In the morning, Daddy came to pick up Mama at Nanaw’s house at 6:30 so she could go home to get her car and drive to work. Chase slept till 8 because he had a late night the night before. Chase and Nanaw spent a quiet day at Nanaw’s with coloring and flashcards and playing with the mega blocks. Chase seems to be getting a bit restless and wild staying inside for three days in a row. He’s used to going on adventures with Nanaw or playing outside with Daddy.

Chase and Nanaw spent the day at Chase’s house. Mama had planned to work at home because of the snow but her laptop wouldn’t work so she had to go into the office. Nanaw had spent the night in the spare room and that became Chase’s new favorite room. He seemed to enjoy playing "night-night" on the bed and then jumping up and down on the bed. He colored for several hours and seemed to like identifying pictures that Nanaw drew (very badly) for him. In the evening Mama called Nanaw to say their power was out, and Mama, Chase, Sam and Mufasa were coming to spend the night at Nanaw’s. Daddy stayed home and built a fire in the fireplace so the pipes wouldn’t freeze. The power came back on about 2:30 a.m.

Lots of snow! We think Columbia got at least 8 inches of snow. Mama called Nanaw to see if she wanted to spend the night so that Chase didn’t have to go out in the subzero weather, and Nanaw said yes. Mama came to get her, and Nanaw enjoyed spending time with Chase before it was time for him to go "night-night." He played with his mega blocks in his room and with his toys in the living room. He laid on Mama’s lap to drink his milk, then went to sit with Daddy.

On her way home from a trip to Aspenhof with Uncle Mike to put a heater in the cistern, Nanaw went to visit Chase. He was being a bit fussy because Daddy, Chase’s favorite playmate in the world, wasn’t feeling well and couldn’t play with Chase. So Mama and Nanaw tried to stand in for Daddy and play with Chase in his room before dinner. He played with his zoo, insisting on dumping the bag of animals all over the floor, as usual. He spent a long while playing with the mega blocks with Mama and Nanaw. Mama made excellent pizza for dinner but Chase preferred the peas Mama fixed for him – such a silly boy. Everybody is waiting anxiously for the 6 to 10 inch snowfall that’s predicted for Saturday night and Sunday morning. Unfortunately, it’s going to turn bitterly cold so Chase won’t be able to go outside and play in the snow.

Chase’s adventure for the day was going to Clayton Laptime. Before they went, Nanaw had a conversation with Chase about how he was supposed to sit on Nanaw’s lap during story time and song time and not try to run around the room. Nanaw also told Chase to be gentle with the other boys and girls because he’s a big boy and most of the other children are smaller and some are babies. During story time and song time, Chase sat on Nanaw’s lap so that was a big success. He wasn’t rough with the other children so that was a good thing. He did something very cute today: He went around to various adults and threw a ball to them or gave them toys. He’s such a social little thing. Chase stayed late with Nanaw while Mama and Daddy went to a happy hour in honor of Mama’s birthday and the birthday of a friend of hers. Chase and Nanaw played in his room with his mega blocks. It’s so cute to watch him playing with the blocks – he’s really fast at building things. Nanaw is thinking about buying more mega blocks for Chase.

Snow! We had a couple of inches of snow overnight. Chase went "outside" – his favorite place – to play in the snow. Nanaw took photos of him in the snow and thought they didn’t turn out but they did – nice surprise! He seemed to have a great time running around the snow in his back yard. Chase and Nanaw also ran errands at the library and Walmart. In the afternoon, Chase spent a long time coloring at Nanaw’s desk. He seems to prefer blank paper to coloring books for coloring. When Daddy arrived at Nanaw’s house, he shoveled the snow in her driveway, and Chase got all excited to see Daddy outside. He kept calling "Daddy" and banging on the front storm door – very cute.

Chase’s first adventure today was playing outside with Daddy in the morning. Daddy put together the Radio Flyer ramp and car that Uncle Chris, Aunt Kristen, Cessie and Eli gave Chase at his birthday party. Mama says Chase seemed to have a really good time riding down the ramp in the car. Chase’s next adventure was going to Walmart with Mama and Nanaw. He was a good little shopper as usual. In the evening, Nanaw came over for a dinner of appetizers: rye bread pizza, rotel dip, meatballs, Little Smokies, shrimp and cheesecake for dessert. After dinner, Mama, Chase and Nanaw colored on the kitchen table again. Chase did a lot of coloring and a lot of recognizing of the drawings Mama made. Coloring seems to be one of his favorite activities. Mama says she’s looking forward to the days of play dough and hopes it happens soon.
