When Nanaw got to Chase’s house, Chase, Sam and mama were sitting at the top of the steps waiting for her so Nanaw took a picture of them. Later in the morning, Chase and Nanaw went to the post office and then to Walmart. At Walmart, Chase gave people who talked to him a smile and a wave – totally cute. He was his usual delightful shopping companion and seemed to enjoy himself. Amazingly enough, in the afternoon, Chase sat on Nanaw’s lap while she read books to him – something that never happens. For Sam’s toys of the week, Mama got out a Santa Claus and a blue nubby loofah,

Chase had a non-adventure play day at Nanaw’s house. Just for fun, Nanaw put Chase’s outgrown shoes on four of his "friends" and then took a picture of them with Chase, who was playing with the iPad. For lunch, Chase had dinosaur nuggets, green beans and a banana. He was doing quite a bit of climbing, and Nanaw took a picture of him trying to reach one of the puppet show DVDs on the chest. He watched one of the DVDs today – Anansi the Spider -- and seemed to enjoy it. When Mama came to pick Chase up, he carried the tray of his high chair over to her, and she had him sit on it and pulled him around the living room. This was similar to the game they’d played last night at home with the top to his toy chest. Nanaw found the light switch plate with little children figures on it that Mama had in her room when she was a little girl and put it in Chase’s room.

Chase had two adventures today: a major one and a minor one. For the major adventure, Chase and Nanaw attended a puppet show at the Telegraph Road library. Nanaw wasn’t sure Chase would like it but Mama encouraged them to go – and it turned out perfectly. Chase seemed to really enjoy the show – Mother Hubbard’s cupboard, starring a dog. He sat on Nanaw’s lap watching the show for 45 minutes, pretty much a miracle. He clapped and laughed and looked around watching the other children. Nanaw bought him two DVDs of puppet shows, and he watched the one about the spider in the afternoon and really paid attention to it. The minor adventure was a visit to Schnucks with Nanaw. Nanaw held Chase’s hand and let him walk from the car into the store and then all around the store. Chase seemed to really enjoy all the walking. At the self-checkout, Chase made a break for freedom, and Nanaw had to run after him to catch up. Fortunately, another shopper blocked him as he headed toward the door and freedom.

Monday, February 25, 2013

Chase had a quiet play day at Nanaw’s house, with no outside adventures. Chase and Nanaw played one of the games out of his game book, called "All Gone," where Nanaw hid toys from Chase and said "all gone." Mama sent a spider book and Baby Owls with Chase for Chase and Nanaw to read. Chase had dinosaur bites, corn and blueberries for lunch. He seems to especially like blueberries. Nanaw took pictures showing Chase’s blueberry lips. Mama came to pick up Chase, and he was watching out the window of his room and got very excited when he saw her coming up the sidewalk – it was very cute.

Chase had a 3 ½ hour long shopping adventure at Kohl’s and South County Mall with Mama and Nanaw on Sunday afternoon. Mama needed to buy more clothes for the vacation trip. As always, Chase was an absolutely delightful shopping companion. As always, Chase was an absolutely delightful shopping companion. He seemed to enjoy himself and spent time charming other shoppers and salespeople. In the evening, Mama fixed a delicious pot roast dinner. Then everyone went downstairs to watch the Oscars. Chase played with his Mickey Mouse clubhouse and his balls and bats anad spent a lot time playing with Mama's laundry basket. At the end of the evening, Chase sat on Daddy’s lap and watched Mickey’s clubhouse videos on Daddy’s iPad.

Chase had a major adventure on Saturday morning: He went to a breakfast with Mama and Daddy and his best friend Jackson and his family at Jackson’s grandmother’s house. Chase and Jackson played together in a cardboard box. Chase played with Jackson’s airport and Jackson’s garage, which is just like Chase’s. Mama said Chase seemed to enjoy running into the sunroom. In the afternoon, Nanaw came over to baby-sit while Mama and Daddy went to the funeral home. Nanaw tried to start Chase on learning the alphabet but all he wanted to do was chew on the A so Nanaw is postponing the lessons.

Friday, February 22, 2013

Chase’s adventure today was wearing his snow boots that he got from Grandma Pat over to Nanaw’s house and having Mama help him put his feet in the snow – a first for him. During the day, he seemed to have a lot of fun playing with his toys in his room – and playing with visiting kitties. In the evening Mama sent two pictures to Nanaw. One was of Daddy feeding Chase, taken by Mama standing on a chair getting something out of a cabinet – an aerial view. The other picture was of Sam sitting out on the deck, seeming to enjoy himself in the cold – Mama said he didn’t want to come in.

Thursday, February 21, 2013

Chase’s adventure today was the first big snowfall of the winter. He spent a lot of time during the day looking out the window of his room at the snow falling. Nanaw gave him more new-to-him toys that his cousins played with when they were little, and he seemed delighted to have different things to play with. At the end of the day, Daddy came to Nanaw’s house to pick up Chase and shovel the driveway and sidewalk. Chase sat in the bugaboo chair at Nanaw’s front door with a huge smile on his face as he watched Daddy work.

Wednesday, February 20, 2013

Chase had three adventures today: playing with new-to-him toys that Nanaw had in storage from his five cousins, going to the vet to get Mikayla groomed and making a trip to Walmart. In the morning, Nanaw gave Chase several of the toys that his cousins had played with at Nanaw’s house when then were small. There was a Megablock farm, stuffed Ernie and Bert dolls, a regular farm, a cash register and a psychedelic-colored van that belonged to Mama when she was a little girl. Nanaw also gave Chase a cabinet that her father (Chase’s great-grandpa Henry) made for her when she was a little girl. The cabinet has doors and drawers that Chase seemed to really enjoy opening and closing over and over again. On the way to and from the vet, Mikayla and Chase were in the back seat of Nanaw’s car, and Chase spent the whole time talking to Mikayla and trying to reach in her cage. At the vet’s office, there was a big black cat in a cage, waiting for someone to adopt him. Nanaw took Chase in his stroller over to visit the cat, Chase seemed fascinated with him and talked to him and tried to reach in the cage.

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

Chase had several adventures today. The first was saying good-bye to Mama who was flying to Dallas for a job fair. The next adventure was a trip to Walmart with Nanaw. Then Chase and Nanaw went to Laptime at the Telegraph Road library. There was a good turnout again, even though it wasn’t the regular Laptime date. Chase seemed to have a good time playing with the blocks and with the other boys and girls. He escaped from the room several times, with Nanaw chasing after him, so Nanaw eventually closed the door. In the evening, Mama called Daddy, Chase and Sam from Dallas and talked to the on Facetime. Evidently, Mr. Chase kept pounding on Daddy’s iPad.
