School was a bit fragmented on Thursday because the cleaning lady was coming at 11, and Nanaw had to put lots of things away. But Chase managed quite well on his own. He did his morning work and then his Spring Prep, which was about using conjunctions to join two sentences. He was really good at it. He did some work on the centimeter and meter measuring but there will be several more pages of math tomorrow. Chase and Nanaw went downstairs at 11 when the cleaning lady came. Chase did some subtraction problems and then some workbook pages. When Nanaw took Chase home, he suggested that they do away with bad marks for Chase, Nanaw and Tee Tee. Nanaw thought that was a great idea and agreed that they would do away with all bad marks. In the evening, Mama and Chase worked on his Lego Challenge project. He made a special racing car. Mama sent Nanaw a picture with Chase and the car. Jack Skellington is driving and Carp and Shatty are in the back. That means Chris Carpenter, the Cardinals' pitcher, and the Blues Player, Kevin Shattenkirk.

When Nanaw picked Chase up on Wednesday morning, the little manipulator decided to work on Mama to see about getting to play on the laptop before school starts. Chase hugged Mama and asked nicely, and she gave him permission to play on the laptop before school started. Chase was very happy about that. Once again, Chae had a very busy day at at-home school. He did his morning work and then his Spring Prep. The Spring Prep page was categorizing various communications vehicles into three categories: persuade, inform and entertain. Chase did the categorization perfectly. Nanaw was so impressed and amazed and surprised. She had no idea he could do something like that so easily. (Nanaw took the page to show Mama when she took Chase home.) Then Chase did a good job on his April journal entry for this week. He wrote about his mom joining Roblox and how he helped her create her account and her avatar and how they played games together. He drew two pictures for the entry: Mama's old avatar and Mama's new avatar. Nanaw took a picture of the journal entry so Mama could read what her boy wrote about her Roblox adventure. Chase also read the Half-Chicken story again and tomorrow he'll answer the questions about the story for his homework he has to turn in to Mrs. Meyer. He did his spelling and his handwriting too -- he really accomplished a lot today. The first picture below is of Chase's pets waiting for Mama to give them her leftover cereal milk. The second picture is of Chase's April Journal entry.

When Chase got to Nanaw's house, he wanted to rest on the couch. So Nanaw got his blanket and pillows for him and put them on the couch and buried him under his stuffed animals. Chase had another busy day with schoolwork. There seem to be a lot of assignments this week. After he did his morning work, Chase and Nanaw went to the laptop to do his religion assignment. Nanaw finally figured out how to find the assignment. Chase read the pages out loud so that counted as his 15 minutes of reading for the day. After doing the religion reading assignment and answering the questions, Chase did the two pages of math that he has to turn in to Mrs. Meyer on Friday. Then he did his cursive handwriting assignment. He's getting really good at cursive. Chase told Nanaw that he and Mama played Roblox last night and that they had a good time. Nanaw opened Roblox so she could see Mama's revised avatar. It's very good. Nanaw also found a game called Dog Simulator and told Chase Mama should play it. He said she already had. LOL.

Monday, April 27, 2020

Chase and Mama told Nanaw that five Jacks wanted to come to at-home-school today so Chase and Nanaw arranged for that. Chase had lots of schoolwork to do today. He did morning work, Spring Prep, reading in the heavy book and answering the questions, handwriting, math (measuring in metrics), and a little bit of subtraction (Nanaw made a page of problems rather than showing him the flashcards). Nanaw had trouble find the correct place in the religion book and so did some of the others. Mrs. Meyer sent new links, Nanaw looked through the book names and figured it out. Chase did well with the handwriting, the math, and the reading. He's a smart little boy; unfortunately all he wants to do is play on the laptop. When Nanaw took Chase home, he started working on changing Mama's avatar on Roblox. She was very happy with the changes he made.

Sunday, April 26, 2020

Chase and Mama notified Nanaw that Mama set up her Roblox account on Sunday morning, much to Chase's delight. Her username is ErulesDP57 and her avatar is very cute. Nanaw went over to Chase's house for dinner. Chase was playing outside so Nanaw went out to see him. He was playing in the sandbox under the trampoline; the sand had water in it and looked like mud. Chase was having a great time squishing his hands through the mud sand. After the sandbox, Chase did some practice hitting with Daddy. He swung the bat into the tee ball holder into the baseball net 25 times. When they came in for dinner, Chase had to scrub his muddy hands really good. Dinner was delicious roast beef and twice-baked potatoes with bacon bits. Very yummy. After dinner, Chase and Nanaw did flashcards, addition and subtraction. Chase did perfectly with the addition but struggled with the subtraction. Nanaw said they would stop the addition for awhile and concentrate on subtraction. Mama and Nanaw went outside to watch Chase play in the sandbox. Then Mama and Chase played volleyball for awhile. Mama and Nanaw went to sit on the new patio couch while Chase and Daddy had a Nerf War -- very exciting.

