Mama and Chase played with a cool toy that Chase has It’s two disks with straps. One person throws a sticky ball toward the other person’s disk and that person tries to get it to stick to their disk. At the hospital,  the hospital chaplain came in to visit me, and it turned out that he knew about Unity, which is  Nanaw's religion. He's a Catholic layperson who’s been a chaplain for almost 30 years. He knew about Unity Village, Silent Unity and Daily Word. He’d attended a wedding at the Skinker church, and Nanaw told him that was where she was married.  Mama came to pick up Nanaw at the hospital at 1 p.m. and took her to Waterloo Schnuck’s and then to Walgreen’s. Unfortunately, Walgreen’s was closed for the Memorial Day holiday so Nanaw will have to pick up her steroid prescription tomorrow morning. Nanaw came over to Chase’s house for a delicious dinner of ribs and bbq beans. After dinner, Chase did several pages in his the study book Mama bought for him. After he was done with the workbook, Chase and Nanaw played with the disks. Then Mama and Chase cleaned up the back yard. Next, they went into the house and had dessert. Mama and Nanaw bought a frozen turtle cream pie at Schnuck’s. Chase played several kinds of ball with Daddy on the living room floor, and Nanaw watched. Mama came and sat down on the couch, and they all talked to Chase.

On Sunday, Chase and Daddy went to church. After that, Chase worked on his math basics workbook with Mama. That’s the same one that Nanaw has and Chase was concerned that they’d be ahead of Mama’s book. So Nanaw had the skip a day so Mama would be ahead. Nanaw was still in the hospital so she didn’t get to see Chase. But Mama sent a picture of Chase and Tee Tee to Nanaw, and she sent Nanaw a picture of Chase standing in his swimming pool. Nanaw sent Mama and Uncle Mike a picture of her flatbread pizza that she had for lunch on Sunday. It was delicious and took her a long time to eat. Nanaw was enjoying her time in the hospital. She thought it was sort like a vacation; all she had to do was read and eat. And all the people were so nice. In the afternoon, Mama, Daddy and Chase went over to Aunt Becca’s house for grilling. Mama said Chase took along baseball bats and balls to Aunt Becca's. First, Daddy played baseball with Chase, and then Mama played baseball with him.

Chase came over to Nanaw’s house on Saturday morning while Mama went to the grocery store. First, he played with the balloons and then blew up more balloons and had Nanaw tie them off. Next, Chase and Nanaw played with the kinetic sand. Chase really loves playing with it, and Nanaw likes it too. Unfortunately, Nanaw started feeling bad from the shortness of breath. She decided she’d better go to the ER and packed up her things. When Mama got to Nanaw’s house, Nanaw asked Mama to take her to the ER. Mama called Daddy and he said he’d pick Chase up from Nanaw’s house. At the ER, Nanaw had to wait about two hours before anyone did anything. But then everything worked out all right.

Chase and Nanaw had a fun day. For a long while after Chase got to Nanaw's house on Friday morning, he played with the little water balloons they bought at Lemay Ferry Dollar Tree. Chase would blow up the balloons and have Nanaw tie them off. On two of the balloons, Chase drew smiley faces -- very cute. At one point, Chase put his pajama top over his head and Nanaw said he looked like the meerkats from the children's zoo. So Nanaw took a picture of Chase and sent it to Mama, telling her it was her little meerkat. School was good; Chase did wonderfully well on everything except that Nanaw forgot to have Chase do his 20 minutes of reading. Nanaw got out the rocks she and Chase painted from the rock painting kit Chase got for Christmas. Chase said one of the rocks was Tee Tee's pet rock, and Chase took it home with him. Nanaw made an appointment for a CT test at St. Clare for 4 p.m. so sadly she had to take Chase home early. But she'll see him tomorrow morning. Yay!!

Chase played outside on Thursday morning. He asked Nanaw to set up his strike zone. So Nanaw moved her car into the street and set up the strike zone so that Chase was throwing into the garage. The next door neighbor came over and said what a good job Chase was doing. And a lady walking her dog told Chase the strike zone was a good idea. Today was cleaning lady day so Nanaw went around the house putting everything away while Chase played on the computer. He discovered an online baseball game and had great fun playing it, making lots of noise. Chase and Nanaw went downstairs for school when the cleaning lady came. Chase did very well at school; he's a smart little boy. He thinks about what he's doing and understands the problems and questions. It started to rain really hard. Nanaw had put the pet taxi on the deck, and it got really. Mama texted that Chase's baseball game tonight got cancelled.

