Friday's major adventure was a trip to the St. Louis Zoo for Chase, Mama and Nanaw. Early in the morning, it rained but then the rain stopped and didn’t' return till late afternoon. When they got to the Zoo, Chase wanted a map so Nanaw took him to the map machine, and he opened the lid and took out a map and began to look at it. It was very cute. They went to see a lot of their favorite animals: penguins, puffins, polar bear, giraffes, zebras, elephants, hippos, tigers, cheetahs, turtles, and more. They rode on the train, although at first Chase said he didn't want to ride on the train. On the way out, Mama bought two big bags of kettle corn, Nanaw's favorite. Their last stop was at the gift shop where Mama bought Chase a squishy toy that Nanaw doesn't understand. Nanaw bought another bag of rocks (Chase helped her pick them out) and a navy blue fanny pack. After the zoo, they went to Walmart to get the rest of Chase's school supplies; Mama also bought him a cool navy blue windbreaker with a hood that will go with his uniforms. Nanaw didn't go out to dinner with them because she was full of kettle corn. Nanaw will find out from Mama on Saturday where they went -- she wanted to go to Merz on Main and was trying to convince Chase.

Chase had two major adventures on Thursday. On his first adventure, Chase and Nanaw went to the Train House and had a wonderful time. Chase wanted a map when they got there so Miss Lynn, sweet lady that she is, gave him a map, and then pointed out the various sights for him -- it was so very cute. Miss Linda was happy to see Chase and Nanaw and said seeing them was a blessing for her -- a very cute thing. Chase and Nanaw played with the magnetic blocks for a long while. Then Chase made friends with two boys his age and played with them on the school bus and with the trains. Chase got his popcorn but didn't want to ride the train. He did want to go up the hill and climb on the trains but it was really hot outside so Nanaw didn’t want to do that. Chase's second adventure on Thursday was a play date at the little park by the Columbia Library with all his new kindergarten friends. Brady and Emma were there, along with lots of Chase's other friends. The kids had a great time together, and it seems as though they're all looking forward to going back to school. Chase made some new friends and had fun playing basketball with Brady and Will and a friend named Cole. After the play date, Mama, Daddy, Chase and Nanaw got food at McDonald's and went back to Chase's house to eat dinner. At the end is a picture of Rally Cat (who looks so much like baby Princess) and a picture of some of Chase's stuffed animals who had a sleepover at Nanaw's house because Nanaw forgot to give Mama the Thomas backpack.

Chase and Nanaw had breakfast outside at the Nanaw Bistro (the front yard with Chase's picnic table and Nanaw's deck chair). After breakfast, they played baseball and Nanaw took pictures to send to Mama. For awhile, Chase watched the Cats and Dogs movie. Then they got ready for their Wednesday adventure: a trip to the Magic House, where Chase had a wonderful time as usual. Chase played in the hockey area, the Clifford room, the musical instruments, and then they went outside so Chase could wade in the water. While they were out there, one of the Magic House staff said Hello to Chase. It was one of his Magic House Camp counselors. She said she remembered Chase and hoped he would come back next year. Nanaw told her how much Chase loved camp and that he certainly would be back next year. Chase spent a long while playing in the construction area -- Nanaw thinks it's one of his favorite places. On their way home from the Magic House, they stopped at Walmart, and Nanaw bought Chase a Minion Tic Tac Toe man and a Paw Patrol race track. In the afternoon, Chase watched more of the Cats and Dogs movie, then they went outside and played baseball again. The tree man came to look at Nanaw's dead trees in the back yard; he'll call her with an estimate tomorrow. Nanaw took Chase home and stayed for awhile to play Play Dough with Mama and Chase. Mama and Chase went to Imo's for dinner (Daddy was golfing), and then they went to the little park by the library where they saw Brady and his Mom.

Chase and Nanaw stayed home on Tuesday but kept really busy doing all kinds of fun things. First they played in Chase's room with the Hot Wheels Ultimate Garage. Chase decided to invent a game of baseball with his Cars cars being the players and the garage being the Hot Wheels Baseball Stadium -- it was very cute. Next, Chase invented a new version of Checkers where the red pieces went on the red squares and the black pieces went on the black squares. Then you threw the dice to find out how far to move your pieces. The little fellow is a creative one. Chase's next activity was to get out his Thomas the Train book with the miniature trains and his Choo Choo Charlie train set (Nanaw bought it at an A.G. Edwards book sale when the older grandchildren were younger and she still had it for Chase to play with). He set them up on the dining room table to play with them. Somehow the play turned into a baseball game, with the trains being the players and marbles and plastic sticks being the bats and balls. What a kid! Chase also wrote his name for Nanaw -- she's having him write his name every day as practice for kindergarten. Nanaw sent Mama a picture of Max and Gidget who accidentally had a sleepover at Nanaw's last night. Chase's last activity of the day was playing with Play Dough. This time he made baseball players, bats and balls out of the Play Dough. Chase has a one-track mind and the one track is baseball.

Monday, August 7, 2017

Chase and Nanaw's Monday adventure was a trip to the Science Center. They got there right after it opened and were easily able to get a parking space. So from now on, they'll go early in the morning -- except when Chase is in school and then they won't get there till 3:30 p.m. Nanaw asked Chase if he wanted to go to the Discovery Room, and at first, Chase said no. Then they walked over to the Discovery Room and Chase realized what it was, and he decided he wanted to go. They went downstairs to the lobby and bought tickets for the 11 a.m. session. Chase was very excited and kept asking if it was time to go yet. His first stop in the room was the water table where he wore a plastic apron and played with duckies and boats. Then he played with some loop blocks that you rolled marbles down. Next, he spent a lot of time on both levels of the space capsule. He said he made friends with a little boy in a green shirt. They were sitting together at one of command centers. Chase says the boy taught him how to do blastoff by counting backwards from 10 to one. Chase also went down the slide and then played with the Star Wars ships. The Discovery Room was a great success, and Chase and Nanaw will definitely go back. The first picture below is one that Mama sent to Nanaw of Chase swimming with Jackson on Saturday.