Saturday, April 25, 2020

Mama said that she and Chase went over to Telegraph Road on Saturday morning to get gas. She said it's the first time Chase has gone anywhere but Nanaw's house and Jackson P.'s birthday parade since March 16 when he went to school for the last day. He hasn't seemed to mind not going anywhere; at least he hasn't mentioned anything about it. Nanaw went to visit Chase on Saturday afternoon, and it was an extremely busy visit. Mama, Chase and Nanaw had all kinds of activities planned, and unplanned. Here are the things they did: worked on the COVID-19 time capsule, did a word search together, had a scavenger hunt, and played for a long time with the super bouncy balls Mama bought for Chase at Schnuck's yesterday. Chase wanted Mama to set up her Roblox account on her Kindle but Mama said she would wait until tomorrow. Mama invited Nanaw over for a roast beef dinner on Sunday night.

Friday, April 24, 2020

Chase had a busy day at at-home school on Friday. After morning work and Spring Prep, he spent a couple of hours on his math assignments. The pages covered more measuring (Nanaw is getting tired of measuring). The pages also started learning metric measuring. Chase didn't get any bad marks today, and neither did Nanaw. Chase spent 500 of his Robux today to buy being a district manager in the game McDonaldsville. He was very happy about that. For lunch, Chase had his favorite: toasted ravioli. In the afternoon, the tree man and his helper came to cut down the dead tree in Nanaw's back yard. They did a wonderful job, cutting up the tree so Nanaw can use the firewood in her fireplace and cleaning up everything. After the tree guys left, Chase, Nanaw and Tee Tee went out into the back yard to take a picture of the logs, along with Chase and Tee Tee, to send to Uncle Mike and Mama. When Nanaw took Chase home, he and Daddy went outside to jump on the trampoline.

Thursday, April 23, 2020

Thursday was another good day with Chase and Nanaw and at-home-school. Chase decided to make a bad mark list for Nanaw, and he gave her a bad mark for tickling him. Then Nanaw had to give Chase a bad mark for not concentrating on doing his April Journal. But those were the only bad marks of the day. Chase's April Journal was about Minecraft and Roblox. For the April Journal, he drew pictures of his Minecraft and Roblox avatars. Chase and Nanaw had a special crafts session as part of art class at at-home-school. They worked on the Forky craft kit that Mama and Nanaw bought for Chase on one of their last shopping trips. (Nanaw misses going shopping with Mama.) Nanaw made a black bandit mask for Chase so he can pose with Mama, Daddy and Grandma Pat as the Four Amigos. Mama and Chase made a rocket for Chase's Lego Challenge assignment; Mama sent a picture of the rocket and Chase to Mrs. Meyer. Daddy made sure Chase knew the Hail Mary prayer and sent a video of Chase saying the prayer to Mrs. Meyer.

Wednesday, April 22, 2020

Chase and Nanaw had a much better day on Wednesday. Chase tried to behave better, and Nanaw had an idea for a process to help him behave better. If Chase did something bad, Nanaw would give him a bad mark. For every bad mark, he would lose one minute of computer time. If he gets 10 bad marks in a day, Nanaw would have to tell Mama and Daddy. Chase didn't get any bad marks so it ended up being a good day. Nanaw was supposed to have a video doctor's appointment but they couldn't get the technology to work so it ended up being just a phone call. In the afternoon, Chase had his Zoom meeting with Mrs. Meyer and his class. The assignment was for the boys and girls to share things about a book they've read. Chase chose Monsters, Inc. He gave the title, the characters, the setting and what he liked best. He did a fine job. The tree guy was supposed to come between 4 and 4:30 but he didn't get there till after 5:30. He's going to have an estimate for Nanaw tomorrow evening. During the evening, Nanaw made four black masks -- one for her and three for Mama, Daddy and Chase. Nanaw is concerned that some states are opening too soon. They need to wait until things are better.

Tuesday, April 21, 2020

Once again, Chase had lots of school work to do on Tuesday. There will probably be lots of work all week because of the homework due on Friday. Chase did morning work, one page of Spring Prep, flashcards, handwriting, math, reading The Goat in the Rug and the story questions, and workbooks. Nanaw got out the older books from Uncle Doug and put them aside for Chase. There's a wonderful Thomas coloring book; tomorrow Chase and Nanaw will color in it. Chase had toasted ravioli, mixed vegetables, yogurt, applesauce and chocolate milk for lunch. Nanaw decided that Chase was playing on the laptop too much so she had him stop playing Roblox and come into the living room to read a book. She gave him one of the Dog Man books he keeps at Nanaw's house -- Dog Man -- Brawl of the Wild. Chase read for awhile before Nanaw took him home. When they got to Chase's house, Mama said Chase and Daddy didn't have to go with her to the parade for her friend's birthday. So Chase and Daddy went outside to play on the trampoline. In the evening, Nanaw made a list of activities for Chase and her to do to keep Chase from playing on the laptop for too long a time. The activities are: hockey, baseball, coloring, kinetic sand, Play Dough, Legos and Roblox figures, reading, building a Roblox game, crafts, typing game and piano lessons.

