Saturday morning, Nanaw went over to play with Chase. They went downstairs and played with his train and his tunnel. After Nanaw left, Mama took Chase with her to Schnucks to do the grocery shopping. Mama said he was a good little boy and only tried to take a couple of things off the shelves. Mama bought Chase a treat of little cookies in a container. When they were leaving and Mama was putting Chase into his car seat, he found the snack container that attaches to the car seat so he could have the little cookies in the container – very cute. Mama sent Nanaw a picture she took of Chase putting coins into one of his piggy banks. Mama said he kept saying "More money" and she had to keep giving him more coins – also very cute.

Chase and Nanaw took a morning walk, and then went to the library. Nanaw turned in Chase’s halfway report for the Baby Summer Reading Program. Chase’s prize was three bath toys that squirt water: a shark, a penguin and a hippo. Chase played on the computer and talked to another boy sitting at the next computer. He also played with the Legos and the blocks and sat on the kid-sized furniture. Nanaw checked out four more Thomas the Train DVDs but she forgot to use the DVD opening device so she’ll have to go back to the library before Monday so Chase can watch Thomas. For lunch, he fed himself chicken and rice and ate most of it and seemed to like it. He also did well feeding himself yogurt. Chase took a long afternoon nap, and Nanaw missed seeing him and playing with him.

Today Chase may have had one of the most exciting adventures of his life so far -- he and Nanaw went to the Transportation Museum. They spent three hours there, walking through trains, looking at cars and playing in the "Creation Station" -- a large room filled with Thomas the Train tables and lots of Thomas engines and other train cars, plus a pretend kitchen, costumes to try on, a craft and coloring area, books, and lots of other things. It was truly an amazing room, and Chase seemed to enjoy every moment of the hour he got to play there. After the "Creation Station," Chase and Nanaw rode on the miniature train that goes around the museum twice. Chase seemed to really like riding the train, and he waved to everyone he saw. Chase and Nanaw also rode the tram up the hill to the train yard and train shed, and Chase liked that also. He walked on the train tracks and threw rocks around, one of his favorite things. All in all, it was a super visit to the museum, and Nanaw will take Chase back frequently.

Chase and Nanaw spent a rainy day at home. Mama sent two DVDs with Chase for him to watch on a rainy day indoors: Dora the Explorer and Spot. Chase watched the Dora DVD twice and really seemed to enjoy it. After she got home from work, Mama came to pick up Chase and Nanaw for a shopping adventure to buy Father’s Days presents for Daddy. Mama bought Daddy a gift certificate at Shoe Carnival for a new pair of flip-flops. She’s also going to get him gift cards for Home Depot and Sports Authority. At Walmart, Mama bought Chase a light-up alligator that made him very happy. On the way out of Walmart, Mama, Chase and Nanaw stopped in the game room so Chase could ride on the school bus, which he had requested. To their surprise, the school bus was gone and had been replaced by a horse. So Chase rode on the horse and seemed to enjoy himself.

Chase’s first adventure concerned his science project. Every day since they planted the tomato and grass seeds, Chase and Nanaw have been going out on the upper deck to see if the plants are growing. Tuesday morning they saw that the seeds had sprouted. Chase seemed to understand what was happening and seemed excited to see the plants growing. Next, Chase and Nanaw went to Chase’s house to check on the new barstools that Mama had delivered. The barstools were on the deck in a big box that Chase seemed to find interesting. Next, Chase and Nanaw went to the library park. They took a walk around the perimeter of the park and then Chase played on the playground. He absolutely had a great time playing on the slides and going through the tunnels. He met a three-year-old girl named McKinley there and tried to play with her but she was very shy, and it took a long while for her to play with Chase. In the afternoon, Chase and Nanaw went downstairs for school. They said the Pledge of Allegiance, sang songs, read nursery rhymes and colored. Then Chase played with his trains. When Nanaw took Chase home, they went out in Chase’s back yard to see the barstools Daddy had put together and the big cardboard box that Daddy put under the deck for Chase to play in.

Chase and Nanaw went for an early morning walk in her subdivision. After the walk, they went to Schnucks in Columbia to buy a birthday card for Aunt Rita. Chase got to ride in one of the bee-bye carts for the first time. It had two steering wheels, and he was using both of them at the same time. Nanaw pushed Chase and the cart over to the post office to mail the card, and Chase seemed to have great time riding in it. When they put it back in the cart stand, Chase saw a fire truck cart and wanted to get in that one so Nanaw let him. In the afternoon, Chase played downstairs with his Thomas the bubble maker. But he spent most of the afternoon downstairs playing with his trains. He seems to absolutely love trains. Tomorrow, Nanaw will make sure Chase has plenty of school time.

Chase’s major adventure on Sunday was going shopping at Best Buy with Mama and Daddy. They bought a fancy stereo for the WE bar. It has Blutooth capabilities and you can hook up iPods¸ iPhones, etc. to it. Very nice! They also tried to go to the barstool store but it wasn’t open yet. Mama bought barstools online from Loew’s, and they’ll be delivered on Tuesday. Nanaw came over to visit in the evening, and Chase showed her the visiting turtle that was in the back yard. Chase seemed to really like the turtle, and Mama brought water out for the turtle. Chase played with bubbles and seemed to have fun with that. His favorite thing seemed to be writing on the concrete with the sidewalk chalk that Mama bought for him.
