Nanaw went to visit Chase first thing on Saturday morning before she went out to the little house. They did one of the workbook pages, then went into the living room so Chase could show Nanaw how to play Roblox on her iPad. After a little while, they went back to the kitchen for more school, this time reading one of the Biscuit stories from the library book they checked out. Mama was in the kitchen, too, working on her list for the grocery store. After the story, Chase and Nanaw went back to the living room for more Roblox. This time Daddy was there too, and all three of them played Roblox. But Nanaw still doesn’t really know how to play. Her assignment for the weekend is to figure out how to properly play the game so she can play with Chase – it makes him very happy. Nanaw left when Mama returned from the grocery store. Later, Mama texted Nanaw to tell her she’d made cheese quesadillas for her and Chase for lunch and that Chase said it was better than the one he had a Super Hero Camp. In the afternoon, Mama, Daddy and Chase went out to Wentzville to visit Grandma Pat. Then they had dinner at Outback with Uncle Chris, Aunt Kristen, Cesi and Elias. Next they went to see Cesi’s play, Annie. Mama was very excited because the girl who played Annie brought her dog to be in the play. Mama says Chase fell asleep during the play; she and Daddy didn’t think he was feeling 100%.

Friday, June 29, 2018

Sad Friday -- the last day of Super Hero Camp. Chase says he had a really good time, and he was sorry that it was going to be over. He said he wondered if they would have a graduation (they didn't). Once again, Chase wore his Super Hero cape, and once again, the Three Amigos (Chase, Brady and Andrew). Chase had forgotten his water bottle yesterday so Nanaw took it with her when she left. When she picked Chase up, he had lots of crafts to bring with him: a catapult, two bowls (one that was painted glass, one that was covered with glued yarn), and two pictures. He couldn't find the salt picture that he made but he didn't seem to mind. At home, Chase and Nanaw played with the spelling cards and did some math. They were going to read one of the Biscuit stories but Uncle Mike came to cut Nanaw's grass so they went to visit with him. Nanaw tried to show Uncle Mike how to use the Garmin for their trip to Gulf Shores but it wouldn't recognize Alabama. Mama came over to see what she could do but she couldn’t do anything either. She took it home to Daddy, and he tried to download new data but it took too long so Uncle Mike is going to borrow cousin Robbie's equipment.

Thursday, June 28, 2018

On Thursday morning, Chase and Nanaw were talking about playing field hockey, and Chase said they would have to go to Dunk's to get equipment -- that's what Chase calls Dick's Sporting goods -- very funny. Once again, Chase was happy and excited about going to Super Hero Camp. Nanaw went to Chase's house in the morning while the cleaning lady was there. She took a picture of Sam and sent it to Mama. When Nanaw picked Chase up from camp, he brought three things home with him: a oainted rock, another suncatcher (this one was flat), and a card for Mama and Daddy (altho it said Mom and Dad inside and that Chase loved them for kisses.) Back at Nanaw's house, Chase and Nanaw painted some rocks, then had school. Nanaw is very proud of how well Chase is reading. She will continue to help him this summer. Thursday night was Chase's first night at hockey practice. Mama said it didn't go too well because Chase kept falling down on the ice and then had to sit on the bench. His friend Ethan from Mrs. Murphy's class was there and Ethan tried to help Chase. Hopefully, it will all work out.

Another exciting day at Super Hero camp for Chase. He wore his super hero cape and headband and looked very cute. Nanaw took a picture of Chase, Brady and Andrew before she left. Then as she walked to her car, she heard some tapping on one of the windows of the school and there were the three boys waving at her, so she took another picture of the "Three Amigos." When Nanaw picked Chase up from Super Hero Camp, he had a bag of play dough they made, plus two line art pictures -- where they glued yarn to paper and painted it. For lunch, they had soft and hard tacos -- Chase chose soft. For their afternoon snack, they made blizzards -- Chase said his had chocolate chips and M ah Ms, as he calls them. On the way home from camp, Chase and Nanaw stopped at the little park by the Columbia library and played with Brady and Emma. It was really hot outside so they didn't stay too long. When they got home, they went to play in Chase's room so Nanaw could show him how she cleaned it up today because the cleaning lady is coming on Thursday. When it was time to go home, Chase and Nanaw went to his house to pick up Daddy and go to Dobb's so Daddy could pick up the Rav4, which got new tires and a tune-up. They dropped Daddy off at Dobb's and then Nanaw took Chase home. While they waited for Daddy to get there, Chase and Nanaw played hockey in the living room.

