Saturday night was Mama's 48th birthday party. When Nanaw got there, Chase came running down the hall to her and gave her a hug. Nanaw was very excited about that. Lots of Mama's friends were there, including Jen, Joe and Jackson, Chappie, Kristen and Jackson, Alice, Chris, Phoebe and Will, Stan and Becca, Mike, Becky, Natalie, Kathleen, Theresa and Dave. Mama had lots of good food: pizza from Pizza Hut; chicken tetrazzini; lots of dips and chips. Kathleen brought a major cake from the bakery -- best cake Nanaw ever tasted. Nanaw played lots with Chase, Jackson, Jackson and Will. They played in the blue room and in the man cave with the Bridge Jump. They had lots of fun jumping on the bed and playing hide the dice. They also played pretend hockey and soccer. Nanaw had lots of fun, and the boys did, too. When Nanaw left, Mama asked Nanaw if she could handle waiting till Sunday night at dinner at Joe Boccardi's to see Chase again. She said she could, and Mama told Nanaw that Chase missed her on Saturday and asked when Nanaw was coming to see him. That made Nanaw feel so good.

Chase's class at school has a new way for the boys and girls to sign in. Starting on Wednesday, they now sign their names themselves on the board, rather than moving their names from one side to the other. On Friday, a new component was added: They now have to scratch out their names in a column on the right. Evidently, it was difficult for the teachers to read the names the children had written. After Chase signed in, he and some other children went to the fish aquarium to look at the fish, and Nanaw went with them for a few minutes. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, they went to the bank where Chase got a sucker, then to Dollar Tree. Chase got a blue car and a can of blue silly string. Next, they went to Schnuck's to get the cherry chip cake and frosting mix for Mama's birthday cake, plus cherry ice cream, birthday candles and a bag of red licorice bites. When they got home, Chase sprayed silly string around Nanaw's front yard, them went into the house to play with his tablet -- that boy loves his tablet. In the evening, Mama, Daddy, Chase and Nanaw went to Hooter's for dinner. After dinner, Mama, Daddy and Chase went into Home Depot to get curtain rings for Mama's shower curtain. Nanaw waited in Daddy's truck with the motor running because it was 12 degrees outside.

We had about two inches of snow Wednesday night and Thursday morning. Chase was so excited and wanted to go outside to play in the snow as soon as Mama brought him to Nanaw's house. It was really cold outside so Nanaw said they would wait until 9 o'clock. When they went outside, Chase put Tee Tee and three backups into the little Tee Tee house. Chase played with his little blue wagon and his snow scooping toys. He scooped lots of snow to put in the wagon. On his own, he lay down on the ground and began to make snow angels. Nanaw gave Chase a snow shovel, and he shoved it up and down the driveway -- very cute. Chase and Nanaw threw snowballs at each other and got their gloves all frozen with snow. So after a bout 45 minutes outside playing in the snow, they went inside to unfreeze their hands. Later in the afternoon, Nanaw had Chase sit on her lap. Then he said, "At some point, I have to get away." Where does he learn those things. When Nanaw took Chase home, his first words to Daddy, were, "Can we play Play Dough Town?" He's so cute about wanting to play with Daddy.

Chase had an unfortunate day -- he got sick at school. And Mama had to leave work to pick him up. Nanaw couldn't do it because she was at Dobbs getting her tire fixed. (They found a big drill bit in it.) Nanaw picked up Chase when she was done at Dobbs. Mama sent along: Chase's Kindle tablet, Secret Life of Pets, Ice Age, Ritz crackers, 7-Up, and Goldfish. At Nanaw's house, Chase watched both movies while playing with the Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage -- quite the multi-tasker. He took a night-night nap, with tablet -- but he eventually fell asleep anyway. On the way home, he threw up all over himself, Nanaw's car, his R2D2 backpack and the Magic House backpack. Nanaw waited till she got home to clean up the car. Then she went to get gas because it's supposed to snow. Uncle Mike and Aunt Beck bought a wonderful new truck -- a Ford diesel, and they stopped in Columbia at Chase's house on their way home from Perryville. Uncle Mike, Mama and Nanaw went for a drive in the new truck but Chase stayed at home.

When Mama brought Chase to Nanaw's house on Tuesday morning, the first thing he did was play with one of Nanaw's musical Hallmark toys -- the penguin party hat song -- to show Mama what the song was. After Mama left, Chase and Nanaw had breakfast in Chase's room and played with his Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage. Then they went downstairs for Nanaw to walk on the treadmill and for Chase to play with the train from Jane. Nanaw was very impressed to see Chase putting the track together and attaching various pieces -- he did a really good job. Next, Chase and Nanaw went to the Magic House. But unfortunately they didn't stay. The parking lot was full and they couldn't park there; and there was no place nearby on the street to park. So they went home. Chase was disappointed but Nanaw promised that they would try again on Thursday after Story Time with Miss Candy. After lunch, Chase and Nanaw played abcmouse and then Chase took a nap. After his nap, he played abcmouse again and had popcorn.

Mama had a party on the Day After New Year's to watch the Winter Classic hockey game at Busch Stadium. Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky and Nichole's friend Kathleen came. Food included: hot dogs, Little Smokies wrapped in bacon, Rotel cheese dip, other dips, lots of chips, and little baby chocolate chip cookies. The Blues won the hockey game against the Blackhawks so that was wonderful. Chase had a great time playing outside -- he played baseball, hockey and golf, plus running with Daddy. Then Chase and Nanaw went inside and played games on their tablets. The Nanaw downloaded a War card game on her iPad, and they played that. Later, everybody came in the house from the party at the WE bar (it was cold and rainy outside), and Chase and Daddy played cards on the living room floor. First, they played War with a deck of very large cards Mama gave Chase. Then Chase made up a card game that was a combination of War and Memory / Concentration. He's a very creative, imaginative little fellow.

Nanaw went to Chase's house for dinner on New Year's Day for delicious roast beef and onion rings. Then for dessert, she had a hot fudge sundae with whipped cream and pecans -- double yum!! When Nanaw got there, she had Chase and Mama put on New Year's hats and blow horns. Then Chase took Nanaw downstairs to see Thomas' Sky High Bridge Jump. He also walked on the treadmill for awhile, even thought that made Nanaw very nervous because she was afraid he'd fall and get hurt. After dinner, Chase and Daddy went downstairs to play a video game on TV while Mama cleaned up the kitchen. When Chase came upstairs, he saw that Mama and Nanaw were playing the card game War, and he wanted to play too. So the three of them played War and Chase had a grand time. He's so competitive, and he really got into the game. Nanaw promised that they would play again soon. Next, Chase wanted to play Hungry Hippo, and he wanted Daddy to join them. So the four of them played a couple of games of Hungry Hippo, and Daddy won all of them. Mama and Daddy are having a party tomorrow for Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky, Kathleen and Nanaw to watch the Winter Classic hockey game. Nanaw discovered that someone had tried to take her baby Jesus but couldn't because fortunately Uncle Mike had tied him down.