Monday, April 20, 2020

Chase had a busy day at at-home-school on Monday. He did his morning work, the Spring Prep page, handwriting practice, math and flashcards. He has two big projects due on Friday, along with a list of regular homework. He has to learn the Hail Mary prayer and send a video to Mrs. Meyer showing him reciting the prayer. He also has to do the Lego challenge. He has to either build a dream house after winning the lottery or build a rocket after being asked by NASA to build a rocket. Daddy is going to do the Hail Mary memorization and video. Mama is going to do the Lego challenge and send a picture or video to Mrs. Meyer. They also discovered that on Wednesday's Zoom call, Chase has to report on a book he's read since school stopped or a book that he's currently reading. Mama is going to start him on the book tonight, then he'll bring it to Nanaw's house tomorrow to finish it. Mama told him to make a list of all the things he's supposed to report on during the Zoom call.

Sunday, April 19, 2020

Sunday evening, Nanaw went over to Chase's house to visit with him and to have dinner. Dinner was Daddy's delicious grilled wings and Mama's delicious rice dish. Nanaw brought along the difficult ones of the addition flashcards to practice with Chase. Of course, he didn't want to do them but Nanaw convinced him otherwise. He ended up doing well with them. Practice is making perfect. So he'll be ready to start on the subtraction flashcards. After dinner, when Mama had cleaned up the kitchen and Daddy had cleaned up outside, they all played The Game of Life, a game Daddy suggested and that Mama bought from Walmart online. It was really fun. Nanaw couldn't remember ever playing it before but maybe she did. Mama and Daddy both remembered playing it when they were young. Chase was the first to reach retirement and Daddy was the last one. Daddy won the game with over $4 million. Chase was second with $3 million 800,00. Mama was third with $2 million 500,000 and Nanaw brought up the rear with $2million 300,00. They will definitely play again.

Saturday, April 18, 2020

Nanaw didn't got to visit Chase on Saturday morning because she went out to the little house to pick up hang tags. Nanaw was happy to see the little house. She misses it. Hopefully, she'll be able to go out there soon. When she got back home, she texted Mama asking if she could come visit, and Mama said to come on over. Everybody was in the back yard. Chase was playing with his sandbox. Daddy had moved it under the trampoline. Then Chase played on the trampoline. Before dinner, Chase and Nanaw went for a walk out in the field. It will be wonderful when they make the field into a park. Daddy had gone to Top Shooters to pick up dinner. He brought back sausage and pepperoni pizza, wings and toasted ravioli. Mama invited Nanaw to stay for dinner, so she did. After dinner, Mama and Nanaw took the dogs for a walk. They have matching red and black harnesses that are very cute. When they got back from the walk, Chase said it was time to play hockey. Nanaw said she would watch for a few minutes before going home. It was a lot of fun to watch. Every time someone scored a goal, Chase insisted that they all hug.

Friday, April 17. 2020

Chase did lots of schoolwork on Friday at at-home-school. He did morning work, two pages of Spring Prep, handwriting, math and flashcards. Nanaw sent his homework to Mrs. Meyer and told her how much he likes the Zoom sessions. He had fun watching The Young and the Restless while he and Nanaw were downstairs. It was a rerun, all about a costume gala from 1991. He liked seeing all the  masks and costumes. Mama sent Nanaw a text saying the Illinois governor had announced that schools were canceled till the end of the year but not to tell Chase; she said she and Daddy wanted to tell him. Uncle Mike came over to Nanaw's house in the afternoon to cut her grass. Chase liked seeing him. Nanaw had Uncle Mike and Chase watch the video from 1991 that has lots of the family kitties in it, plus the young and handsome Uncle Mike. Mama came by to see Uncle Mike and to bring Chase's groceries for next week. Chase had requested Cheese-Its but the only ones Mama could find were really big ones. Fortunately, Chase liked them and didn't mind them being so big.

Thursday, April 16, 2020

Today was Grandma Pat's birthday, and everybody was saying Happy Birthday to her. Nanaw gave her a birthday card and a Walmart gift card. School go started later than usual on Thursday morning because Nanaw had to get the house ready for the cleaning lady. Before she started picking things up, Nanaw worked on getting the Minecraft game she bought for Chase on Amazon in January up and running again. Chase played it when he first got it but couldn’t make it work again. Nanaw finally got it fixed, and Chase played it for awhile while Nanaw worked. When Nanaw had everything done, they went downstairs. Nanaw brought all the school materials with them, along with their lunch. Chase worked on his morning work and his Spring Prep pages while Nanaw walked on the treadmill. Then Nanaw worked with Chase on the flashcards. He's getting pretty good at them. Nanaw is going to continue practicing with the cards and Chase twice a day. In the afternoon, Mama came to pick up Chase at 4:30 so that Nanaw can take her car to Dobb's for an oil change. Then Nanaw was going to go to the cemetery and to Walmart for vitamin A.
