Mama had the day off on Friday so she kept Chase till 9 a.m. and then brought him over to Nanaw's. The first thing Chase and Nanaw did was go to the garage door place. For some unknowable reason, Chase likes going there and never protests going. Today he discovered that they have big glass jar of mints. Nanaw got one for him, and he put it in his pocket for awhile, then finally ate it. Nanaw arranged to get a new opener, and it will be installed on Monday. Hopefully, this will solve her garage door problem once and for all. Nanaw now appreciates her garage and hadn't realized how easy and convenient it makes things. After the garage door lace, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart to do Nanaw's grocery shopping. Mama had taken $5 out of Chase's billfold/wallet for him to use to buy something at Walmart. He was very good while they were shopping and so cute in holding onto the shopping cart with Nanaw. He picked out a stuffed lamb covered in sequins, just like the stuffed animals he saw at the Zoo, where you rub the sequins and they change from one color to another. For school things, Chase read two books to Nanaw, did 10 spelling words and played with a new iPhone app Nanaw downloaded. It's a crossword puzzle app for kids, and Chase really liked it.

On Thursday, Mama, Chase and Nanaw had a major adventure: a trip to the Zoo. Chase took along Fred the flamingo and Tee Tee to keep him company. The first thing Nanaw did was to get a bag of kettle corn to eat as they walked around the Zoo. They saw lots of animals: elephants, lions, zebras, giraffes, penguins, puffins, the one polar bear, the flamingos of course, and lots of ducks, birds and swans. They went to the Lakeside Café for lunch; Mama and Chase had cheeseburgers and cheese fries; Nanaw ate her kettle corn. At the gift shop, Chase got another stingray, which he named St. Louis Stingray. After the Zoo, they went to Barnes & Noble at Gravois Bluffs so Mama could buy a world atlas of maps for Chase (and herself). She also bought a St. Louis blues coffee table book and a cool summer workbook for Chase. Next, they went to Home Depot where Mama bought a new electric stove.

Chase and Nanaw had a quiet day at home on Wednesday. Nanaw wanted to clean up Chase's room for the cleaning lady on Thursday. Plus, they're having an exciting day of adventures on Thursday with Mama. They've going to the Zoo; and they're going to Barnes & Noble to buy a world atlas for Chase (for Mama too, so she can learn where Puerto Rico is, along with other places). They're also going to Home Depot so Nanaw can buy anti-bird netting for her grapevines, and Mama is going to look at stoves because their stove is broken. Chase read two Pete the Cat books today while Nanaw worked on picking up marbles, rocks and little figures from his floor. Mama went to a work happy hour and couldn't go to Chase's baseball game. It looked like rain so Nanaw decided not to go either. Nanaw went to the library to pick up Chicago Fire for Mama, and she found Tee Tee in the back seat. So she took Tee Tee and Chicago Fire to Chase's house and put them on the Good-bye Shelf. It started to rain, and Nanaw was happy she had decided not to go to Chase's baseball game. The first picture below is Chase with his "Bomb Pop lipstick," as he called it. The second picture is the boys waiting for lunch meat when Nanaw and Chase went to chase's house in the afternoon to let them out. The third picture is Chase falling asleep on the way to his house to let the dogs out.

Chase and Nanaw went downstairs to play school first thing on Tuesday morning. They did a crossword puzzle in one of the workbooks and learned about homophones (words that sound alike but mean different things). Chase really likes crossword puzzles so he had fun with this. Next, they went to the garage door place. Nanaw wanted to buy a new garage door but the lady said they'd send a repairman out first. After the garage door place, Chase and Nanaw went to the Columbia Library to sign up for the summer reading program. Chase got a tee shirt. They also got a library calendar so they know when Tales to Tails is in June. Chase can go read to Fred and Bella -- they have two dogs in the summer. Chase read his two books to Nanaw, and she entered the information on the computer for the County Library reading program. She'll also enter the information for the Columbia Library. Chase played on the laptop for awhile after they got home, then they went outside. Nanaw watered the plants, and Chase played in the water and in the sprinkler. For awhile, Chase and Nanaw played water baseball. Chase got to stay at Nanaw's house until 6:30 because Mama had a hair appointment, and Daddy had to work late.

