Monday, March 16, 2026

After school on Monday, Chase had his Bunny Tracks ice cream, which he loves. Nanaw asked him if she should get more at the grocery store, and he said yes. He worked on his lesson 25 vocabulary packet, which is due Wednesday. When he finished, Nanaw looked it over, and he had done a perfect job. He has a special Washington DC trip project due Friday. The students have to pick a monument in Washington and make a poster about it. Chase selected George Washington’s home Mount Vernon on the Potomac River. Nanaw is going forward to seeing it. The school is providing poster board so Mama is happy she doesn’t have to worry about getting it. Nanaw thinks Chase is excited about the Washington trip. He told Nanaw he couldn’t believe he was really going to DC next week. It's so great that he's looking forward to the trip. Before he went home, Chase played pencil hockey in his room and watched his hockey TV channel. Today was Chase’s weighing and measuring day. He weighs 110.5 pounds and is 5 ft 5 inches tall. He's grown two inches and gained almost five pounds since last September. Yay for Chase! Nanaw forgot to take a picture of Chase so she asked him to send a selfie and he did!

Sunday, March 15, 2026

Chase and Daddy went to 5 o’clock Mass on Saturday evening because of Chase’s sleepover. Mama said Chase and Tucker had a great time at their sleepover last night. Unfortunately Chase had an earache and went to bed at 12:30. Mama gave him ear drops and Tylenol so he was feeling better  Tucker stayed up till 3 a.m. Mama got donuts for their breakfast. In the afternoon, Nanaw texted Mama and Chase that she was working on The Hobbit chapter 8 worksheet and the vocabulary lesson 25. Nanaw asked Mama to see if Chase was working on them, too. Chase said vocab wasn’t due til Wednesday and he’d work on it tomorrow. He said they weren’t done with chapter 8 yet and he’d do the worksheet when they were done. All day, Columbia had a severe wind warning. Then at around 5 o’clock it started to pour down rain. Then there were tornado warnings and sirens. Mama, Daddy and Chase went downstairs. After the warnings were over, Chase and Mama worked together to fix dinner. They prepared one pot spaghetti with meatballs. That led Mama to find a song from her childhood — On Top of Spaghetti. Part of the lyrics said: “I lost my meatball “ Chase and Nanaw think Mama is funny.

Saturday, March 14, 2026

Mama texted Nanaw that she thinks Chase had a great time at Top Golf with Brady and other members of the crew last night. She also said that Chase and Tucker saw each other at their workout this morning and discovered that neither of them had anything to do tonight. So Chase asked Mama if they could have a sleepover, and she said yes. Of course, Chase was very excited about that. Tonight Mama was going to dinner with two friends who are in town from Oklahoma and who used to work with her, plus some other former work friends. They were going to Failoni's, an Italian restaurant on Manchester. Nanaw said Mama would of course have pizza, and Mama said yes, unless something else caught her eye. Mama sent Nanaw a picture of Chase playing knee hockey and a picture of Sly. In the afternoon, Nanaw was out running errands, and she stopped off at Chase's house to give Mama the Nancy Drew mystery The Secret of the Old Clock from ThriftBooks that arrived today. She also took along the Wimpy Kid books she bought for Chase. He kept one of them to start reading for AR. Nanaw was happy to see Chase when she dropped by with books. He was playing the keyboard downstairs, and Nanaw stayed with him for a little while to listen. Nanaw asked him about the No Brainer books -- the one from the County Library and the one she bought for Chase. She couldn’t find either of them but Chase said he didn't have them, and they looked in his backpack and on the kitchen table but didn't find them. Nanaw went to the library and asked her friends there if it was possible she'd turned the book in but that the system hadn't checked it in. But that wasn't the case so Nanaw said she'd keep looking. Her two friends are retired teachers who work part-time at the library, and they told her how wonderful the Wimpy Kids books are and that teachers say they accurately represent how crazy and mixed-up schools are and that Nanaw should read them. Chase likes them and that's a good thing. At home Nanaw thought of two places she hadn't looked in for the two missing No Brainer books, and she found both of them -- Yay! The one she bought for Chase was in the little bookcase next to her computer in the dining room The library book was in a stack of newspapers, magazines and books in the living room where Nanaw keeps the things she's going to read or is going to return to the library. So all is well, and Nanaw apologized to Mama and Chase for making them search. She'll also apologize to her library friends the next time she sees them.

