Chase and Nanaw had an interesting day on Wednesday. Nanaw picked Chase and his guys up in the morning. She arranged with Mama to bring Chase back home around 10:30 so that Nanaw could go to her annual Edward Jones retiree lunch. It was a little later than 10:30, of course. Nanaw is always a little late but she'll try harder. When Nanaw took Chase back home, he brought the Love Hugs dog with him. Nanaw picked Chase up around 1:45 and they went to the cemetery and to the library to pick up the new Nora Roberts book for Mama. Next, they went to pick Mama up to take her to the Jeep dealer to get her car. Then they went to Dobbs where Mama bought two new tires. Next, they went to Telegraph Road Walmart so Mama could pick up the R2D2 backpack Mama ordered online for Chase. It's very cool, and Chase likes it a lot. Nanaw saw her friend Pat at Walmart, and Pat was happy to see Chase. She has a grandson named Landon who was born on the same day Chase was -- December 20, 2019. Landon leaves in Louisiana and has a five-year-old sister named Nora who has serious heart problems. They're coming up to visit their grandmother in September.

On Tuesday, Chase told Nanaw he wanted to go to the park with two playgrounds, one for little kids and one for big kids. He meant Des Peres Park in Manchester, next to Edward Jones. So they went. They took along Chase's swim clothes because he wanted to go in the water sprinkler. He also said he wanted to do the Ninja Warrior things at the playground. When they got there, he looked at the water sprinkler and said, "There's not much water," which there isn't. He climbed on the climbing walls, went down the slides, tried out the monkey bars, and did all the things that were like Ninja Warrior things. He decided he didn't want to do the water thing there at the park so Nanaw suggested they go to Sylvan Springs. First, they went to Schnuck's for cottage cheese. Chase got Mike & Ike candy. On the way to Sylvan Springs Park, Chase changed his mind and said he wanted to go home instead. Later in the afternoon, they went to the post office and then to the library park to try out the Ninja Warrior things. The little park is filled with them, and Chase was so excited. Luke from Chase's baseball team was there, and that made Chase very happy. When it was time to take Chase home, they met Mama at the jeep dealer (she was getting her oil changed).

Chase and Nanaw left early for a Monday adventure at the Science Center, even though it was pouring down rain. When they got there, the parking lot was full so they parked on the street. Unfortunately, when Chase got out of the car, he slipped on the wet grass and badly scraped his knee. He was crying and said he wanted to go home so they did. When they got home, Nanaw put antibiotic cream on what he called his "booboo" and bandaged it. Chase was very good and very brave. Chase played with his laptop, which made him feel a lot better. Chase and Nanaw went to Chase's house to bring in Amazon packages for Mama. Later, they went to the cemetery and to pick up a movie and book on tape at the library. Chase didn't want anything from the "bending" machine at the library. Mama was having dinner with Aunt Becca and Daddy was going to pick up Chase on his way home from work.

Nanaw came over to visit Chase on Sunday evening when she got back from the little house. Chase was excited to show Nanaw his new toys. He took her outside to the back yard and showed her a really big box filled with lots and lots of Nerf guns. The guns had belonged to Chase's three cousins, Mike Jr., Joe and Robbie. The guns were all at Uncle Mike's house, and Uncle Mike gave the box of guns to Mama when she was at Lindsey's party on Saturday afternoon. Chase showed Nanaw how to load the Nerf bullets into the guns and how to shoot them. He's really good at it, and he was really good at teaching Nanaw how to load and shoot. It was really fun, and Nanaw will do it with Chase again. For awhile, they shot the bullets at the hockey net and got points when the bullets went through the net.

When Nanaw went to visit Chase on Saturday morning, Mama told her that Chase had thrown up. Chase and Nanaw played together for awhile. The two Forkies that Mama ordered online came, and Mama gave one to Nanaw. Nanaw wrote a C on the bottom of Chase's and an N on the bottom of Nanaw's. Chase was supposed to go to Uncle Mike's party for cousin Lindsey on Saturday afternoon with Mama, Daddy and Nanaw but he threw up again after Nanaw left. So Chase and Daddy stayed home, and Mama and Nanaw went to the party. Chase was very disappointed because he had planned to go swimming in Uncle Mike's swimming pool. It was busy around Chase's house. Grandma Pat's two brothers came from Cleveland to visit her for a few days. Her youngest daughter and grandson Wesley were here from Tennessee and came to visit her a couple of times. Another one of her daughters came up from Tennessee to take the other daughter back.

