It was raining hard on Thursday morning but stopped when it was time to head for school. When Chase and Nanaw got to school on Thursday, they discovered Mrs. Neff was out sick. Mrs. Sullivan was going to be the teacher for the day. Mrs. Sullivan is one of Chase's and Nanaw's favorites. She was the teacher's aide in Chase's kindergarten class last year, and Nanaw got to know her when Nanaw volunteered in the class. By the time Nanaw picked Chase up from school, the weather had started to turn really cold. It's supposed to get down to 10 degrees. On the way home from school, Chase fell asleep, and Nanaw drove by the library to return Mama's library books. At Nanaw's house, Chase played with Hot Wheels on the futon. Then he asked Nanaw for an app named Drive Ahead Sports. It has a hockey game in it, and Chase was very excited about it. When Nanaw took Chase home, he told Mama, Daddy and Nanaw how he learned about the app. He said Evan told him about it and showed to him on the iPad at school. Evidently, when they have inside recess, the boys and girls get to play games on the iPad. They had three inside recesses on Thursday because of the rain. Chase asked Daddy to get the app for him but Daddy said he'd have to think about it. He said Chase has to get a perfect score on his spelling test on Friday to pay for the app Daddy let him have last week.

When Nanaw and Chase went into his classroom on Wednesday morning, Mrs. Neff came in right behind them. She complimented the class on starting their work. Nanaw said it was amazing that the boys and girls were doing their work with no teacher in the room. Mrs. Neff said sometimes they don't do their work when the teacher is in the room. That was very funny. Chase fell asleep on the way home from school so the little fellow must have worn himself out at school. He said they had chicken fajitas for lunch, and they were good and he ate all of them. When Chase and Nanaw got home, he played in his room with his Hot Wheels for awhile. Then he and Nanaw played on their computers together for awhile. Nanaw gave Chase some pretzels for his snack. Chase told Nanaw that in the evening he and Mama and Daddy were going to play hockey. He also said they were going to wear their home jerseys. Nanaw told Chase that when the weather gets nice, Mama, Daddy, Chase and Nanaw could play hockey in Chase's back yard. Chase wanted to know who the teams would be and Nanaw told him that he and Daddy would be on a team and Mama and Nanaw would be on the other team. He liked that. He said Daddy would be the goalie on his team, and Nanaw said she would be the goalie on her team. On Tuesday morning, Mr. Smart Chase did something that impressed Nanaw. Yesterday, Nanaw changed the privacy settings on the Roblox game that Chase plays. Mama, Daddy and Nanaw are concerned about the messages, etc. that the players exchange on the game. But whatever changes Nanaw made frustrated Chase enormously, and he said he couldn’t play the game. So Tuesday morning, on his own, he found the privacy setting section of the game and changed the settings back. Nanaw promised Mama she would keep an eye on the messages and make sure everything was okay. But what Chase did was quite impressive. After school Chase and Nanaw went downstairs to play school They took Chase's bag of "amamals" with them. Chase had Nanaw make "lunch cards" for him and the "amamals" -- 12 of them. Then Chase used the pointer to point out things on the US map hanging on the wall of the school room. Chase quizzed Nanaw on state capitals; the capital cities had a star by them so Chase knew which cities were the capitals.

Yay!!! Chase and Nanaw found Chase's lost coat in the lost and found. And Cole's mom gave Nanaw one of Cole's coats that no longer fits him. But when Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he didn't have his jacket or his water bottle. So they went back into the building and got the jacket out of the lost and found and the water bottle from under his table on the floor. When they got home, Nanaw changed the settings on Roblox to block Chase from chatting and messaging and that really upset him. So Nanaw promised to check the settings on his tablet when she takes him home. Meanwhile, he says he's going to wait a long while to play Roblox and maybe it will be okay then. He's such a funny boy. He played in his room with the Hot Wheels and the little blue glass pellets that he calls hockey pucks. He asked Nanaw to bring his bag of friends/stuffed "amamals" in his room and dump them out on the futon so she did.

The weather was beautiful on Sunday, and after church, Daddy and Chase played outside in the back yard, on the trampoline and playing hockey. Mama and Daddy had a Super Bowl party with Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky and Nanaw. For awhile, everybody sat outside at the WE bar and watched Uncle Mike play hockey with Chase, which Chase loved. Then they went inside to eat Mama's delicious super Bowl spread -- lots of dips, smokies in crescent rolls with cheese, rye bread pizzas, crackers wrapped in bacon, chicken wings, and football brownies. Everything was wonderful. Then everybody, including Sam and Tyler, went downstairs to watch the football game. Mama had organized a major Super Bowl Bingo game with lots of prizes from Dollar Tree. Everybody had an excellent time and won lots of fun prizes. Nobody liked the teams playing the football game but the Super Bowl bingo game made everybody pay attention to the game and the commercials -- very interesting.

Nanaw didn't go to Chase's soccer game on Saturday morning because it was at 8 a.m. and that was too early for Nanaw. Nanaw went to visit Chase around 10, and Daddy said Chase had played an excellent game and that he scored a goal and kept after the ball. Mama didn't go either because she had to work. So Mama and Nanaw decided that Chase did so well because they weren't there. Chase and Nanaw played hockey in the living for a long while till he wore Nanaw out. Then they went to his room to read a Biscuit story to Biscuit, Tee Tee and the Hatchimal twins. Chase is pretty much obsessed with hockey. Mama signed him up for skating lessons in Webster Groves starting on February 13. After he learns to skate, Daddy will probably sign him up for the learning to play hockey thing that he tried before but couldn't do because he hadn't learned how to skate. After Mama got back from the grocery store, she and Nanaw went to buy prizes for the Super Bowl Bingo game they are going to play Sunday night. Mama is having a Super Bowl party with Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky, Chase, Daddy and Nanaw. But probably nobody but Chase will watch the game because of the hard feelings about the Rams.

Nanaw set up Chase's Playdough on the kitchen counter on Friday morning so he would play with that instead of playing ROBLOX or watching hockey videos on the laptop. Nanaw is trying to keep him from having too much screen time. And it worked. He stayed away from the laptop and played with the Playdough. When Nanaw took Chase to school, she once again looked in the lost and found for his coat but couldn't find it. When she talked to Mama on the phone, she suggested that Mama post a message on the class Facebook page so she did. And somebody found the coat! We think. Nanaw will look in the lost and found on Monday morning. It was Camden's dad who responded to Mama's post, When Chase got home, he didn’t want to play with the Playdough but he stayed away from the laptop for awhile. Nanaw wanted to play the Jurassic Volcano game but she discovered that all of the game pieces were missing. She asked Mama about it and Mama said that when some friends came to visit, the two boys dumped out all of Chase's toys in the living room, and they must have dumped out the game. Mama was going to look downstairs for the pieces. Chase played hockey in the hall, and then played with various things in his room while watching the weather channel. When it was almost time for Daddy to pick him up, he watched a few hockey videos. Then he got a good idea. Daddy had promised him if he got all 10 of his spelling words right this week, Daddy would buy him the table ice hockey app that he wanted. Mrs. Neff postponed the spelling test till next week so Chase's idea was that if he could spell all 10 words correctly for Nanaw, then maybe Daddy would buy him the app. So he spelled the words correctly, and Daddy said he would buy him the app. Chase was very happy about that. When Daddy told Chase they were having Chinese for dinner, (Mama went to Katie's Golden Girls party) Chase say Yay! And that made Daddy happpy. Nanaw is not going to Chase's soccer game on Saturday because it's at 8 and that’s too early.
