Happy New Year's Eve!! Tuesday, December 31, 2019

Mama had the day off on New Year's Eve so there was an adventure in the morning with Mama, Case and Nanaw. But first Mama took Chase to the doctor to see about the grunt or cough that he's been doing for awhile. The doctor said his throat is fine and that it's probably just a tic. She said it will probably go away on its own in a couple of months. If it doesn't, she said it might be Tourette's. After the doctor, Mama picked up Nanaw and they all went to Dunkin Donuts. Next, they went to the library so Mama could select library books to check out. But first they did the scavenger hunt. Chase and Nanaw were excited to see that it was a new scavenger hunt. Next, they took lots of bags to Goodwill. Then they went to Walmart so Mama could get some last minute things for her New Year's Eve part. Chase stayed at Nanaw's house for awhile in the afternoon so Mama could straighten up the house. At the party, Uncle Stan and Aunt Becca came for awhile. Uncle Will Bill came for the whole party. Nanaw brought shrimp, and Aunt Becca brought chicken wings. Mama fixed lots of good food, including White Castle dip, Rotel dip, meatballs, bacon-wrapped smokies and whipped cream puffs. Chase stayed up till midnight -- everyone was very impressed.

Nanaw was excited that she got to spend the day with Chase, even though Mama had the day off from work. She wanted to straighten up Chase's room. When Nanaw picked Chase up on Monday morning, they went to the Train House. Unfortunately, Chase really didn't much want to go. When they got there at 10 o'clock, Nanaw checked to see what time the popcorn would be made and was told it would be 11 o'clock. When Chase heard that, he said they couldn't stay that long. He reluctantly agreed to do the scavenger hunt with Nanaw, even though he told her they'd already done it. Back at home, Nanaw got out the new Legos and spread them out on the living room floor. Chase and Nanaw played with the Legos and had a great time. Chase made a soccer field that was really cute. Chase played in his room for awhile, watching Chase TV. Later in the day, Nanaw asked him to straighten up his room, surprise of surprises, he did! At lunch, Nanaw shared her pot roast and carrots with Chase. He also had mixed vegetables and T Rav. In the afternoon, they played hockey, and Chase played on the laptop. Tomorrow morning, Mama is going to take Chase to the doctor to check on that coughing sound he makes all the time. Then they're going to pick up Nanaw and they're going to Dunkin Donuts, the library and Good will. Nanaw gets to keep Chase in the afternoon for a few hours while Mama straightens up the house for New Year's Eve. An explanation about what seems to be a random selection of photos: Chase's stuffed animals were watching Chase and Nanaw playing with the Legos; Mama had suggested Nanaw put a sweater on the skeleton hanging on the front door wreath, so she did; Nanaw put a little figure in the Walmart Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky gave her for Christmas and called it Nanaw at Walmart; Nanaw took a picture of grumpy Chase at the Train House; Nanaw also took a picture of the little guy coming out of his house on the train display because they hadn't seen him on their day after Thanksgiving visit to the display.

Chase had another soccer game on Sunday morning, to make up for the game the team didn't play the weekend before Christmas. Nanaw couldn't go to the game because of church. When Nanaw went to visit Chase on Sunday evening, she asked how the soccer game was, and Chase said it was okay. Then he said, sadly, "We lost." Nanaw asked if he was goalie again, and he said no. Mama made delicious pot roast in the Insta Pot. Everybody really liked it. Mama sent leftover pot roast home with Nanaw. Yay! After dinner, Chase and Nanaw played hockey in the living room. When they finished with hockey, they went into Chase's room and played soccer with his stuffed animals. As was the case with the hockey game, Chase won the soccer game, of course. After the stuffed animal soccer game, Chase and Nanaw tried out Mama's dog feet massager and her dog neck massager, and Nanaw took pictures of Chase wearing them. Next, Mama said she had to make Chase's bed. So Mama, Chase and Nanaw went into Chase's room. Mama had Chase help her tuck in the sheets and the comforter, and Nanaw took pictures of that. After the bed-making, Mama, Chase and Nanaw went back into the living room and sat on the couch while Mama read the book, The Crayons' Christmas by Drew Daywalt.

