Chase had the day off from school so Nanaw planned several activities for him. In the morning, he played abcmouse at the kitchen counter, then played his make-believe games in his room for awhile. At noon, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart, and Nanaw bought him some Mario Monopoly figures. Next, they went to the Magic House. The most exciting thing happened there -- Chase and Nanaw got to see a special member preview of the Dinosaur Train room. It doesn't open to the public until October 6 but Chase and Nanaw got to spend time there with other members visiting. The room is totally awesome, and Chase had so much fun there. He didn't want to leave, of course, but they had to get home. On the way home, they dropped off some paintings at Goodwill, then went inside to look at toys for Chase. He found a miniature air hockey table, and Nanaw bought it for him. Mama told Nanaw to please stop buying things for him. Nanaw went to dinner at O'Charley's with Mama, Daddy and Chase, and then went shopping at Target and CostCo. It was a wonderful family adventure.

On Thursday morning, Mama was unable to order Chase's lunch online. (It turns out that there was a system issue, not a problem with Mama.) So Chase took his lunch for the first time. He seemed a little nervous about it, but Alaina's grandmother told Nanaw that Chase told her he had a new lunch bag and that he seemed excited about bringing his lunch to school. On the way home from school, Chase and Nanaw stopped at Chase's house to change his clothes. He wanted to wear Halloween colors so he put on an orange shirt and black shorts. Then he and Nanaw went to Schnuck's to get more special litter for Sidney Crosby. Nanaw wants to let him out in the house rather than keeping him in the bathroom so she has to use the special litter for all the cats. After Schnuck's, they went to Dollar Tree. Nanaw was happy to be able to buy two more carvable pumpkins with the kind of decorations she likes. For Chase, she also bought blue slime, a blue snake and a golf club. After Dollar Tree, they went to library to return books and get more books for Mama. Back at Nanaw's house, Chase played with the blue slime, then decorated the two new pumpkins. Mama called Nanaw to tell her that she and Daddy were dropping Mama's car off at the dealer for an oil change and wouldn't be at home when Nanaw and Chase got there. So Nanaw, Sam and Chase sat on the front porch and waited for Mama and Daddy. The first picture below is one that Nanaw forgot to put in yesterday, of Chase dancing with the Jack Skellington snowman.

When Nanaw took Chase to school on Wednesday morning, he asked Nanaw what they were going to do after school. Nanaw gave him a list of things they could do, and Chase chose Powder Valley. Mama asked Nanaw to change him out of his uniform before they went to Powder Valley. So Nanaw took along a shirt and shorts for him to change into. On the way there, they called Mama to give her a drop-off report. Mama and Nanaw were talking, and Chase said, "Stop talking. I want to introduce my new sight words." It was very funny, and Mama and Nanaw enjoyed what the little fellow said. Chase was very happy to be at Powder Valley; he loves going there. When he got out of the car, he said they could take a walk some other time because he was tired. He said hello to Mr. Frog outside, then they went inside and Nanaw changed Chase's clothes in the restroom. They visited all his favorite places: the snakes, the frogs, the tarantula, the puppets, the birdhouse, the bees, the tree-house, the bear, the bugs, and the fish aquarium with the turtle trying to bury himself / herself in the gravel. On the way out, Chase selected a turtle sticker and spelled sticker for the Powder Valley man.

When Chase came over to Nanaw's house on Tuesday morning, she promised him that he could put out her Halloween decorations when he got home from school. On the way to school, a lady bumped into the rear of Nanaw's car. It didn't damage the car but it messed up the Marines bumper sticker Uncle Mike bought for Nanaw in San Diego. The lady said she would get Nanaw another bumper sticker but Nanaw doesn't know how that's going to happen. Mama said she could have one of her friends in San Diego get one for Nanaw. Chase put out the Halloween decorations when he and Nanaw got back from school, and he did a really good job. Then they went downstairs and played school for awhile. Then they played trains on Chase's Thomas the Train table, something they hadn't done for a long time. It was fun! Chase's teacher Mrs. Hermann posted two more Chase photos to the Seesaw app, and Nanaw included them below. One is of Chase with three "grils" making popcorn. The other is of his class wearing the headbands they made for the letter A, with alligators and eyeballs. Nanaw loves the app and loves seeing pictures of Chase at school.

When Nanaw took Chase to school on Monday morning, he turned in his penguin story to Mrs. Hermann for the Young authors contest. Mrs. Hermann talked to Nanaw about volunteering in the classroom and promised to get back to Nanaw with details on what she can do. Nanaw is very excited about being able to help out with the children -- she thinks it will be great fun. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he was wearing what he called an alligator headband. Then he put it on upside down and it was an eyeballs headband. Very cute. On the way home, Chase and Nanaw went to the library to drop off books and to play in the playroom. Chase checked out three library books all on his own -- he picked out the books and used his own library card to check out the books -- it was very cute. When Chase got home, Mama had the Halloween decorations out for them to put up. Chase was very excited about decorating. Mama sent Nanaw a picture of Chase in front of the hearth, with Tyler lying nearby, pretending that the pumpkins were talking -- very creative of the little fellow.

On Sunday afternoon, Mama and Chase had an adventure. They went to the Columbia Festifall on Main Street with Brady and Emma and their Mama. Chase and Brady spent most of their time in the bounce house, of course. But Mama says they did spend some time painting a pumpkin. The pumpkin is now at Chase's house, on the hearth. Nanaw came over to visit Chase when she got home from the little house. She brought her laptop along with her so that she and Chase could play abcmouse. Nanaw wanted to play Hamster Bowling but they never did find it. Chase had spent most of his tickets -- Nanaw wasn't sure what he bought. Chase did his sight words with Mama, and Nanaw was so impressed at how good he is with them. Mama showed Nanaw Chase's Young Authors' submission. It's a story about a big penguin and a little penguin and how the little penguin went swimming. Chase drew pictures of penguins for his submission. It's very cute, just like the author.