Friday, March 13, 2026

Chase had two quizzes on Friday: one in geography on the Persian Gulf and one in English on the DLR. When Nanaw picked him up from school, he said he thought he did well on both of them. The Friday afternoon rule is that even if Chase has homework he doesn’t have to do it until sometime over the weekend. So at first, Chase played on his phone in his room. Then he turned on the hockey channel on TV and played pencil hockey. Nanaw brought in The Hobbit and sat in Chase’s room reading chapter 8. Chase had an activity-free weekend to look forward to — no hockey, no baseball and no workouts - and hardly any homework. At five, Chase had an adventure for Friday evening. Brady was having his birthday celebration with his crew of friends. They were going to Top Golf, one of Chase’s favorites. Chase decided he wanted to take his golf clubs. So when he got home from Nanaw's, he and Daddy went outside to look at them and decide if he was going to take them. Nanaw hoped he had a great time with his friends.

Monday, March 9, Tuesday, March 10, Wednesday, March 11, and Thursday, March 12, 2026

On Monday, Nanaw ordered three more Wimpy Kid books for Chase from ThriftBooks for him to read for his AR requirements. Nanaw also ordered the Nancy Drew Mystery, The Secret of the Old Clock, for Mama, who requested it. For homework, Chase had the Hobbit Chapter 7 worksheet to do, plus an infinitives worksheet in English. His vocabulary test is Wednesday, and he has a history test on the 1920s on Thursday. Nanaw printed out information on No Brainer, one of the Wimpy books, for Chase to study. It was 18 pages of notes about the book, and Nanaw wasn't sure if Chase would have enough patience to read the whole thing. He wants to take the AR test on the book tomorrow. He's trying to get as close as possible to his goal for AR points. On Tuesday, Chase took the AR test on No Brainer and got three points, bringing him a little closer to his goal. He thinks his goal is 16 points. He has a North Africa geography quiz tomorrow and a verbal worksheet in English for homework. Nanaw had a doctor's appointment on Tuesday morning for the lump at the base of her right thumb. They took an X-ray and said it was a subchondral cyst, and Nanaw has to go see a hand specialist (who knew that such a doctor existed!). Nanaw made an appointment for March 23, and they asked her to get a copy of the X-ray. Chase and Nanaw studied for Wednesday's vocabulary test, and Chase seems to really know the words well. On Wednesday, Nanaw went to St. Clare hospital in the cold, rainy weather and picked up a copy of her hand X-ray. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he thought he did well on the vocabulary test. They studied for Thursday's history test on the 1920s using a cool online study guide called Kahoots that asks the multiple choice questions that might be on the test and gives the user four answers to choose from. Chase zipped through the questions several times, getting the answers right. On Thursday, Uncle Mike came over to take things to Goodwill and to work on installing an electrical outlet for the sump pump that's going to be installed in Nanaw's basement. After Goodwill, Uncle Mike said let's go to lunch so they went to Taco Bell. Uncle Mike wanted to pay but Nanaw got her credit card faster than he got out his debit card. So Nanaw said next time he could pay. After school, Chase told Nanaw he thought he did really well on the history test. He studied for Friday's DLR quiz, the Persian Gulf/Levant geography quiz and finished his English worksheet on phrases and clauses. Chase was very excited because he had a completely free evening tonight: no hockey, no baseball, no workout, and no homework -- just playing on his phone and other devices.

