On Thursday, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart for their adventure of grocery shopping. The first thing they did was for Chase to ride Elmo, which he seemed to enjoy. Unfortunately, Chase couldn’t ride horsie because horsie was still broken. When Nanaw told him that horsie was broken, Chase said "Poor horsie." Very cute. In the afternoon, Chase and Nanaw went to Chase’s house to look at Daddy’s tent for his weekend float trip. Chase and Nanaw went downstairs to have school and then Chase played with all his trains and seemed delighted to do so. In the evening, Nanaw came over to Chase’s house for a superb dinner of baked chimchangas – one of Mama’s greatest successes – Nanaw wants to have them again soon. After dinner, everybody went outside to play with Daddy’s tent set up in the back yard. Chase seemed to have a great time; he even went in and out of the dog door in the tent.

Chase and Nanaw had another sad day because Nanaw had to have her 22-year cat Mikayla put to sleep. In the morning, Chase and Nanaw went to Barnes & Noble for story time. The story was about Hawaii, and the craft was a hula skirt. Chase also got a lei. As usual, his favorite thing seemed to be playing at the Thomas table. In the evening, Mama, Chase and Nanaw had one of the best of the summer’s adventures: Once again, they went to the Magic House for Library Night. Chase earned free tickets from the library for participating in the Baby Summer Reading Program – with help from Nanaw. Chase seemed to enjoy this summer’s visit to the Magic House even more than last summer’s. He investigated the government rooms, the construction site¸ the Blues room, the water room, the sand room, the harp, the squishy wall, the Rams room, a waterfall outside, the fishing creek, the pretend grocery store, the auto shop, several slides, the Raggedy Ann attic and tea party, the vet clinic and the people clinic.

Chase and Nanaw had three adventures today. The first adventure was a road trip out to Chesterfield to pick up some files from the president of the writing group that Nanaw belongs to. Chase was his totally charming self and received lots of compliments from the lady they visited. At her suggestion, Chase and Nanaw went to Faust Park, a new park for them to visit, about a mile from the lady’s house. Chase seemed to have a magnificent time in the great playground at the park – Nanaw had to run fast to try to keep up with his running around everywhere. They also went to the carousel that’s a famous part of the park. It only costs $2 a person to ride. Once again, Chase wouldn’t ride on one of the ponies but was perfectly happy riding in the cart. He saw am old-fashioned train in a display case and for him, that seemed to be the highlight of his trip to the park. After the park, they went to South County Mall to try out the riding vehicles Mama told them about. Chase rode on the fire truck and then tried out the sports car, but that scared him. The sports car rocked back and forth and had a video of speeding cars. He said, "Help, Nanoo, help," so Nanaw lifted him out. Sometimes he says Nanoo instead of Nanaw – very funny.

Chase and Nanaw had a quiet, sad Monday. Two-year-old Kole kitty passed away over the weekend, with no seeming reason. Mama came home from work at noon to get Chase while Nanaw took Kole to the vet. When Nanaw was finished at the vet, she picked up Chase and they went home and played downstairs with Chase’s trains, which seemed to make him very happy. Nanaw and Chase are going to miss Kole kitty – he was so loving and friendly and spent lots of time with Nanaw and Chase.
