Chase's Friday adventure destination was one of his favorites: the Train House. When Chase and Nanaw arrived at the Train House, the 9:15 Creation Station session was already filled up so they registered for the 10:30 session. They went to ride on the train, and then on the hand cars, two things Chase loves to do. Next, they walked up the hill and went to look at the antique cars. Then they went farther up the hill to walk through the trains. By then, it was almost time to go to the Creation Station. But first they bought popcorn -- Chase's best treat at the Train House. Chase was so happy to see Miss Linda and she was happy to see him. He did crafts with Miss Linda and a tea party with Miss Linda and Nanaw in the kitchen. He had a parade of his own with the bells and the decorated box -- very cute to watch. His final activity was exploring the caboose and playing with the typewriter. In the evening, Chase went to dinner at Tequila's with Mama and Daddy -- Nanaw should have invited herself to go along -- she loves Mexican!

Chase's adventure for Thursday was going to Story Time at the Telegraph Road Library. Miss Kim read lots of stories about super heroes, Batman and bats. The children also sang songs about bats. Chase sat close to the other boys and girls but wanted Nanaw to sit on the floor with him. The craft was coloring and cutting out a Batman mask. Chase's favorite things were the scissors and the hole punch. After Story Time and crafts, Chase and Nanaw went into the library so Chase could play. He made friends with a little girl named Bridget. They played with the alphabet stencils and seemed to have a good time together. It's so cute to watch Chase make friends with other boys and girls -- he's going to have a wonderful time in pre-school. Speaking of pre-school, it starts on Wednesday, August 19. Daddy e-mailed the school to tell them Chase isn't fully potty trained and they said that's probably okay but that Daddy should contact the teacher just to make sure. When Nanaw took Chase home, Daddy wasn't there - Mama said he'd gone to try and find another swimming pool for Chase but he didn't have any luck -- everyone was sold out.

Nanaw tried the new plan with Tee Tee being in Chase's bed rather than getting lost and the plan worked well, although Chase missed his wuff-wuff, as he calls Tee Tee sometimes. Chase and Nanaw had story time with Spot and two of his books, then played downstairs until time for the day's activities. The adventure for Tuesday was a visit to Powder Valley. Chase had a great time running around looking at his favorite things. He also made friends with a little girl named Kaylin. He followed Kaylin around to the various displays, and they seemed to have a really good time. After Chase and Nanaw were done in the Nature Center, they went for a walk on the easy trail, the Tanglewood Trail, because it was so hot and humid outside. Mama came to pick up Chase a little after five so she could take him to get a buzz cut at Great Clips (Nanaw loves his buzz cut!) Then Mama was going to take Chase to dinner at McDonald's, his favorite place. She promised him a Happy Meal with a new Minion.

Tuesday, July 28, 2015

First thing on Tuesday, Chase watched "Despicable Me" -- his new favorite movie. He also had fun brushing TJ -- not so much fun for TJ because Chase doesn't brush gently. Chase's adventure on Tuesday was going to Tuesday Tails at the Animal Protective Association. The story was read by a lady who brought one of her dogs to visit the boys and girls. His name was Durango, and he's a four-year-old black Labrador adopted from the APA. Durango was very gentle and friendly with children. Chase had a grand time petting Durango and stood there next to him for a long time. Chase was excited to go visit the kitties and puppies. Once again, there were lots of baby black kitties, testing Nanaw's determination not to adopt another kitty for awhile. There were two puppies to visit, and Chase enjoyed that. He also enjoyed using the hand sanitizer, and said, "I'll do it by myself" -- very cute. When it was time for Chase's nap, Tee Tee was nowhere to be found. Surprisingly, Chase took his nap without Tee Tee. However, he had Pongo, the big stuffed dog in bed with him. When Chase woke up from his nap, Nanaw discovered that Chase had found a hole in Pongo's seams that Nanaw missed sewing, and Chase pulled a great deal of Pongo's stuffing out of him. Nanaw had searched and searched for Tee Tee but couldn't find him. Mama came over to help, and finally Nanaw found Tee Tee downstairs in the Thomas house. Mama and Nanaw discussed the possibility of either leaving Tee Tee at home or putting him in Chase's bed as soon as Chase gets to Nanaw's house and leaving him there, safe and sound, all day.

Chase and Nanaw spent most of Monday at home -- it was terribly hot outside, then in the afternoon, there were thunderstorms. The newscast said Columbia had three inches of rain in an hour. Chase and Nanaw ran some errands in the morning -- going to the church to pick up the CD for the website, getting gas and returning books to the library. When they got home from errands, sweet little Chase wanted to check the bird bath to make sure the birds had water to drink. The bird bath was empty so Nanaw put water in a bucket for Chase, and he carried it outside and poured it into the bird bath. Then he watched the bird bath from the front door to see if any birds came to visit -- he's such a sweet little boy. He had brought some of his toy Minions with him, and he played with them while watching "Despicable Me" -- the first Minion movie. For lunch, Mama had sent "noonles" for him, and he ate all of them - he loves his "noonles." He spent time cutting up paper with his children's scissors -- actually he mostly rips the paper with the scissors because he hasn't learned how to cut with a scissors yet.

Chase and Daddy went out to Wentzville today to visit "Grumma" -- Grandma Pat. Daddy says he took cousin Alexander to Walmart to buy football equipment, and Chase went along. They bought Chase a ball, and he and Alexander played with it when they got back to Grumma's house. Mama says Chase didn't take a nap when he and Daddy got home -- he stayed in bed for a few minutes, then got up and headed down the hall to find Mama. So when Nanaw came over for dinner, Mama told her that Chase was a little slap-happy from not napping. When Nanaw got there, Chase was outside, doing a new activity he invented. He drew on the storage box with sidewalk chalk, then sprayed his drawing with a spray bottle of water that Daddy gave him to play with -- it was very cute until Chase began spraying Nanaw. She soon went into the house to escape his spraying. Dinner was delicious beef stroganoff Mama made in the crock pot. After dinner, Nanaw treated everyone to ice cream at Dairy Queen. Chase had a strawberry sundae, Mama and Nanaw had hot fudge sundaes and Daddy had a Brownie Blast.

Saturday, July 25, 2015

On Saturday morning, Chase, Mama, Sam and Daddy came out to Aspenhof to visit Nanaw. First, they took Sam for a walk on the road by Nanaw’s A-frame. Next, they went fishing at the little lake close to Nanaw’s house. Much to Chase’s delight, Daddy caught two little fish that he threw back into the lake. Nanaw fished too but didn’t catch anything, and she had trouble with the hook on her fishing rod. Daddy gave her a new hook and a weight. After fishing, they went down to the big lake to go swimming. At first, Chase was hesitant about going into the lake, But eventually Mama and Daddy coaxed him into the water, and he had a great time. He had his arm floaties on and pretended to swim. He played with a bucket and a crab from his sandbox toys and worked on building a sand castle. Of course, Chase didn’t want to get out of the water but when he was promised M&M’s, he agreed to get out. Nanaw was sad to see them go- it had been a wonderfully fun visit. In the evening, Mama e-mailed Nanaw two photos: a photo of Chase with Oh, the McDonald’s toy from the Home movie (Oh had been lost for weeks) and a photo of a new Minion from McDonald’s.
