Wednesday was Chase's turn to bring snacks for his pre-school class. Mama bough bags of animal crackers from Sam's for Chase to take. Nanaw finally found the Above the Line / Below the Line chart in Chase's schoolroom. It's on the wall with the windows. All the children figures were above the line so maybe that's the way each day starts out. Little Alena was crying when Chase got to his room; Ms. Merz was holding her -- maybe she was missing her mama. After school, Chase and Nanaw went to Powder Valley. Chase was delighted to see that there were several little boys there for him to play with. He told them, "Hey guys, come with me. I have something to show you. I have a frog to show you." It was very cute. He told them, "My name is Chase." Then he asked, "What is your name?" He's such a social little guy. Maybe too social, sometimes. He followed the boys and their mamas around for awhile. Then Nanaw decided that they should let the little boys just be with their mamas. Chase wasn't too happy about that but Nanaw managed to calm him down. Mama called Nanaw to tell her she was taking the day off on Friday and that she'd go along with Nanaw to take Chase to school and to pick him up. Also, they're planning to go to Suson Park for an after-school adventure -- great fun!

Chase and Nanaw were planning on an adventure at Powder Valley on Tuesday but the weather was rainy so Nanaw decided to postpone Powder Valley until Wednesday. So Chase and Nanaw had a fun day at home, playing with Chase's toys and watching movies. They watched Cats and Dogs, Monsters, Inc. and Finding Nemo -- three of Chase's favorites. They also watched the DVD called Bugaboo, just like Chase. Chase managed to pull out most of the toys and books in his room and it took Nanaw quite a long while to put everything back together. While Nanaw was straightening up his room, unbeknownst to Nanaw, Chase took the Halloween gel decorations off the sliding glass doors and destroyed them -- Nanaw is not sure why he did that. Mama called to tell Nanaw that Chase has three days off from school in October and November -- Chase is not going to be happy about that because he loves school so much. In the evening, Daddy was going bowling with Uncle Will-Bill at the Columbia bowling alley, and Mama and Chase were going along to watch.

Chase was excited, as usual, to go to school. Nanaw asked him to give his family photo to Ms. Merz, and the little fellow remembered and did it well -- he's so cute. While Chase was at school, Nanaw dug up one of the little redbud trees from the front yard and planted it with Chase's redbud trees from Powder Valley because Chase's trees died. Nanaw's not going to tell him his trees died. When Nanaw picked him up from school, he seemed sad and had tears in his eyes. Nanaw asked if he was sad to leave school, and he said yes. When Nanaw asked about above the line and below the line, he said he was below the line today. Nanaw asked why, and he said, "I can't tell you," which probably means he doesn't know. Nanaw told him maybe he could tell Daddy in the evening why he was below the line. On the way from school to the little playground, Chase wanted to see the "pretty" trees -- the two trees by the school whose leaves are turning colors. Fortunately, there were several little boys and girls at the playground -- that made Chase happy. He played with one little boy named Vito and another little boy named Zane. When they left the playground, the battery light turned on on Nanaw's dashboard so she and Chase went to Dobb's in Waterloo and got a new battery. Chase was watching Finding Nemo when they got to Dobb's, and he said "You go in by yourself, and I'll stay out here and watch Nemo." Funny child!

Nanaw went to Chase's house Sunday evening to visit him and to have dinner. Mama maee delicious mostaccioli -- and she made a version with gluten-free noodles for Nanaw -- what a good daughter Mama is! Chase had noodles with cheese on them, and at one point, he gathered all the noodles together in his hand and ate them like a sandwich -- such an unusual child. After dinner, Mama, Chase and Nanaw played Chase's new game, "Ants in the Pants," on the kitchen floor. Nanaw won one of the games and was very proud of herself. Chase just mostly threw his ants into the pants. Next, they played "Go Fish," and Nanaw was impressed with how well and quickly Chase learned the game. Then Mama and Nanaw played "War," with a little assist from Chase. All in all, it was a wonderful evening of delicious food and great fun.

Nanaw went to visit Chase early Saturday morning and got to have bacon! Yay – Nanaw loves bacon. Mama fixed bacon and donuts for Uncle Mike’s breakfast. Uncle Mike said Tyler came to sleep with him downstairs for awhile, and Uncle Mike liked that. Nanaw brought Mama and Daddy a copy of Chase’s pre-school newsletter from the Internet because Chase wasn’t at school yesterday and didn’t get a copy. One of the messages said that Chase should bring a family photo to school on Monday. So Nanaw volunteered to get a photo printed at Walmart. Mama and Daddy airdropped a copy of the family (including Sam) at the Bass Pro Shop in Springfield, Mo on one of their Rockbridge trips. Mama called Nanaw on Sunday and reported that Chase was not a good boy at Aunt Becca’s birthday party on Saturday afternoon – he did his "not-listening" thing and Mama says it’s partly because he didn’t take a nap and hasn’t been sleeping well because of his cough. Mama also invited Nanaw for dinner on Sunday evening – she’s making mostaccioli and bought gluten free noodles for Nanaw.

On Friday morning, Mama called to tell Nanaw that she was going to take Chase to the doctor first thing and that he wouldn’t be going to school – so sad for the little fellow. Nanaw went along to the doctor’s appointment. Chase was really cute with the nurse, flirting with her and talking about the Nemo decorations in the exam room. The nurse knew a lot of the names of the movie characters, and Nanaw looked up the other names on her iPad. At first, Chase was a little shy with Doctor Abby but then he was his usual flirtatious self. He has an ear infection and is taking amoxicillin. When Chase and Nanaw got home, Uncle Mike was there to fix the storm door. Chase was so excited to see Uncle Mike, and Chase immediately got his tools to help Uncle Mike fix the door. Chase took Uncle Mike to his room to play and then downstairs to play with the trains and the Army guys. Uncle Mike went over to Chase’s house to spend the day with Mama – it was their usual yearly day together. Chase and Nanaw stayed home and played in his room and downstairs. Nanaw went to Chase’s house for dinner, delicious roast beef in the crock pot and Mama’s famous party potatoes. Once again, Chase played with Uncle Mike, who spent the night.

At first, Nanaw thought Chase wouldn't be able to have his adventure at the Train House today. He's had a bad cough, and it seemed like he didn't feel well at all in the morning. But after an hour or so, he seemed to feel better and so he and Nanaw went to the Train House. Miss Linda was glad to see them and spent time playing with Chase and doing crafts with him; they made a spectacular flower truck. He played in the kitchen, having a picnic with Nanaw. Then he and Nanaw built a long train out of the new trains in the Train House. Chase was delighted with the new trains -- there were about 30 of them, and he lined them up along the track -- very cute. Nanaw could tell that Chase still didn't feel 100% because he only ate part of his popcorn -- usually he wolfs it down immediately. On the way home, they stopped at the Post Office, and Chase mailed four letters for Nanaw -- there are three mail slot areas in the Post Office and Chase used all three of them -- it was very cute. When Nanaw took Chase home, Daddy wanted to give him cough medicine and Tylenol. chase fussed about the cough medicine but finally let Daddy give it to him. Then Daddy put the Tylenol in the medicine syringe, and Chase said, "I'll do it myself" and proceeded to shoot the Tylenol into his mouth -- very funny.