Saturday, March 7 and Sunday, March 8, 2026

On Saturday, Chase had one of his last hockey tournaments with the Affton team. He'll have the very last one in a couple of weeks. Then he'll move on to the Columbia team but no one knows when that will start. Mama texted Nanaw that they lost Friday night's game in Wentzville 3-2. She said the game started badly but then the boys played better. Nanaw texted Mama that a semi-miracle had occurred because Chase actually likes reading the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books. There are about 20 of them so that's enough to get him through the rest of the year's Accelerated Reading (AR) requirements. He really hasn't liked reading books for AR so it's great that he's found books he likes to read. Chase's team lost the first Saturday game 5 to 2. They were going to meet some of the guys for dinner before the second game. They lost the second Saturday game 5 to 1. On Sunday, Chase set up the guys on the kitchen table in front of a bowl of strawberries and bananas -- very cute!! The pictures from seven years ago of Mama, Chase and Sylvester are appearing because they came up on Mama's Facebook page.  Mama got Sylvester from the APA on Nanaw's birthday seven years ago. Chase's team won the Sunday game 6 to 4. In the afternoon, the team had a celebration party at Affton. It was Nanaw's birthday, so in the evening Mama, Daddy, Chase, Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky and Nanaw met at Gianino's on Telegraph. Unfortunately, they had to wait for 45 minutes to get a table. But the food was delicious and perhaps almost worth the wait. Chase had spaghetti and meatballs and had lots leftover to take home. Nanaw got a mystery DVD set, a balsam cedar candle and an Amazon gift card from Mama, Daddy and Chase. From Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky, she got a clever gumball machine that they made themselves, filled with large gumballs, and an Amazon gift card. They had Bunny Tracks ice cream, vanilla ice cream, and cheesecake for Nanaw's birthday celebration.

Friday, March 6, 2026

On Friday morning, Chase and Nanaw studied for his religion test. He seemed to know the material but it's hard to know what the teacher will put on the test. When Nanaw asked Chase after school how he did, he said he thought he got a 100 -- which would be wonderful. But as long as he did his best, that's all that matters. Mama took Nanaw to Joe Boccardi's for her birthday lunch. Mama had cheese pizza, and Nanaw had Caesar salad. When Mama brought Nanaw home, she came in to see the mess in the basement and to get something to put Nanaw's birthday present in. Nanaw told Mama that she had huge amounts of wrapping paper and gift bags downstairs, and Mama should come get some whenever she needs some. Mama and Nanaw went to pick up Chase after school, and as always, he was one of the last students out of the building. He and his friends gather together after school around Chase's desk and visit for a few minutes, which is really cute. Mama and Chase came into Nanaw's house to get Chase's stuff but they couldn't stay to visit. Chase has a hockey game out in Wentzville, and they have to leave at four to get there on time. So Nanaw didn't get much time with Chase.

Thursday, March 5, 2026

On the way to school on Thursday morning, Chase announced to Nanaw that he may have forgotten about a Hobbit test in Reading for that day. He said he had a study sheet and he'd study it during the day before the test. Nanaw thought the test was next week but she got that wrong. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school on Thursday, he told her that he had taken care of his missing math assignments. His grade went from a 90 to a 96. Chase was very happy about that . He said most of the class had missing assignments from when they were out sick. But his history grade went down to a 90 based on a test last Friday where he got a C. Nanaw didn't know anything about a history test, and they certainly didn't study for it. Nanaw is going to go look at a copied version of Homework Central and see if it says anything about a history test on February 27. Chase figured out a neat way to look at back versions of Homework Central. You make a copy of the spreadsheet and you're able to look at previous weeks. Nanaw didn't find any mention of a history test on Homework Central but Facts says Chase got an 86 our of 100 on a WWI test on February 27. -- what a mystery. Nanaw is going to stop mentioning Chase's grades to Mama. After school, Chase did his English assignment and then they studied for Friday's religion test. He said he has a big history assignment but he's going to use one of his homework passes for it because he doesn't have time to do it. Evidently, with a homework pass you don't have to do the assignment and you get a 100%. Cool deal if it really works that way.