Nanaw went to visit Chase on Monday morning. Nanaw brought a new workbook she bought titled Morning Activities, and she and Chase worked on the first page together. Then they looked on Chase's tablet and Nanaw's iPad for Math games and flashcards. Nanaw thinks the best way to do schoolwork things with Chase will be on devices and the laptop, to make it seem like playing games. After they finished the schoolwork, Chase and Nanaw went into his room to play. He decided they should play restaurant with his "amamals." Chase got out his pizza set and made pizzas for the customers. He also served lemonade, chicken nuggets and brownies for dessert. Mama was making party potatoes for the party they were going to in the afternoon. They were going to Uncle Chuck's house in Troy. Uncle Chris was bringing water balloons, which made Chase very happy. Nanaw's garage door broke again when she was leaving for the cemetery. Fortunately, it didn't crash down on her car. She asked next door neighbor Dan for help again and got a delicious, yummy pork steak So Nanaw is probably going to get a new garage door.

On Sunday afternoon, Nanaw sent a picture of the Stingrays to Chase by way of Mama, telling them the Rays were taking a nap. On her way home from the little house, Nanaw stopped at the cemetery and took pictures of the Memorial Day flowers and flags. When Nanaw went to visit Chase on Sunday evening, Chase and Mama told Nanaw all about the watch party on Saturday evening and their adventures on Sunday while Daddy was playing golf. Chase said he had a really good time Saturday night playing with little Will. They brought a horse named Majestic for Mama and they gave the plush pet dog to Chase. Mama says they cleaned out the toy room on the 3rd floor of their house and brought things for Chase and Mama. On Sunday, Mama and Chase went to JC Penney for Blues items and then to Dick's for more Blues items. They met Mama's Canadian friend Paul at the driving range to get more Canadian candy from him. Chase and Nanaw played hockey downstairs for awhile. When they came upstairs, they played two games of Weather Bingo with Mama. Then Chase and Nanaw did some math and language workbook pages. Then Nanaw was excited to discover that Chase knows how to play Word Connect. So Mama, Chase and Nanaw sat on the couch playing Word Connect, and Nanaw thought it was lots of fun. Nanaw told Chase he could play Word Connect on her iPod tomorrow; she tried to find it on her iPad but it seems to be missing so Nanaw will have to do some detective work.

Nanaw went to visit Chase on Saturday morning, and Mama had put Sylvester’s scarf on him. He looked very cute. Chase and Nanaw decided to go to Dollar Tree to buy the Silly Putty they didn’t get yesterday, Mama went to Schnuck’s to buy things for her Cardinals watch party Saturday night, while Daddy vacuumed. At Dollar Tree, Chase and Nanaw bought two Silly Puttys, a poop putty and a Goofy Putty. Chase also selected a ball scoop toy, and a cute little stuffed bear. Nanaw picked out a chess set so she and Chase can learn how to play chess and join Mrs. Herrmann’s chess club. When Chase and Nanaw got back to Chase’s house, they played with the scoop ball set in the back yard. Then Nanaw left to go to the little house. She took 40 to 70 to get out there in case highway 47 was closed at the Washington Bridge. Chase was very excited about little Will coming to Mama’s watch party Saturday night. Chase got a stuffed dog, and Mama sent Nanaw a picture of it. The Cardinals won the baseball game so the watch party was a success.

First thing on Friday morning, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart to do Nanaw's weekly grocery shopping. Chase was so good and so helpful to Nanaw. She bought him a Hangman game and some Airhead candy. After Walmart, Chase and Nanaw went to the Magic House. Fortunately, this time it was open. They had a super time. Chase played in the craft area and drew pictures and colored the airplane pictures. They saw their dark-haired friend that works there. The, Chase went to play with the Legos; next he went to the ice cream cone area. Then he went upstairs to the pizza parlor. His next destination was the grocery store, then the vet's office with all the pets. He played in the hockey area and the bubble area. They went upstairs and did a lot of Chase's favorite things up there. Of course, Chase didn't want to leave when it was time to go but Nanaw promised they would come back next week, and then they would visit all the displays and activities that they didn't visit today. In the afternoon, Chase wanted to play outside in the water so Nanaw got his swim suit and shirt and his towels and turned on the hose for him. He filled up his pool and then did a car wash with his Big Wheels. Chase read three Thomas stories to Nanaw; two of them while they were driving to the Magic House, which worked really well. They did a few minutes on the piano, and went through the three tables a couple of times.