Chase and Nanaw had another wonderful summer adventure day. The tree man was back to finish up the tree work. Chase wanted to eat breakfast inside again so Nanaw set him up with a TV table in front of the TV to watch Chase TV. After breakfast, Chase and Nanaw took Taylor to the vet. Then they went to Walgreen's so Nanaw could ask the pharmacist to show her how to use the inhaler. Next they went to the bank to check on Nanaw's check order and then to pick up Taylor from the vet. Mama sent over spaghetti and croissants for Chase's lunch; he ate the croissants ahead of time as his snack on the morning errands. Chase really liked the spaghetti and ate every bite. His snacks during the day included strawberries, apple slices, cheese sticks, cheese cubes and Skinny Pop popcorn. Chase did a page in each of his math workbooks and eight pages in the 3rd grade review book. After the workbooks, Chase and Nanaw spent 20 minutes reading silently to themselves. Chase is reading Woof and Nanaw is reading Genesis by Robin Cook. Chase has baseball practice tonight, and Nanaw had to have Chase home by five.

Chase and Nanaw had another good day together, according to Chase. He didn't want to eat breakfast on the deck so Nanaw put up a TV table in front of the TV; Chase watched Chase TV while he ate. Chase played on the tablet in the morning before school. For school, Chase did 8 pages in the book Mama bought for him at Costco; he also did a page in the Math Basics and a page in the Fractions book. He did very well and seemed to enjoy some of it, like Maps. For lunch, Chase had his chicken nuggets TV dinner, with corn, Mac and cheese, and a brownie. He also had cooked carrots, broccoli and cauliflower. In the afternoon, Chase had a grand time playing with the water in the front yard with Nanaw watching. Nanaw took Chase home at 4:45 so he could get ready for his baseball game. Nanaw went along to the game and had fun watching Chase play. Chase's team won 13 to 10.

Today was the first day of Chase and Nanaw's summer adventure, and it went perfectly! They ate breakfast on the top deck, with candles and a lantern. Chase had Cocoa Krispie’s, a cheese stick, strawberries and chocolate milk. It was grand fun on the deck. A little later, they went to Dollar Tree. They bought a blue baseball bat and a ball, some soft swimming pool balls, a snorkel kit, balloons, red juice and flying toys. After Dollar Tree, Chase and Nanaw had school. Chase did eight pages in his three workbooks. Later in the day, he did his 20 minutes of reading. Nanaw suggested he read to himself and that seemed to work okay. Throughout the day, Chase played the recorder, played on the computer and also on Nanaw’s tablet and his tablet. Nanaw wanted to have lunch on the lower deck but Chase didn’t want to so maybe tomorrow. Uncle Mike came to cut the grass. He also put up Nanaw’s swing on the lower deck and the rest of the solar lights in the upper deck. The third  picture is of Nanaw’s swing, and the fourth, fifth and sixth pictures are the new solar lights on the upper deck.

On Sunday afternoon, Chase had baseball practice from 3 to 4:30. Mama invited Nanaw over for burgers and corn at 6. Nanaw got there about 5:30. She was greeted by the dogs. Sylvester came out into the street to see Nanaw. Sam, the good dog, didn’t go in the street. But he escaped too. The gate was open and Nanaw took them to the back yard. Mama didn’t know they had escaped. Aunt Becca and Uncle Stan were there. Uncle Stan helped Daddy carry Mama’s old dresser out to the curb for big item pickup. Chase was playing in the yucky water-filled sandbox. Nanaw told Chase it was obnoxious Chase said Nanaw should walk away so she didn’t get too freaked out. Dinner was good, and for dessert Mama had bought yummy brownies from Schnuck’s. Tomorrow starts Chase's summer break or summer vacation as Nanaw calls it. Mama is bringing Chase over to Nanaw's house at 7 a.m., which means Nanaw needs to go to bed at a decent time.