Tuesday, March 3 and Wednesday, March 4, 2026

On Tuesday, Nanaw offered Chase the new kind of protein bars Mama bought for his breakfast but he didn't want to try them yet -- he wanted his regular ones. Nanaw reminded Chase that his chapter 6 Hobbit worksheet was due on Tuesday and that he should bring home his science study material for the science terms quiz on Wednesday. After school, Chase had his healthy snack of the Premier protein drink, grapes and strawberries, cashews and pumpkin and sunflower seeds. He requested Blue Bunny vanilla ice cream and root beer after his healthy snack. For homework, in addition to studying for the science quiz,  he had an English worksheet and for history he had to work on an Iran slideshow. The teacher had switched from the regular history assignment to an Iran assignment because of the military attacks going on there. Chase and Nanaw went into his room and went over the list of disease-related terms several times. On Wednesday morning, they went over the terms again twice, and Chase seemed to know them. When Nanaw picked him up, he said he thought he only missed two of them but when they checked Facts they saw that he got 28 out of 28 so he didn't miss any. So that was super. But he ended up with math troubles. His grade has gone down to a 90 from a 98 because he missed several assignments from when he was sick. He said he didn't receive the assignments and the teacher said it was his responsibility to find them out for himself. He had big red missing announcements on Facts. This is a real shame because he had been doing an excellent job in math before this happened.

Saturday, February 28, Sunday March 1, and Monday, March 2, 2026

Chase had an exciting adventure on Saturday. His friend Tucker invited him for a sleepover. Chase met Tucker years ago when they played baseball together in Columbia. They met up again, and Tucker spent last Halloween with Chase and the crew trick or treating and having a sleepover. On Saturday, Chase went to Tucker's house around 3 p.m. in the afternoon and stayed till Sunday around noon when Mama picked him up. Chase and Tucker had pizza for dinner and played a lot of computer games together. They stayed up till 4:30 a.m. or 5 a.m. so they didn't get much sleep but had a lot of fun. Saturday was the night of the dinner auction, and Chase usually stays at Nanaw's house while Mama and Daddy go to the dinner auction. Nanaw was fine with Tucker's invitation to Chase because she knew how much fun he'd have. Chase was supposed to have another sleepover with the crew at Cole's house on Sunday but that didn't work out. So Mama said Chase could have a sleepover at Nanaw's, which made Nanaw extremely happy. Mama brought Chase and all his guys over to Nanaw's house about 4:30 on Sunday evening. Chase wanted Sonic for dinner so Nanaw went to get it and discovered that Sonic's electricity was out so she came back home to see what Chase wanted for dinner. They settled on Domino's pizza and stuffed cheesy bread, and Nanaw went to pick it up, which was an adventure for her because she'd never done that before. Chase loved the pizza and cheesy bread and said it was the best he'd ever had. They watched TV in the living room and in Chase's room and didn't go to bed until midnight. In the middle of the evening, Chase had a snack of pizza and cheesy bread that Nanaw heated up in the toaster oven. Chase slept till 8:30 on Monday morning, very late for him. During the day, they had two sessions for homework and AR reading, one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon. Chase did lots of AR reading and did his vocabulary packet and the chapter 6 Hobbit worksheet. Nanaw was very proud of him and how well he did. For lunch, Chase did a very innovative thing he'd heard about on YouTube. He put a glass of water in the microwave with the pizza and cheesy bread to heat them up and make it like they were fresh again, and it worked! Nanaw needs to remember to tell Mama about it. He told Nanaw what a great sleepover it had been, which made Nanaw very happy.

Friday, February 27, 2026

On Friday morning, Chase and Nanaw did more studying for his Friday science test. Once again they studied the terms and the study review pages in the textbook. They also went through the packet on chapter 4 and found some things they hadn’t studied. Chase was in a good mood about all the studying they’d done and said he felt ready for the test. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he thought he'd done well on the geography test and the science test. She told him about a science quiz next Wednesday. On his own, Chase volunteered to go back into school for his science textbook. But when he tried to go back in the school, he discovered they had already closed the door and he couldn’t get back in. At Nanaw’s house, Chase helped Nanaw clear away a bunch of boxes in the basement. In the evening, Mama, Daddy and Chase went to watch an Affton hockey game.

