexican Haystack is. But Chase said no. Then he told Nanaw she could come next month when they have Mexican Haystack. On the way home from school, Nanaw stopped by Chase's house to drop off the Girl Scout cookies Mama bought from Stella. In the evening, Nanaw went with Chase and Mama to Chase's skating lessons. Mama and Daddy said he did better tonight than at his first two lessons. One of the teachers had him use the rink's skates rather than his own, and they moved him to the beginner's class. So things went a lot better.

When Chase came to Nanaw's house on Tuesday morning, the first thing he did was run into his room and get his Onix 120 Pokemon card and show it to Mama. It was the cutest thing. Mama and Nanaw agreed that they had no idea what the card was or why it was so important to Chase but they loved the fact that he was so excited about it. At school, Nanaw found the black glove she was looking for in the lost and found. Then in her car she found some extra gloves Mama had given her. She laundered them so she could give them to Mama. Nanaw went to Walmart and bought a green folder for Chase; she made it into his homework folder, which was in bad shape. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he wanted to know if they were going straight home. Nanaw said they were going to the cemetery first, and Chase said he was going to be bad Chase and wouldn't be good Chase till they were at home. Then a minute later, he was asleep. It was very funny. When they got home, he woke up and announced to Nanaw that he was good Chase. When Nanaw took Chase home, Mama noticed that he had a tear in one of the knees of his pants. Mama wanted to know how he got it but all he could say was that he fell. Nanaw took the pants home and sewed up the tear and washed them.

When Nanaw went to pick Chase up on Monday morning, he was in a really good mood, which made Nanaw happy. At school, Nanaw looked in the lost and found for Chase's black mitten but didn't find it. After school, Chase and Nanaw went to the cemetery and then to the library to pick up a book for Mama and the movie "A Star Is Born." Chase got Cheese-Its from the vending machine, one of his favorite treats. When they got home, Chase played Roblox on the laptop. He also showed Nanaw all his Pokemon cards and told her which one was his favorite: one called Onix, whose number is 120. Nanaw doesn't understand at all so she'll have to have Chase explain Pokemon and Pokemon cards. In the evening, Mama told Nanaw that she and Chase looked online for dogs at the Humane Society but didn't find the perfect dog. Nanaw looked at the APA site and told Mama they have nine small dogs and nine medium dogs. So Mama said she would look at the APA site.

Sunday, February 24, 2019

On Sunday morning for breakfast, Chase had the mini donuts Mama sent. After breakfast, Nanaw took Chase home and then went to church. In the afternoon, Mama, Chase and Nanaw had a major adventure. They went to Rescue Readers at Helping Strays. The boys and girls read to the dogs there and also visit the kitties. They saw Chase's classmate Evie and her little sister Emma there. Their mama said that because of all their allergies, they can't have pets at home so they come to Helping Strays to visit the dogs and cats. Chase read a Valentine book about dogs to Koda, a two-year old girl dog that looks like a black labrador. It was really cute watching Chase read to Koda. He seemed like he was really enjoying really. After Chase was done reading to Koda, he and Nanaw and Mama went to visit the kitties; that was fun for Nanaw. She wanted to take them all home with her. Nanaw went to Chase's house for dinner -- delicious pot roast. After dinner, Chase took his bath, and then Mama, Chase and Nanaw went downstairs to watch the Oscars. Daddy stayed upstairs to watch the hockey game. After a little while downstairs, Chase wanted to go upstairs with Daddy to watch the hockey game so Mama let him.

Nanaw wishes she had gone to Chase's soccer game this morning because he scored three goals -- a hat trick -- and they were the only goals his team scored. Mama brought Chase to Nanaw's house at 3 for his sleepover. He brought along his Sidney Crosby jersey to wear while he watched the Penguins play Philadelphia in Philly in an outdoor stadium. Nanaw and Chase went to the Dollar Tree on Lemay Ferry and bought lots of things for Chase: a seek and find, a Paw Patrol coloring book with Chase on the cover, a blue light-up football, a yellow squeezie thing and a book about wild animals. They also got frozen fruit punch and bottles of blueberry drink. Nanaw fixed pot roast for dinner, and Chase said it was good. Nanaw thought they would eat at the dining room table but Chase wanted to eat in front of the living room TV so he could watch the hockey game. The penguins lost the hockey game, and Chase had a major meltdown. He was absolutely furious. Finally, he calmed down and said that next time Sidney would save the game. It was very cute. Nanaw got Chase's bath ready for him but he said he was too tired to take a bath so she let the water out. A few minutes after that Chase was fast asleep.