Nanaw got lots of bonus Chase time on Friday. Mama and Daddy were off work but they had a mess to clean up downstairs. The blue room leaked from the rain again so they had to move everything out to the family room. So Nanaw volunteered to take Chase somewhere for an adventure, and Mama happily agreed. So Chase and Nanaw went to the big park. When they got there, to Nanaw's surprise, she saw Brady's grandma sitting at one of the tables. It turned out that Brady and Emmy were there with their cousins. Chase was extremely excited. He loves to play with Brady. Chase and Brady played for a long while. Chase had an especially good time playing Ninja Warrior on the monkey bars and on the movable pods. After Brady and Emma left, Chase an dNanaw played golf hockey in the enclosed court, which what they originally came to the park for. In the evening, Chase and Mama and Daddy went to the Monroe County Fair and Demo Derby. Mama said Chase had a really good time playing the games and going on the rides. She said he especially liked the demo derby cars crashing into each other.

Smoky Mountains Vacation Adventure -- Sunday, July 21 to Thursday, July 25, 2019

Mama, Daddy, Chase, Sam, Sylvester, and Nanaw went on a five-day vacation adventure to the Smoky Mountains and had a wonderful time. They stayed in a beautiful, charming cabin that Mama located through VRBO. Chase and Nanaw had the upstairs with two twin beds and its own bathroom and a cool winding staircase. The cabin had a fireplace, a hot tub, a deck and a porch. It was fully stocked and furnished and perfectly delightful. At Chase's request (and constant begging) they played miniature golf at three different places. Everybody got at least one hole in one -- Mama got three holes in one at their last game -- Yay Mama! On their first day there, the visited Ripley's Aquarium, and it was absolutely awesome. It was huge and filled with thousands of fish, sharks, stingrays -- everything imaginable. They rode the Anakeesta sky lift to the top of a mountain -- wonderful views. Up there, they walked on a sky bridge, which scared Nanaw a little bit. On Wednesday, they walked up a steep trail on a mountain to a waterfall. On the way up, Nanaw had to rest sometimes but it was much easier coming down. The dogs were very well-behaved and got lots of walks because Mama and Nanaw were always trying to get their 10,000 steps a day on their Fitbits. One night they had a wonderful, perfect dinner at the Old Mill restaurant; Chase and Nanaw had pot roast.

On Saturday morning, Nanaw went to visit Chase. Chase and Nanaw went with Mama to Aunt Becca's house to let her dog Buddy out. Aunt Becca and Uncle Stan went away for the weekend. Chase was so cute about showing Aunt Becca's house to Nanaw. He said, "Follow me," and led her through the house to all the rooms, then downstairs to show her the pool table. He said that sometime Nanaw should come with him to Aunt Becca's, and they could play pool. Nanaw took Chase's picture by the Stanley Cup that Aunt Becca made and by the pool table. When they got back home, Mama and Daddy went to pick up the rental van for the vacation trip. When they got back, they all went for a ride in the neighborhood to test out the van. It's really cool and comfortable and will work well for the trip. Mama told Nanaw that in the afternoon, they went to Dick's to spend the $20 gift card Daddy got from the Khoury League. He spent it on Chase for some kind of rocket, a bat and balls. Then they went to Buffalo Wings for dinner. Mama said Chase was talking non-stop, just like her. LOL.