Thursday, February 26, 2026

Wednesday, February 25, and Thursday, February 26, 2026

On Wednesday, Nanaw and Uncle Mike went out to check on the little house. They took the long way around Aspenhof so Uncle Mike could see the houses on the other side. They got back home at 2:15 in plenty of time for Nanaw to pick Chase up from school. On the way home, Chase told Nanaw they could study the material for tomorrow’s confirmation test when they got home. They went over the things Chase was supposed to memorize. He did fairly well with them, and said he’d go over them again tonight after his workout and hitting practice. Nanaw will have him run through them tomorrow morning before school. Mama was going to have dinner tonight with Aunt Becca at Mariachi, a. Mexican restaurant in Millstadt. On Thursday morning, Chase and Nanaw studied for Thursday's confirmation test, and he seemed to know the material. When Nanaw picked him up from school, he said he thought he got an 87 on the test. They had hoped for a higher grade to bring up his current C in his religion class. At Nanaw's house, Chase studied for  Friday's science test and geography test. Hopefully he'll do well on the tests. He has a C in science and would like to bring that grade up. After he finished studying, Chase and Nanaw went into his room, and Chase played pencil hockey. Nanaw went over the science terms definitions with Chase, and he seemed to know them but he says that sometimes things just go out of his head.

Tuesday, February 24, 2026

Tuesday, February 24, 2026

On Tuesday morning, Nanaw gave Chase the notes she'd found for his AR book, Diper Overlode. While he studied them, she found the flashcards for the book on Quizlet and had him go over some of them on the computer in the computer lab. When she picked him up from school, she had him go through all 24 of them on her iPad. So now he should be ready to take the AR test when he wants to. Nanaw was over at Chase's house while the cleaning lady was at her house, and she looked at Chase's books and saw that he has at least three more Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, which might get him through AR books for the rest of the year -- as long as he hasn't already read them for AR. His friend Tuck asked him to come for a sleepover on Saturday night, while Mama and Daddy are at the Dinner Auction. Chase had planned to spend the night. at Nanaw's but wanted to go  to Tuck's instead. Nanaw was okay with that because she knew how much fun he'd have with Tuck. Mama said Chase could stay at Nanaw's another time. He's going to have a sleepover at Cole's on Sunday night because Monday is a school holiday. At four, Nanaw took Chase to his ortho appointment. Evidently, one of is teeth isn't coming in correctly so for the next appointment, Mama or Daddy will have to take him so the orthodontist can talk to them.

Saturday, February 21, Sunday, February 22, and Monday, February 23, 2026

Mama sent the first picture to Nanaw of all the boys on Chase's hockey team. They're wearing tee shirts one of the hockey moms mad for them, showing Coach Dave with his hands on his head. This is something he does a lot. Everybody loves Coach Dave, and Chase and Mama are going to miss him a lot. Coach Dave and Mama went to high school together. The fourth pictures shows the work Nanaw's next-door neighbor did on Saturday, clearing out the brush in back of his house, to make a back play yard for his four kids. Chase had a hockey game in the Blue Note tournament on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The team won, 4 to 2, which meant they got to play in a championship game on Sunday. They lost their game on Sunday, which meant they were out of the tournament. Chase is almost done with Affton hockey. He's going to play on the Columbia, IL hockey team when the season starts later this year. He's sad about Affton being over but looking forward to a new team and new teammates. Nanaw went over to Chase's house for dinner on Sunday evening. Mama made crunchy tacos supreme (that means with sour cream), and she and Chase made his package of Fiesta Rice from his class's special project last week. The students gathered in the Garden Room downstairs in the church and put together thousands of packets of a rice dinner called Fiesta Rice. They each got to take home one packet. The other packets were going to be sent to Guatemala as part of a project called Kids Against Hunger. (Nanaw kept mistakenly calling it Kids For Hunger and kept getting in trouble with Chase for doing that!!) On Monday after school, Chase and Nanaw worked in his room on his vocabulary packet. He never did find his original packet (the one he accused Nanaw of losing!), and he had to ask the teacher for another copy -- which must have been hard for him to do because he doesn't much like to talk to his teachers. He also brought home the worksheet for chapter 6 of The Hobbit so that Nanaw could make a copy for herself. He finished reading his AR book entitled Diper Overlode and will probably take the test sometime this week. Nanaw will look for some study material for him. He's has another Diary of a Wimpy Kid book at his house that he's going to read for his next AR book. This one is entitled No Brainer, and Nanaw will check it out of the county library in case she wants to see what he's reading.

