Mama had the day off from work on Friday so she took Chase to school. Mama and Nanaw had planned to visit cousin Lindsey at the hospital on Friday but didn't because she went home early on Friday evening. Mama went to have lunch with Auntie LaLa and then visited with her at her house in the afternoon. Nanaw picked Chase up from school. On their way home, they stopped at Chase's house to pick up Tee Tee and some of Chase's stuffed "amamals." Then they went to the library. Chase selected a library book all on his own -- one of the "I Spy" books. He used his own library card, typed in the pin number and printed out his receipt -- such a grown-up boy. Nanaw went out to dinner with Mama, Daddy and Chase at Bully's, one of Nanaw's very favorite places. Nanaw had barbecued ribs, and Chase had chicken tenders. Some of the pictures below are of Chase at school from the Seesaw app.

Daddy took Chase to school on Thursday morning for a special mass and then a visit to the new school under construction. The students signed a beam that is going to be part of the new building. Daddy took a picture of Chase's signature and sent it to Mama, who sent it to Nanaw. Nanaw picked Chase up from school, and they went to the library. First, they stopped at the cemetery, and cousin Lindsey and Erik were there visiting Pawpaw. Later, Lindsey went to urgent care for an abdominal pain. They sent her to the emergency room, where they discovered that she needed to have her appendix out on Friday morning. In the evening, Mama had an opening day party for the Cardinals -- Uncle Mike and Nanaw were the guests. They had hot dogs and Italian sausage and two kinds of Mama's fancy dip -- White Castle and chicken. Mama bought a Cardinals chocolate chip cookie at Schnucks. Part of the time, Chase played hockey with Daddy and part of the time he played with his tablet. Some of the pictures below are of Chase at school from the Seesaw app.

Introducing the mystery of the missing water bottle. Chase wasn't carrying his water bottle when Nanaw picked him up from school on Tuesday. So Nanaw assumed he'd left it in his classroom. But on Wednesday morning, Nanaw looked around the classroom for the water bottle but couldn't find it. Then, after school on Wednesday, when Nanaw was getting Chase's papers out of his backpack, she felt something wet. Inside the side pocket of the backpack, she found the water bottle -- so mystery solved. Nanaw volunteered in Chase's class on Wednesday, and had about 12 boys and girls reading to her. There were three books about birds, ducks, eggs, and beavers. The boys and girls did really well with their reading, and Nanaw had a wonderful time listening to them. She likes the class very, very much. In the evening, Chase had baseball practice, even though it was very cold outside. Nanaw didn't know whether she was going out in the cold to watch practice but then decided she would go, at least for a little while. It was cold, but Chase did really well with his hitting. Daddy said he did the best of all.

Tuesday, April 3, 2018

Chase's spring break was over on Tuesday, and it was back to school for the little fellow. He was happy to go back and see his friends and his teacher -- Chase loves school. On the way in to school, Chase and Nanaw saw Brady and his Mama. Brady told them he was excited to get markers and colored pencils for Easter. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, it had started storming -- rain, lightning and thunder. On the way home, they went to the library where Chase had a great time playing pet adoption with two of the other children there. Next, they went to the tax place to pick up Nanaw's taxes. Chase likes to go there because they have bowls full of candy. Chase selected three suckers and was delighted with his selection. When Nanaw took Chase home, Daddy was out taking Sam for his walk, before the rain started again.

Monday, April 2, 2018

Monday was Chase's last day of spring break; he goes back to school tomorrow and Nanaw will miss her little buddy and companion. Chase and Nanaw went on an adventure to the Science Center; it was crowded and Nanaw assumed it was because lots of schools were on spring break. Chase had a really great time, visiting lots of his favorite places: the dinosaur room with new stuffed dinosaurs, the big roaring dinosaur, the dinosaur dig, the sandbox, the smoke tornado, the energy displays, the planet display in the lobby and the Mars displays and Mars Rover. He said his favorite thing was the chickens. There were a group of about 10 chickens in a penned area outside, and Chase and Nanaw went outside to look at them and talk to them. It was great fun. Next, when they left, they went to see the huge T Rex and triceratops outside displays -- very cool. It was a great day, and Nanaw is looking forward to the summer so she can spend lots and lots of days with Chase.

Happy Easter, Sunday, April 1, 2018

Chase wore his Christmas holiday clothes to go to church on Easter Sunday. He looked very handsome. Fortunately, Mama took pictures of Chase and posted them on Facebook because Nanaw forgot to take any pictures -- bad Nanaw. Chase had an Easter egg hunt at home on Easter Sunday morning, in addition to the one he had at Aunt Becca's on Saturday. He and Mama went to Walmart in the afternoon, and Chase selected a purple chick and another little purple stuffed animal for Nanaw's Easter basket -- very cute. Chase, Mama and Daddy came over to Nanaw's for Easter dinner with Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky, Kristie, Joe, and Nichole. Nanaw gave Chase a classic set of Legos as his Easter present. He had an Easter egg hunt, looking for 20 plastic eggs that Nanaw filled with candy. She put some in drawers, a first for her. There were lots of desserts for dinner, plus a bunny rabbit cake Nanaw bought at her church bake sale -- for $40. Kathleen Facetimed from Fort Leonard Wood, and Robbie texted Easter greetings from Tennessee.
