First thing this morning, before Nanaw came to pick up Chase, the bugaboo crawled into the basket at the bottom of the bassinet. Mama found him there and snapped a photo of him in the basket chewing on his toy t-square, then e-mailed the photo to Nanaw through Chase’s e-mail box. When Chase and Nanaw got to her house, they went for a walk in her subdivision, and Chase stayed awake for the walk. He spent some time in his crib, supposedly sleeping but really grabbing diapers from the table at the end of the crib. Tonight, Chase, Daddy, Mama and Nanaw went to Uncle Mike’s house to visit the recuperating Natalie and for Aunt Becky’s homemade pizza. Daddy wasn’t feeling well so he and Sam stayed at home. Chase was supposed to go swimming in his police car floaty device but couldn't because of the bad thunderstorms. Chase seemed to have a great time in the activity chair that Aunt Becky had stored in her attic and brought out for him to play in. He also watched Mighty Books and worked on the little bug car.

Thursday, September 6, 2012

Chase and Nanaw took their morning walk and spent time at the WE Bar / Bistro – once again Chase stayed awake the whole time. Chase divided his time during the day among the bugaboo chair in the kitchen and living room, the high chair in the kitchen, the Einstein chair downstairs and crawling around the living floor. Once more, Chase was most interested in crawling toward where the electrical cords are located or the Wii controllers in the entertainment center. He seems to know exactly what he shouldn’t be going after. He watched two Samuel Whiskers books on the Mighty Books website and seemed to enjoy them. In the evening, Daddy’s golf plans were cancelled so Mama and Nanaw had a motherand daughter adventure. First, they went to Michael’s for sketch pads and markers for Natalie as she recuperates from her ankle fracture. Then, Mama and Nanaw went to the Schafly branch of the St. Louis Library in the Central West End to see Tess Gerritsen, the mystery writer who created Rizzoli and Iles. The presentation was interesting and funny, and Mama bought Tess' new book, "Last to Die" and had it signed by the author.  Daddy and Chase had a father and son evening together. Sam’s toy of the day was his brown monkey.

Wednesday, September 5, 2012

Chase and Nanaw went for their early morning walk in his subdivision, and he stayed awake for the whole walk. After the walk, they spent time in the WE bar / Bistro. Chase’s new trick is to stand in front of the television set in the living room and press the on and off button or the volume button. Chase wore his new camou shorts, which delighted Nanaw. Chase watched one of the books on the website that Aunt Becky showed him -- it was a poem about a cat named Jennyanydots, written by T.S. Eliot. Sam’s toy of the day was the new purple bear Mama bought him at Dollar Tree.

Tuesday, September 4, 2012

Daddy had the day off today but he generously let Nanaw have Chase for a few hours so they could go to Laptime at the County Library Headquarters. Chase seemed to have a wonderful time – he smiled or laughed the whole time he was there. As usual, he seems to really like looking at other little boys and girls. There were nine children at Laptime so Chase had lots of kids to look at. In the evening Mama made a video of Chase in his high chair babbling and playing: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/31053684/20120904babbling.mov

Monday, September 3, 2012

Nanaw went to visit baby Chase in the afternoon, and he was crawling around the living room with his Mama and Daddy watching his antics. Mama and Nanaw went to Dollar Tree, but Chase stayed home to play with Daddy. When Mama and Nanaw got home, Daddy was lying on the living room floor and Chase was crawling all over him, like Daddy was a mountain. At Dollar Tree, Mama and Nanaw bought plastic books for Chase to chew on. At Marketplace, Mama bought a set of blocks that Chase can play with in the bathtub. In the evening, Mama sent Nanaw a photo of a snoozing bugaboo on the couch, and Nanaw sent Chase a photo of his kitties with their new toy mouse.

Sunday, September 2, 2012

Today was Daddy and Mama’s big Labor Day party. Chase really seemed to enjoy watching all the people there, especially the little ones like Cessie and Mallory. He had lots of volunteers eager to hold him and play with him. He spent time outside zooming around in his bugaboo chair and finally fell asleep in his Daddy’s arms and took a long afternoon nap. In the evening, Daddy brought out Chase’s Pack n Play and he played with his trucks and cars. Aunt Becky showed Chase a wonderful website called Mighty Books that has audio books, songs, games and puzzles for children. He seemed particularly fascinated by a song where capital alphabet letters were marching across the screen. Sam wore his party scarf for the whole party and looked quite stylish.

Saturday, September 1, 2012

Nanaw went over to visit Chase on Saturday morning. She didn’t go to Aspenhof this weekend because of all the rain from Hurricane Isaac. Daddy and Mama were going to spend time getting ready for their big Labor Day party on Sunday. Forty-four people RSVPed that they would be attending so it will be a big party. Chase will have lots of people to look at and hopefully some of them will be little people, his favorite kind.