Friday, February 20, 2026

Tuesday, February 17, Wednesday, February 18, Thursday, February 19, and February 20, 2026

Chase had a rough week, trying to get caught up with schoolwork and homework from being out three days last week. He worked hard to do all the assignments but unfortunately some of them were late and some of them he forget to turn in. So his grades are suffering a bit. He still has five As or A-s but he has three Cs, and he doesn't like that. The Cs are in Religion, Science and Geography. Geography was a surprise because he usually has As in that subject. But evidently he forgot to turn in one of the assignments and another one was late. But he says he'll work hard and get his grades back to where he wants them to be. On Tuesday night, Chase had a sleepover at Nanaw's house because Daddy was taking Mama to a procedure at St. Clare hospital very early on Wednesday morning. Chase had a workout before he came to Nanaw's. Nanaw had gone to Sonic to get pretzel twists, onion rings and a Sonic Blast with M&Ms for his dinner -- he ate every bite. On Wednesday, Nanaw went to pick up Mama from St. Clare, and then brought her Taco Bell for lunch. Chase didn't eat very much while he was sick, and he still doesn't have his appetite back so Nanaw is going to wait until the end of February to weigh and measure him rather than doing it at the regular time in the middle of February. On Thursday, Chase was excited when he got out of school and didn't have any homework. Nanaw gave him lots of fruit for his snack (that's one of his Lent things). He played pencil hockey in his room and watched the Olympics -- women's skating was an activity he watched and one of the skaters was the first US woman to win a gold medal since 2002, and Chase was excited about that. Two mysteries of missing things happened on Friday. The first one was that he lost the charging cord for his Chromebook so Mama was going to order a new one. The second one is that he can't find the Chapter 22 vocab packet. He told Nanaw it was in his agenda so she was going to make a copy of it but it wasn't there. Chase said she must have lost it because he put it there. Nanaw said she never saw it so now that's the mystery and also Chase has to figure out how to get another copy so he can do the assignment. His hockey team has a game on Friday night in the Blue Note tournament. Mama and Chase were both watching the US hockey team play in the Olympics and were very excited about it.

Monday, February 16, 2026

Today was President's Day so Chase was off from school and Mama and Daddy were off from work. Nanaw had a doctor’s appointment this morning and told Mama she’d be over in the afternoon to study with Chase. Mama said they were going to lunch at Pawz. That’s the place that used to be Dusty Dogs that Nanaw went to with Brady and Andrew’s grandmas. Nanaw went over to Chase’s house a little after two. First, Chase studied the English slide show for the test tomorrow on three parts of speech: adjectives, adverbs and conjunctions. Next, they went over about 15 worksheets about the same things. Nanaw had Chase read the information about those parts of speech out loud. A couple of the worksheets were missing, and Nanaw said she would go through the stack of Chase’s papers that she has for the missing worksheets but she couldn't find them. Next, Chase did the worksheet for Chapter 5 of The Hobbit. He will turn it in tomorrow. He has a stack of things to turn in that should have been turned in last week. He promised to turn in everything. The last thing he studied was capitals of Asian countries for a geography test tomorrow. After they were finished studying, Nanaw watched Chase play pencil hockey in his room for a while. Then she drove to the new little park by Chase’s house and did some walking around and investigating the little lake.

