We had snow today! Nanaw took Chase out to play in the snow, and he had a grand time! He ran around in the snow visiting Nanaw’s outdoor Christmas decorations. After playing in the snow, Chase and Nanaw went to Clayton Laptime. Because of the weather, there were only about a half dozen boys and girls there. Chase seemed to have a great time visiting with people and playing with the toys. Miss Jeannie did bubbles, and that seems to be one of Chase’s favorite things. Even though it snowed, Chase didn’t have a "snow day" – he still had school. And he recognized an additional three flashcards for a total of 15.

On Thursday, Chase got to see Nanaw’s huge Christmas tree for the first time. He said his usual "Whoa" and proceeded to start grabbing ornaments off the tree. Nanaw soon put a stop to that. Nanaw tried to take pictures of Chase and Sam for the family Christmas card but without too much luck. Nanaw took lots and lots of pictures but she will have to try again. Chase and Nanaw went over to his house for a few hours, and Chase took his nap there. Nanaw took some cute pictures of Sam in his Christmas outfit. Back at Nanaw’s house in the afternoon, Chase went to "school." His big achievement for the day was correctly recognizing 12 flashcards - -what a smart little boy he is! He seems to think the flashcards are a great game – and sometimes he empties the basket full of cards all over his head.

This morning when Mama dropped Chase off at Nanaw’s, he played with the Santa hat so Mama could see, and Nanaw could take pictures. Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart to get milk for Chase at home and groceries for Nanaw. Chase also got four Hot Wheels and an airplane – all of which seemed to really delight him. Nanaw found another train for Chase – it’s the one that his Mama played with when she was a little girl so it’s very special. It runs on D batteries, which Nanaw didn’t have, so this means another trip to Walmart on Thursday for Chase and Nanaw. When Chase and Nanaw took the milk to Chase’s house, Nanaw took a picture of Sam with a red hat on and sent it to Mama – silly Nanaw! When they got home, Chase ran around Nanaw’s front yard, visiting the Nativity scene and the snowmen. At school, Chase played again with his train books, and amazingly enough, he recognized the four new flashcards he learned yesterday. He also seems to recognize the number 9 – who knows where that came from.

Chase’s adventure today was going to Tesson Ferry Laptime. He hasn’t been there for months because of going to the Columbia Library Babygarten. Chase didn’t want to sit on Nana’w lap during story and song time but he stayed close and didn’t run around the room until after the stories and songs were finished. One of the little girls kept crawling after him, and he seemed to like that. He somehow got one of the boys his size to chase after him all around the room, and Chase really seemed to like that. At school, Chase and Nanaw started watching "Monsters University" again. Chase scored 100% on his flashcard test again, and Nanaw taught him four new cards. But Nanaw decided that might be too many so she’ll only teach him one new card each day.

Chase’s main adventure today was seeing and playing with the trains Nanaw set up for him on the coffee table in the lving room. When he got to Nanaw’s house in the morning, he headed straight for the coffee table and said his usual "Whoa" that means he’s excited. He ran around the coffee table, following the train – it was very cute. Amazingly enough, he didn’t touch the train or derail it – he just watched it go round and round the track. Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart where Chase looked at all the brightly lit Christmas trees and seemed to really like them. Then they went to the bank where Chase was well-behaved and charming In the afternoon at school, Nanaw gave Chase a test of recognizing the flashcards he knows and he score 100% -- smart little fellow. In the evening, Chase went for a walk with Mama, Daddy and Sam, and they went up the hill to see the house that has a humongous light display. Chase said "Whoa" and "Wow" about the display.

On Sunday, Chase went for a walk with Mama, Daddy and Sam. Then he played outside twice (riding his backhoe that little Will brought over for him Friday night) and finally watched football with Mama and Daddy. Nanaw came over for an interesting dinner of Little Smokies and cheese wrapped in crescent rolls with Rice Krispie Treats for dessert. Chase and Nanaw played with his cars (which he calls "bye-byes") for a long time, then Nanaw chased him up and down the hall. Mama started putting up Christmas decorations, and she was teaching Chase to say "Santa." When Nanaw left, Chase was chasing Daddy up and down the hall with the push toys – very cute.
