Mama packed two construction machine books and a dump truck for today’s story time. Chase went into his room and got more construction books and his digger so they could come to story time also. Chase’s adventure for today was a trip to Walmart. Nanaw checked to see if horsey was fixed and he was. So Chase got to ride on horsey for the first time in a long while, and he was very happy about it. He also had candy from the vending machine. Nanaw bought him another train – a blue one named Connor. After they got home from Walmart, Chase and Nanaw played with his tools and watched Bob the Builder. When it was time to go home, Chase ran to find Connor so he could take him home. Nanaw told Chase that they were going to the train house tomorrow, and Chase liked that idea, of course.

Chase had two adventures today: going to Powder Valley and to the Telegraph Road Library. First thing in the morning, Chase and Nanaw went downstairs to play trains. Then they played with Chase’s toys in his room. Next they visited Powder Valley. Chase did all his regular stops at his favorite things: the two puppet areas, the treehouse with the snake display and the wooden puppet; the fish aquarium downstairs; the fish aquarium upstairs; the turtles; the videos about turkeys, geese and ducks; the frog outside; and all the coloring areas. Chase said he wanted to walk on the walking bridge, and Nanaw said they would as soon as the weather was warm enough. In one of the display rooms, Chase found a magnifying glass and told Nanaw what it was and that it makes things bigger. Nanaw was amazed – she had no idea he knew what a magnifying glass is and what it does. After Powder Valley, they went to the library where Chase played on the computer and played with the blocks, games and puzzles. Chase wanted to check out a Thomas book from the library so they did.

Chase’s adventure for Tuesday was a trip to the Science Center with Nanaw. It was only his second time there – they went last summer. It wasn’t nearly as crowded today as it was during the summer so that made it a lot better for Chase. He was able to try out a lot more things. He spent a great deal of time at the table with the bridges and little cars. He also spent a lot of time in the digging area – it was set up like an archeological dig area, and it had lots of shovels. The digging area was next to a humongous dinosaur that roared and that was by a mastodon. There was also a table with toy dinosaurs the children could play with, and Chase did that for awhile. Chase seemed to have a really good time, and Nanaw will definitely take him back to the Science Center lots of times. Mama says she wants to go too!

Mama and Daddy had the day off from work, and Chase’s only adventure with Nanaw on Monday was going to the Movers and Shakers program at the Columbia Library. Chase behaved amazingly well, like a big boy. He didn’t run around the room, -- he sat on Nanaw’s lap for the songs and the story time with the books. He did everything that Miss Angie told the boys and girls to do. He played with the toys with the other children. He seemed to have a really good time and seemed to enjoy all the activities. Everyone’s favorite activity was making popcorn with a sheet and snowballs. The children all shrieked with delight when the popcorn balls went flying everywhere. Nanaw took videos of the popcorn activity and a similar elevator activity so that Mama and Daddy could see what Chase did at Movers and Shakers.

Chase’s adventure for Sunday was his Mama and Daddy’s Super Bowl game. Nanaw came to the party and spent almost the whole time playing with Chase. Chase seemed to have a good time with all the guests – he’s quite the party animal. Uncle George brought him a musical Thomas book that was quite the hit with Chase. When Uncle Mike arrived, Chase said, "Uncle Mike is my greatest friend!" – very cute. Chase and Nanaw played with his toys in the living room and then in his room. Then they went downstairs and played with the trains and balls and bats in the purple room. Mama made wonderful food for the Super Bowl party but Chase just ate chips and dip, plus a football cookie that cousin Nichole made for him. Nanaw had lots of Little Smokies, meatballs and wings from Hooters. Yum! It was a very successful party, and everyone had a good time.