Chase was excited to return to Super Hero Camp on Tuesday. When Chase and Nanaw left for camp, it started to pour down rain. The wind blew and the thunder rumbled. Nanaw gave Chase her Cardinals' umbrella and Nanaw used Pawpaw's red, white and blue golf umbrella. When Chase got to camp, they had the super hero figures and vehicles from last year out for the boys and girls to play with. When Nanaw picked Chase up, he had on his super hero cape with a big A on the back; Chase said the A stands for amazing -- and that he is. After camp, Chase and Nanaw stopped at the vet to make an appointment for Taylor for next Monday, then to the bank for money, then to Dollar Tree. Chase got a $14 haul, including six Paw Patrol figures, two golf clubs, three Transformer mini winebags, some pea seeds, and two stuffed animals. For awhile, Chase and Nanaw played in his room, then went to the kitchen counter for school. Chase had seen a tornado warning on the TV in his room, and he insisted on having the TV on the kitchen counter on so he could watch for tornado warnings. Mama told Nanaw in the evening that he was doing the same there, reading the warnings on the TV. He's just like his Uncle Mike when he was a little boy -- and now.

Monday, June 25, 2018

Monday was Chase's first day at Super Hero Camp at his school. His friends Brady, Cole, Stella, Andrew and Emmalyn were there. Drew was supposed to be there but Chase said he wasn't. Chase says they made pizza for lunch and that it was good — there was also applesauce and salad but he says he didn’t have any salad. He made a sun catcher and a wind sock, along with his super hero cape. He said he had a really good time. They went out to play on the playground, and Chase got dirty as usual. When Chase got home from Super Hero Camp, he and Nanaw watched Jurassic World for awhile but Chase then decided he didn't want to watch it anymore. Nanaw had to clean Chase up because on Monday night he and Daddy were going to the Grizzly stadium to see cousin Kyle play baseball. After Chase and Nanaw stopped watching the Jurassic World movie, they had school at the kitchen counter. They read the Molang Butterfly Chase book and did some math.

Nanaw went over to Chase's house for dinner. When she got there, Mama was sitting outside at the patio table, recovering from her activities with Chase and Daddy. They played baseball and then trampoline volleyball. Mama was worn out and overheated but she said she had a good time. Daddy was grilling onion burgers for dinner. Nanaw played trampoline volleyball with Chase for a few minutes but she didn't do very well at it, and she quickly got tired so she went inside to see Mama. After dinner, Chase and Nanaw read his Thomas book from the library but that was the only school they did. Mama said she and Chase did an hour's worth of school today. Chase, Mama and Nanaw sat at the kitchen table and ate a box of Mike and Ike's. It was very fun and silly. Then the three of them went into Chase's room. While Mama folded Chase's laundry in there, Chase and Nanaw played various versions of hockey and played at getting fish for Chase's stuffed penguins.

Early Saturday morning, Mama and Chase came to visit Nanaw before they had their Zoo adventure. Mama, Chase and Nanaw all played school together at the kitchen counter. Chase read the Biscuit book, and then did some pages from the kindergarten review book. He also finished doing his sight words from yesterday, and today he did a better job. Mama said she and Chase would do some coloring and writing when they got home from the zoo in the afternoon. Mama posted very cute pictures of Chase and zoo animals on Facebook. In her post, Mama said "Zoo fun with Chase – he’s my date while Will is golfing!!! #weloveanimals." At the gift shop, Mama bought Chase a stuffed penguin. Chase named the stuffed penguin Sidney Crosby the Penguin. What a character Chase is!

Chase and Nanaw went to the Train House on Friday, the first time they’ve gone since before Miss Linda passed away in January. It was just too hard to go without having her there. And also, it was a beautiful cool day to go look at all the trains. When it’s really hot, it’s no fun to climb around looking at the trains. Chase was excited about taking his people in his Wells Fargo bag because that’s where Mama and Daddy work. At the Train House, Chase and Nanaw had lots of fun riding on the train and counting Oney’s bones. For dinner, Mama, Daddy, Chase and Nanaw went to Buffalo Wild Wings. Chase had fun watching Mama, Daddy and Nanaw answer the trivia questions on the TV screens. Then they went to Dick’s to get more hockey equipment for Chase.