Chase had a soccer game on Saturday. Nanaw came over to his house and rode to the game with him, Mama and Daddy. He brought along his black and white soccer so he could practice with his team before the game started. Unfortunately, the opposing team seemed to be older, bigger and better than Chase's team. At the second half, Chase volunteered to be goalie. Mama, Daddy and Nanaw were concerned because they knew Chase would be upset at any goals he allowed. And he did allow several goals. But he also made some good saves and did some good kicks. Fortunately, Chase didn't seem upset about the goals he allowed, and Mama, Daddy and Nanaw were very happy about that. On the way home, Chase said he wanted to play hockey in the blue room. Daddy told him they'd already played hockey in the morning but maybe they could play again later in the day. Nanaw was excited about coming over to Chase's house for a Sunday dinner of Mama's delicious pot roast.

Mama had the day off work again on Friday, and she, Chase and Nanaw went on an exciting adventure to the Magic House. Nanaw thought it opened at 9 a.m. but it didn't open until 9:30. So they were too early. They went to Aldi's and then to Dollar Tree and had lots of fun doing that. Then they went to the Magic House. Their first stop was the Thomas the Train display. Mama had been wanting to see it. Chase and Mama had a great time playing with the Thomas trains on the track. Mama and Nanaw were surprised at how long Chase played with the trains and how much fun he had. They visited so many places and were there for more than two hours. It was probably their best visit to the Magic House ever. They went to the hockey place, the balls exhibit, the science lab, the arts lab, the library, the pizza house, the shadow wall, the senses room, and the sports room. It was all wonderful fun. After the Magic House, Chase and Mama decided to go to lunch at Arby's, where Nanaw had a salad, and Chase had a ham and cheese sandwich with two potato cakes, and Mama had a roast beef sandwich with two potato cakes. After lunch, they went to Walmart where Mama bought things for New Year's Eve.

On Thursday, Mama, Daddy, Chase and Nanaw had a super-duper adventure. In the early afternoon, they went to the Waterloo Cinema to see the new Star Wars movie: The Rise of Skywalker. They got lots of popcorn and soda to have during the movie. They tried to sit on the upper level of the theater but there weren't four seats together. So they sat down in the front, which Nanaw liked. The seats were big and comfortable. Nanaw got to sit next to her buddy Chase but didn't get to talk to him much because he was very engrossed in the movie. When it was over, he started to cry a little, saying, "That was sad." He's just such a dear, precious, sweet little boy. When they got home, Chase invited Nanaw to come in for a while. He showed her his Christmas presents again, more completely than yesterday. Nanaw had brought all his fishing supplies he got on Christmas, and Chase put them in his tackle box -- he was very excited about that. Chase, Daddy and Nanaw went downstairs and played hockey in the blue room for awhile. Daddy said that earlier in the day, he and Chase played hockey in the blue room, using their roller blades. After she left Chase's house, Nanaw went to Walmart and finally got the fruitcake she'd been craving, hence the picture of the fruitcake below.

Mama said Chase waited until 6:45 Christmas morning to get up and open his Christmas presents. Mama sent Nanaw a picture of Chase in his Christmas Snoopy jammies in front of a huge stack of Christmas presents. Chase told Nanaw a couple of days ago that he would wear his old man Snoopy jammies on Christmas Eve, and he did! Chase, Daddy and Grandma Pat went to church, and Mama and Nanaw went shopping at Walgreen's, their usual Christmas tradition. In the afternoon, after she got Tom Turkey in the oven, Nanaw went over to Chase's house to see his Christmas toys. In the evening, the family came over for Christmas dinner and presents. There were 14 for dinner, two less than Thanksgiving. Chase got lots of wonderful presents. He got bobbers and other fishing goodies to put in his tackle box. He got lots of orange outdoor field hockey balls, and a Bass Pro Shop gift card to buy more fishing tackle. From Nanaw, Chase got a big box of Legos that will stay at Nanaw's house for him to play with there. He also got a Fortnite Battle Bus, a Hot Wheels track, a casting reel for roasting marshmallows, and a crayon melter for making crayon figures. Nanaw got lots of wonderful presents, too. She got a beautiful lantern with a batter-operated candle and four candles from the grandkids. She got a candle, a mother-daughter ornament, an Echo Flex, a back-up CD Walkman, and the annual cat a day calendar from E.