Mama brought Chase over to Nanaw's house while she went to the grocery store. Chase and Nanaw had fun playing with the recorder and the piano. Nanaw discovered that Chase has good pitch. Nanaw would play a note on the piano and Chase would do it on the recorder and he could always tell when he got the note wrong. They also played with the Cars cars and with the stuffed animals. Chase played on the computer for awhile, and Nanaw gave him a snack. When Mama came back, she had lots of groceries for Chase for next week -- Cocoa Krispies and Milk, two big bas of Skinny Pop, potato chips, TV dinners, Toasted Ravioli and Mozzarella sticks. She told Nanaw she spent $50 more than usual because of all of Chase's food. Uncle Mike went out to the little house to be with the Dish guy. Everything is good with the satellite now. In the evening, Mama sent Nanaw a text saying that Chase said, "I can't wait until Monday." Mama asked him why, and he said "It's the first day I get to spend with Nanaw." That was so sweet. I told Mama we were going to Lemay Ferry Dollar Tree to buy a kazoo and red juice and blue juice for Chase. And they would also watch one of the Curious George movies and eat Skinny Pop popcorn. And of course, they would do school, and Chase would play on the computer.

On Friday morning, Mama sent Nanaw the first picture below of Chase ready for his last day of school. He was wearing his fish mask (Mama said it's his favorite and it's one of the masks Nanaw made for him.) Nanaw told Mama how she finally felt sad about the last day of school and would tell Chase that because of him saying yesterday that it was weird that Nanaw didn't feel sad about it. Mama said she took Chase to school today for his last day of school instead of Daddy. Chase kept changing his mind about who would take him to school and finally settled on Mama. After school, there was a huge celebration for the retiring principal of the school. They played the song Celebration, and he made a speech . The Columbia Fire Department was there. They brought the bucket truck and hung an American flag from the bucket. The students all blew bubbles. The principal gave all the kids Dum Dum suckers. Chase brought a lot of stuff home with him from his desk; he also brought home some of his books. On the way home, Chase and Nanaw went to the bank, the cemetery, the gas station and the library. When they got back home, Chase played the recorder for awhile and then played on the computer, tablet, and phone. Chase went to school again today, even though he was still a little congested. The first picture below is one that Mama sent to Nanaw of the onesie Chase decorated for Ms. Kennedy's soon-to-be-born baby girl. Chase said they had snacks at the shower; he had popcorn and a chocolate cupcake. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he wanted to go to the park. At Chase’s house to pick up the guys, Mama and Daddy said they felt a little better from the colds they think they got from Chase. Chase and Nanaw went to the little park but Brady wasn’t there so they went home. As they were getting out of the car, Nanaw told Chase she was really excited about the fractions and math books she ordered arriving on Friday. So Chase said he was too. But his tone of voice and the look on his face sent a different message. Nanaw asked Chase if he was being sarcastic. And he said, yes, can’t you tell by the look on my face and my voice that I’m being sarcastic LOL. At Nanaw’s house, they played balloon baseball in the living room. Then Chase played with the balloon by himself while Nanaw fixed his snack. Then Chase played on the computer for awhile. He also played the recorder. Nanaw asked about the clarinet. Chase said he signed up for it all by himself. His second choice was flute. Nanaw was so proud. Uncle Mike came to cut the grass but not the front because he wants the grass seed to take hold.

Chase went to school today. Mama didn’t want him to miss Ms. Kennedy’s surprise baby shower. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, she looked through the lost and found things in front of the school for his gray and white glove but it wasn’t there. Chase wanted to go to the park or have Will come play with him but Nanaw said that wouldn’t be good because Chase still had a cold. When they went to Chase's house to pick up the guys, he told Mama and Daddy that he got an A+ on his social studies test. He didn't know what he got on his math test. At Nanaw’s house, Chase had his snack— cheese cubes, apple slices and milk. Then he had two little juice boxes. Then he threw up. So Nanaw is going to be careful not to give him too much to eat and drink. He played on the computer for awhile and then it was time to go home because he had baseball practice. But Mama and Daddy decided he shouldn’t go to baseball practice because he threw up. Mama wasn’t feeling well either. She was tired and had an upset stomach. But she said all she needed was a good night's sleep, and she'd feel fine. Mama sent the last picture of Chase to Nanaw, from when he was a baby in 2012. Nanaw recognized his Puppy Love with him.