Friday, February 22, 2019

When Chase came to Nanaw's house on Friday morning, he wanted to type his spelling words on the computer so Nanaw helped him do that. He also wanted to print them out, which they did. Next, he wanted to write a story, and Nanaw helped him do that. (Note: On the way back from taking Chase to school, Nanaw and her car almost got hit by a falling tree on Quarry Road -- it fell across the road about 20 feet in front of Nanaw.) When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he didn’t want to go to McDonald's for dinner tomorrow night at his sleepover. He said he would let her know what he wanted. Then he said he wanted pot roast. Nanaw said they were having pot roast on Sunday night before the Oscars, and then Chase said, "You can never have too much pot roast! That's what you said, Nanaw!" So they went to Walmart and got all the makings for pot roast plus $13 worth of Pokemon cards. Nanaw thought they cost $4. As they drove, Chase wouldn't tell Nanaw what he got on his spelling test. He said he wanted to type it in his story, which he did. He got an O! He printed out his story to take to Mama. In the story, he also said, "Don't throw this in the trash!" For dinner, Mama, Daddy, Chase and Nanaw went to Buffalo Wild Wings. Then they walked over to Dick's Sporting Goods to get roller blades and pads for Chase. Chase's ice skating teacher suggested using roller blades to help Chase learn to ice skate. Nanaw apologized to Chase for not going to his soccer game tomorrow morning but it's at 8 a.m. and she would have to get up at 6 a.m. in order to be ready in time to go. But she promised to go to next week's game because it's at 10:50 a.m. -- and it's also Chase's last soccer game of the season.

Thursday, February 21, 2019

On Thursday morning, Nanaw explained to Chase that he had to dress himself all by himself, without any help from Nanaw. And he did it -- except he had trouble with his belt getting caught in the loops so Nanaw helped with that. So this was a good thing. He wanted to take his Pokemon cards to school with him, and he showed them to one of his friends when he got there. Unfortunately, we think someone took his cards because he didn't have them in his backpack, and he cried when Nanaw asked about it. So Nanaw will not let him take anything to school again. Nanaw had car trouble and had to ask Mama to come home early to pick Chase up from school. But fortunately, the car trouble was just a loose wire, and Dobbs fixed it quickly and inexpensively so Nanaw was able to get Chase from school. After school, they went to Dollar Tree and bought more Pokemon cards for Chase. Nanaw had a wonderful time doing her volunteer work for the two groups in Chase's class. The kids are so cute and fun and funny, even if a little rowdy. Nanaw took pictures of Chase's group but forgot to take pictures of the other group. When Chase and Nanaw got back to Nanaw's house, Chase played abcmouse for the first time in forever. It was very cute, and Nanaw played along with him.

When Nanaw went to get Chase on Wednesday morning, she took Tee Tee with her, and Chase was very happy to see him. However, Mama said Chase did just fine without Tee Tee so Mama and Nanaw were happy to hear that. They decided that today was a dog day so they packed up all of Chase's dog stuffed animals to go to Nanaw's. When they got there, Chase posed for a picture on Pawpaw's bed with all the stuffed dogs, and Nanaw texted it to Mama. At school, Nanaw looked in Chase's locker and in the lost and found for the gloves Chase left there yesterday but couldn't find them. Chase showed Nanaw where on the locker he tore his pants. Nanaw was going to have Chase help pick up everything in Chase's room for the cleaning lady but decided to do it herself. Her plan then was to have Chase help her put together the speedway and the Hot Wheels track in his room.

Tuesday, February 19, 2019

When Nanaw took Chase to school on Tuesday morning, she saw that the two tables where he sits were shoved back together. Last week, Mrs. Neff separated them because one of the little boys and one of the little girls kept chatting with one another. Mrs. Neff said the boys and girls wanted the tables back together. So Mrs. Neff put them together and said the group was working on not chatting. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he had forgotten his water bottle . He told Nanaw he had spaghetti for lunch and that he had ripped his pants. He said his locker mate pushed him into the locker and tore his pants. Nanaw wasn't able to sew them so Mama had to throw them away. Mama says Chase also forgot his gloves at school. Then in the evening, Mama discovered that Tee Tee didn't come home with Chase. He was still at Nanaw's on the futon. Nanaw offered to take him to Chase's house but Mama said no, Tee Tee could have a sleepover. Mama wants Chase to become more responsible about things.