Friday was Chase's last day at Magic House Camp. It was quite the success this year. On the last day, parents and grandparents are invited to come in at the end of the session to see what the campers achieved during the week. Chase was extremely proud of the pinball machine he made. It was made out of a cardboard box. They used throat sticks as the flappers and pipe cleaners for the hoops that a small, plastic golf ball went through. Chase did a wonderful job, and Nanaw was very proud of him. He took her over to the refreshments table for a cookie and a drink; it was very cute the way he did it. Mama didn't send any books with him on Friday so Nanaw found two of Chase's books at Nanaw's house for him to read: Tacky the Penguin and Ice, Ice, Puggy. In the afternoon, when Mama was finished working, she picked up Chase and Nanaw to go shopping for vacation snacks and things. First, they went to the Dollar Tree on Lemay Ferry to buy trip snacks at the Snack Zone. Next, they went to Walmart to get more snacks and the things that Mama needed. It was a fun trip. Chase is very excited about the vacation and was quite the chatterbox.

On Thursday morning, eager little Chase kept asking, "Is it time to go to Magic House Camp?" It was very cute. He absolutely loves it -- and Nanaw is so happy about that. On the way to camp, Chase would read only one of the books Mama sent -- Red Light, Green Light. He wouldn't read the Goodnight, Dora book because he said it was a girl book. LOL. He told Nanaw to tell Mama about it on the pickup call. Nanaw was so surprised to know that Chase is aware of the pickup calls. Nanaw told Chase when he's in school, she calls Mama everyday when she picks Chase up from school and calls that the pickup calls. Then she told Chase she also does a drop-off call, calling Mama in the morning after she drops Chase off for school. Chase didn't know about those calls and liked hearing about them. On the way home from camp, Chase read Red Light, Green Light again, saying that meant he read two books. Chase said he had a great time at camp. He wanted Nanaw to be a little later to pick him because he liked sitting and talking with his friends. Nanaw told him that wouldn't work because tomorrow was the last day, and parents and grandparents were coming in early to see what the boys and girls had done in camp. At the end of the day, Chase and Nanaw had school, but Chase didn't really want to do it. Nanaw managed to get him to do a page in the spelling book, spell ten words, do a punctuation page in the new language arts book, do an addition page and half of a subtraction page. Tomorrow, Nanaw will have school right when Chase gets home from camp. Nanaw showed Chase a picture of the bedroom at the cabin in the Smoky Mountains, and Chase chose the bed on the right, next to the clock, he said.

Chase had another wonderful day at Magic House Camp. He's quite the big boy now, undoing his own seat belt and letting himself out of the car all by himself. Very grown up. He said they'd played in the crafts area and made various things. They spent a lot of time in the water area, which made Chase very happy because that's one of his new favorite places at the Magic House. When Nanaw picked Chase up from camp, he opened the car door and put on his seat belt, with no help. Nanaw was so proud. Mama had made a doctor's appointment for Chase because he has an earache. The doctor said it was swimmers' ear and prescribed ear drops. Chase was very good and very cute at the doctor's office. Nanaw had Chase read books on the drive to and from the Magic House and to and from the doctor's office. He read six books so now he's all caught up. Uncle Mike came to cut the grass in the afternoon. It rained again but after Uncle Mike was finished so that was good.

Once again, Chase was very excited to go to Magic House Camp. He got himself dressed quickly, with no fussing or messing around. He ran into camp with barely a bye to Nanaw. Nanaw had to make her own orange pick-up sign with Chase's name because they never gave her one to replace the incorrect one. When Nanaw picked Chase up, one of his teachers put him in Nanaw's car and said, "Good-bye, Gorgeous." It was very cute. On the way home, Chase said he wanted to do science experiments this afternoon, like they did at Magic House Camp. He also said he wanted to be alone while he ate his lunch at his laptop. He said he'd been with 19 other boys and girls all morning, and he wanted to be by himself alone, just with Chase. Very funny. Then he told Nanaw she should watch television in the living room and that when he was done with his lunch, he would come see her and they would bond. Even funnier. Magic House Camp sent five cute photos of Chase to Nanaw. In the afternoon, Chase and Nanaw did a science experiment to see what would float in water and what would sink. Then they did the experiment from the Magic House: putting vinegar on baking soda to make it bubble up. Uncle Mike came to cut the grass, but it was wet from the rain so he's coming back tomorrow to do it. Daddy took Grandma Pat to the ER at the hospital because she wasn't able to eat anything, and Mama had a hair appointment so Nanaw got to keep Chase till 7 o'clock -- Yay -- bonus Chase time.
