Chase had a rather hard day on Tuesday, at least for part of it. Nanaw took him to see Dr. Charles for a follow-up visit about his ear condition. This time, his right ear passed the hearing test but his left ear didn't. The nurse Lisa said she thought she saw quite a bit of wax in his right ear, and Dr. Charles confirmed that. Dr. Charles said that because of the wax he was unable to see into Chase's eardrum to check if there is any fluid in his ear. Dr. Charles said he would have Lisa try to flush the wax out. She put some numbing medicine and some ear wax softening medicine in his ear. Then she brought in a machine with a tub of water and a wand that she used to try to flush out the wax. She put a diaper around Chase's neck and had Nanaw hold his head still. She tried several times but was unable to flush out the wax. So Dr. Charles wrote instructions for Mama to use some earwax softening medicine called Debrox every night on Chase's left ear for one or two weeks. Then Chase should go in for another follow-up check-up. Everyone was hoping for good news at this check-up but it didn't happen yet. One of the few good things for Chase on Tuesday was that he got to see Uncle Mike when Uncle Mike came to cut Nanaw's grass.

Nanaw went to visit Chase Monday morning and to take him to the playground in the little park next to the Columbia Library. Mama decided to come along, and Nanaw suggested that she bring Sam, which she did. So it was quite the adventure. Chase had a grand time, playing on all his usual things -- the monkey bars, the slides, the tunnel. Nanaw got his little Hot Wheels out of the car for him, and he and Nanaw raced the little cars down the slide. Nanaw also went down the slides with Chase, and Mama took a picture of them at the top of the slides. Mama took Sam for a walk around the park even though he'd already had his walk for the day. Chase, Mama, and Daddy were going to the race track in the afternoon with Uncle Will Bill, Aunt Becca and Uncle Stan. Mama sent Nanaw two pictures from the afternoon's adventure. Cousin / granddaughter Lindsey came to visit Nanaw, and the two of them went to Jefferson Barracks Cemetery to visit Pawpaw and a friend of Lindsey's and a relative of Lindsey's cousin Dan.

Chase had all kinds of adventures on Sunday. He and Mama went to Dollar General and Dollar Tree, and Chase got two My Little Pony figurines and a packet of flags. Mama, Daddy and Chase went to Jackson's house for dinner and to go swimming in their subdivision's swimming pool. Mama said after dinner, Jackson helped Chase get undressed so he could put on his swimming trunks and that it was very funny. Jackson gave Chase a Chase Paw Patrol figure. Jackson also gave Chase, Mama and Daddy a piece of note paper when they left, telling them it was a note. When Chase, Mama and Daddy got home from Jackson's, Nanaw came to visit. She and Chase played the Angry Birds game on Daddy's iPad Mini, and then Nanaw put Chase's pajamas on him in preparation for bed. While she was getting him into his pajamas, Nanaw told him an Angry Birds story that she made up. Chase listened very closely to the story - -it was cute to watch. Tomorrow morning, Nanaw is going to visit Chase at 9 a.m. and take him to the little park for an hour. The first picture below is one from Saturday that Mama sent to Nanaw.

Nanaw went to visit Chase on Saturday morning before she went out to Aspenhof. They had fun playing together – first they played the Thomas matching game, and of course, Chase won – especially because Nanaw forgot to bring her glasses so she couldn’t see the cards very well. Then they played kick in the kitchen with a few of Chase’s bouncy balls. Mama told Nanaw about the menu for Saturday night’s dinner with Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky. Mama was fixing chicken tetrazzini, garlic bread, salad and orange dump cake. Mama went to the grocery store, and while Daddy was vacuuming the house , Chase and Nanaw went downstairs to play with the plastic Easter eggs like they did last week. Then Chase decided they should go upstairs and play with the Easter eggs on his bed so that’s what they did.

Chase had three adventures on Friday. His first adventure was going to the vet with Nanaw and Taylor for Taylor's annual check-up. Chase was very cute with Taylor, talking to her and playing with her with her toy. He was happy to see the Nemo fish in the vet's aquarium and another mystery fish with long, sticklike legs. One of the vet's assistants said she thought the mystery fish was a shrimp. Chase's next adventure was visiting the Train Store in Valley Park. Chase had a grand time playing with the trains on the huge train table. The train that runs along the ceiling was running today and all the children were mesmerized by it. After Chase's nap, Chase and Nanaw finished watching Finding Nemo together. Mama called Nanaw and invited her to go along with Mama, Daddy and Chase to dinner at Buffalo Wings. It was a delightful dinner, and Chase had lots of fun with Daddy at the vending machines. They got a big red ball out of one of the machines and a big handful of candy out of another one. Chase had a great time and was very entertaining.

Thursday was the first day of Chase's and Nanaw's summer vacation. Their adventure was a visit to the Train House. Miss Linda was extremely happy to see Chase and Nanaw. Chase and Nanaw played together on the train tables and on the big table with the cars and the houses. Chase wanted to build a train track so Nanaw helped him with that. Once again, Nanaw was impressed at how well Chase puts the wooden tracks together -- he really knows how to build the train track. It took a few minutes for Chase and Nanaw to locate Paint-Splattered Thomas and then a few more minutes until the little boy playing with it went on to play with something else. But finally they were able to play with Paint-Splattered Thomas. Mama ordered a Paint-Splattered Thomas from eBay, and it was supposed to be here already. So Mama sent an e-mail to the seller to check on the delivery date.

Wednesday was Chase's last day of pre-school -- Nanaw was probably sadder about it than Chase was. Nanaw thinks he probably doesn't understand that he won't be going to school again until August 17. Nanaw had planned to take Chase to the playground in the little park, the Columbia Library, McDonald's and Dollar Tree. Unfortunately, a combination of Chase and the weather changed those plans. Chase wanted to go to McDonald's first, not the playground. Chase and Nanaw had to wait a few minutes to order at McDonald's because their computer system was down. While they were waiting, they talked with Audrey from Chase's pre-school class and her mom, who were also getting food at McDonald's. Chase was very happy to get another Angry Birds toy in his Happy Meal. When Nanaw took Chase home, Mama told him they were going to do water balloons outside. Chase invited Nanaw to stay and play with the water balloons, and Nanaw was delighted to stay.