Sunday, February 15, 2026

Saturday, February 14 and Sunday, February 15, 2026

On Saturday, Chase was feeling better so he was able to go to his workout session. In the afternoon, Nanaw came over to study with  him. They worked on his vocabulary packet, which is due on Tuesday. He did very well with it, and Nanaw was happy about that. He also studied a slide show for his English test on Tuesday. The test is over adjectives, adverbs, and conjunctions. After Chase finished going through the slide show, Nanaw went through it. The content is difficult, and Nanaw will have Chase go through it again on Monday, when she studies with him. They didn't work on the hobbit worksheet for chapter 5; they'll work on that on Monday. Mama and Chase gave Nanaw a two-toed sloth named Hoffman for Valentine's Day. He's a sloth at the Zoo, and Nanaw is now supporting him. Nanaw stayed for dinner for Valentine's Day, and she had Caesar salad from Imo's. Mama and Daddy had sausage and bacon pizza from Imo's, and Chase had provel cheese bites and cheese garlic bread because he doesn't like Imo's thin crust pizza. Nanaw gave Mama and Daddy Ferraro Rocher candy and Twizzlers Bites for Valentine's Day, and she gave Chase $20 worth of Roblox Robux. On Sunday, Chase and Daddy went to church, and then they all had an adventure. They went out to Silex so Chase could visit with his cousin Elias, which made Chase very happy. He'd been disappointed because the sleepover at Cole's house had been postponed due to more people being sick. Mama said Chase and Elias played hockey and basketball and on the trampoline; she sent Nanaw a picture of them playing hockey. She also sent Nanaw a picture of Fluffy, Cesi's big fluffy cat. Elias has a cat he named Monster Truck LOL Mama said Chase had a great time, and he must have worn himself out because he slept in the back seat of Dad's truck on the way home. Nanaw/s basement leaked again yesterday, and Uncle Mike came over today to clean it up. He's a hero!

Friday, February 13, 2026

Tuesday, February 10, Wednesday, February 11, Thursday, February 12, and Friday, February 13, 2026

Chase missed two more days of school this week -- Tuesday and Wednesday. He went back to school on Thursday, still with a cough. Each day he was off, Nanaw went up to school to the black box to pick up the homework the teachers had left for him. Each, day, the black box was packed to the top, indicating how many boys and girls were out sick. Chase worked really hard to keep up with his homework and to study for upcoming tests. Nanaw was very proud of him and knew how hard it was for him to study when he felt so bad. He had three chapters of the Hobbit to read and do worksheets for. He had two chapters of vocabulary to do and to study for next Wednesday's test. There were two science tests and a religion test, plus a grammar test and a geography test. He took some of the tests and will take the rest next week. Mama said she should have bought some Vick's, and Nanaw said she had some, and she put it on Chase. He said it helped with his sore throat and cough. His friend Brady was out three days with influenza B. Nanaw bought an electric blanket from Amazon like Mama and Chase have, and Chase wanted to try it out. On Wednesday, Chase went to Brittany for a haircut, and Nanaw took a picture. There was a sleepover and a session at Main Event planned for Chase's friend Cole's birthday but it was still up in the air. Cole had a fever last night but managed to get through school on Friday. So Chase is waiting to see if it happens or if it's postponed. On Friday night, Chase, Mama and Daddy were supposed to go out to dinner with Chase's hockey team at a place in South County called Hot Shots. But Chase wasn't sure if he felt well enough to go. Nanaw is waiting to hear what happened. Chase hasn't had much of an appetite or eaten much while he's been sick so Nanaw is going to wait until the end of the month to weigh and measure him because she's sure he's lost weight. Mama is going to fix a Valentine's dinner Saturday night, and she invited Nanaw. Nanaw hopes Chase gets his appetite back and eats something. Nanaw is going to go over early, before dinner, to study with Chase. They're going to work on the Hobbit chapter 5 worksheet, vocabulary chapter 21, and the geography notes. Mama asked Uncle Mike about Valentine's Day, and he said he and Aunt Becky had ordered dinner from Paul's: steak, twice-baked potatoes, salad and a cookie. Yum! Nanaw put up Valentine magnets on her gnome plaques.