Mama went into the office on Tuesday, Christmas Eve, so she dropped Chase off at Nanaw's house. Chase and Nanaw did some last minute Christmas shopping. First, they went to Walmart where Chase saw an air hockey game and a foos ball game -- he really wanted both of them a lot. Nanaw said they would come to Walmart after Christmas and buy them if they still had them. Then Nanaw decided they should buy them both right away. So they did. Next, they went to Schnuck's for strawberries for the fruit salad at Christmas dinner. Next, they went to Dollar Tree where they bought a present and card for Mama: a puppy calendar and a card from Sam and Sylvester. When they went home, Nanaw put together the air hockey game and the foosball game. Chase and Nanaw played the games and had lots of fun. After playing the games, Nanaw took Chase read the Elves book Mama sent, along with Cutie Bernie. Chase now says he wants an Elf on the Shelf. Nanaw took Chase home at about 3:30 so he could be at the Christmas party for Daddy's family. Nanaw went to her nephew Dan's house for Christmas Eve and had a wonderful time. Sherry gave her a container of delicious popcorn, and Uncle Doug gave her one of his famous calendars with lots of family pictures. Great-nephew Greg showed Nanaw his beautiful blue Mustang, and Nanaw was very impressed.

Mama worked at home on Monday so Nanaw went over to Chase's house to pick him up and bring him back to her house.  Nanaw was really tired so she took a nap while Chase played on the laptop and on Nanaw's phone. Mama texted Nanaw and Chase answered, telling Mama that Nanaw was sleeping. Then Chase called Mama, and she was so excited to get a phone call from him. Nanaw fixed the T Rav for Chase for his lunch, and he gobbled them all down. In the afternoon, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart to get things to make green Christmas tree cookies. But Walmart didn't have an green food coloring. So Nanaw had to postpone making the cookies till tomorrow. Nanaw bought Chase two bonus presents: a miniature air hockey table and a miniature foos ball table. When they got home, Chase and Nanaw played with the air hockey table. Chase said the foos ball table was too hard to put together until tomorrow so they'll do it then. They'll also bake the green Christmas tree cookies. Later in the afternoon, Chase and Nanaw played several Roblox games together, and Chase was so happy about that. Nanaw will have to remember to play Roblox with Chase lots and lots. In the evening, Chase and Mama went to the Columbia bowling alley to have a Christmas party and cookie exchange with the second grade boys and their mamas.

Chase went to church on Sunday morning with Daddy and Grandma Pat. Then he and Mama went to Auntie LaLa's house for a Christmas visit. The first thing they did was go to the skating rink where Chase took skating lessons and do free skating with little Will. Mama said they skated for about 45 minutes and had a really good time. Chase told Nanaw that little Will went really fast. Mama said that Chase fell down a few times but that he skated really well. Auntie LaLa gave Chase a goofy game for Christmas where you put weird devices in your mouth and look silly. Auntie LaLa made lasagna for dinner, and Mama said it was amazing. Nanaw has to remember to ask Mama if she got the recipe; if not, she should ask Auntie LaLa for it. Nanaw went to visit Chase when he and Mama returned home from their visit to Auntie LaLa. Chase colored in the Snoopy magic marker book he got for his birthday, while Nanaw watched. It was really cute. Then Chase and Nanaw had some of Chase's birthday cookie cake.

Nanaw went to visit Chase in the early afternoon on Saturday. He had her bring the two Dog Man books that live at Nanaw's house. They played library with all eight Dog Man books on Chase's bed. Then they played with the three Nerf pistols Chase got from Mama and Daddy for his birthday. Nanaw brought red and green Christmas corn chips for Chase, and they sat at the kitchen table while he ate them. Uncle Stan and Aunt Becca were there visiting. Mama fixed toasted ravioli for Chase for lunch, and he gobbled them down. (Mama bought a box of toasted ravioli at the grocery store on Saturday morning for Nanaw to feed Chase for lunch next week. After lunch, Chase put on his boots and went outside to play in the snow. Nanaw went out on the deck and took pictures of Chase kicking the snow and running around in the snow.
