Another day of no outside adventures for Chase but lots of inside adventures. He spent lots of time downstairs in his activity chair, watching his favorite shows on Disney Jr. and playing with the various pieces of his sports arena – the baseball bat, the combination hockey stick/golf club and all the balls that go with the arena. In the afternoon, Chase and Nanaw played with his toys in Chase’s Magic Kingdom (also known as the living room). Chase was getting a little rough with throwing his toys around, and Nanaw was trying to teach him about "gentle" – but didn’t get very far so will have to continue the "gentle" lessons. Lots of snow flurries but no accumulation. Sam's toy of the week was a candy cane from his red Christmas stocking.

Chase didn't have any outside adventures today. Nanaw wanted to take him to Walmart but it was raining so that got cancelled. Chase played in his room at Nanaw's and in the Pack N Play downstairs. Once again he threw most of the toys out of the Pack N Play and with great delight. Nanaw came for experimental dinner, and Mama fixed a delicious feast of fettuccine Alfredo (with bacon and mushrooms), Caesar salad and French bread -- all yummy. After dinner, Chase did some dancing to Mama’s music in the kitchen and then had a bath and brought his bath turtle with him into the living to play with.

Tuesday, January 29, 2013

Lots of adventures for Chase and Nanaw today. First, they went to Walmart, then went home for Chase to have breakfast and a nap. Then they went to Dillard's and the library. Everywhere we went, people talked to Chase and told him how very cute he is. He still has a little cough, and Daddy found out that he has bronchitis. It was pouring down rain when Nanaw took Chase home, and they both got wet. Mama made meat loaf for dinner so that will be good comfort food for her guys.

Monday, January 28, 2013

No adventures for Chase today -- just a lot of playing with his toys at Nanaw's house. In the morning, he ate a whole banana, one of his favorite foods. For lunch, he had his leftover hamburger and potato cake from yesterday's Arby's dinner. While he was playing in his room, he spent part of the time sitting in the box books, either looking at them or tossing them out. Mama had dinner with Aunt Becca and Uncle Emory, so Daddy and Chase had a father-and-son night.

Sunday, January 27, 2013

Chase’s big adventure for the day was having his first dinner of Arby’s (Mama’s favorite fast food). He had a junior Arby burger and half a potato cake, and Mama says he seemed to really enjoy it. In the afternoon, Nanaw came over to visit and take pictures and play with Chase. They went downstairs for awhile and Chase sat in his activity chair and was fascinated with the heater and the red glowing bars. Upstairs he played with his garage, and then when he got a little fussy, Daddy put him up on his shoulders, and Chase seemed to have fun playing with the pull chains on the overhead fan.

Saturday, January 26, 2013

Chase’s big adventure today was going with Daddy out to Wentzville to visit Grandma Pat and Aunt Patty. They gave Chase a big orange rubber ball, and Daddy said he carried it around almost the whole time he was there. For lunch, lunch they had Reuben sandwiches and Daddy shared his sandwich with Chase, who seemed to really enjoy it. Chase was supposed to go to church with Daddy in the evening but fell asleep instead. Nanaw came over to play with Chase for awhile before she and Mama went to see Silver Linings Playbook at the Waterloo Cinema.

Friday, January 25, 2013

Today’s adventure was Clayton Laptime. Ms. Jeannie wasn’t there so we had a substitute. Chase was smiling the whole time, and the substitute asked me if he was so happy all the time and I said yes, pretty much. The substitute didn’t do as many songs or books as Ms. Jeannie but she had a longer playtime. Chase and the other boys and girls really seem to enjoy the playtime so maybe that was a good thing. Chase has a little cough but doesn’t seem to be sick or to let it bother him. Today for the first time, he tried to put one of the kittens (Kole) in his mouth. Fortuntately, Kole escaped before Chase could do any damage. Chase seemed to have a grand old time taking books out of a box in his room at Nanaw’s. When about half of the books were on the floor, Chase got into the box and finished his work from there.

Thursday, January 24, 2013

Today was Chase and Nanaw’s day at Chase’s house. In the morning, Chase played downstairs in his activity chair and did some really loud bouncing in it. Chase ate a whole banana, in addition to fruit and cereal. He also had blueberries and made a real mess with them. Nanaw didn’t know that she should have fed them to him on a spoon rather than putting them on his high chair tray. In the afternoon, Chase and Nanaw went on an adventure Walmart. It was really cold outside so Chase got bundled up in his winter coat, a knit hat, his raccoon gloves and his boots that Grandma Pat bought for him. By the time, they reached Walmart, Chase had taken the hat, gloves and boots off and Nanaw had to put them on again. Walmart is putting in self-checkout lanes so Nanaw took a picture and sent it to Mama. Mama had dinner with Aunt Alice at a Mexican restaurant – yum! Sam’s toy of the day was his Santa, one of his Christmas toys.

Wednesday, January 23, 2013

Chase came over to Nanaw’s house today. For lunch, Chase and Nanaw had Mama’s delicious chicken enchiladas – Chase seemed to really, really like the enchiladas. Chase has a new favorite trick – he shakes the table in his room as hard as he can, rattling all the toys on it, and then gives his devilish laugh. In the evening, Mama texted a photo to Nanaw showing Chase with spaghetti all over his face – Mama said he seemed to like the spaghetti. What a good little eater he is! So far, there hasn’t been anything he won’t eat – even the trout that Aunt Becky prepared last Saturday night.

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Chase spent the day at Nanaw’s house and started out the day by sitting in his high chair and tossing Cheerios to his kitty Kole. Then he spent time in the Pack N Play and managed to toss out all the toys – He was a busy boy. Chase and Nanaw went to Laptime at the Telegraph Road library. During the story and song part of Laptime, Chase sat quietly and contentedly on Nanaw’s lap – something he does at each Laptime we go to. It’s very cute, and he seems to understand that’s what he should do before the playtime part of Laptime begins. When Miss Kim recited patty-cake to the group, Chase did his new trick of rolling his arms – very cute. He wore his tennis shoes for awhile but kept tripping on the puzzle floor so Nanaw took them off. In the afternoon, he seemed to have a great time pulling his books from Uncle Doug and Aunt Rita off the bookshelf.
