Chase had his first indoor soccer game on Saturday morning. The team had its first game last Saturday but Chase was at Rockbridge. Nanaw went along with Chase, Mama and Daddy to Powerhaus to watch the game. Chase got his team shirt, a very nice maroon with his name and number, Chase 15 on the back. Chase seemed to play a little better this year than last year. He kept up with the ball more, but still not enough. He still hangs back a bit but maybe he'll do better. He boys that Chase know on his team are Connor, his brother Knox and Mason from last year's team. Chase was very happy that his team, The Fire, won its second game by a score of 5 to 3. Chase wanted Nanaw to stay awhile at his house when they got back but Nanaw said she had errands to run. Chase was going to play guitars with Daddy and then blow leaves with him. Nanaw would have liked to stay -- she loves the little fellow so much and loves spending time with him. But she'll see him tomorrow night. One of Nanaw's errands was going to Walmart. She saw cute Christmas dog sweaters there, and she sent pictures to Mama.

When Nanaw took Chase to school on Friday morning, she told him they would go to the lost and found and look for his glove. He told Nanaw she had to ask Mrs. Meyer for permission so she did. Mrs. Meyer said they didn't need her permission but Nanaw said, "You know Chase." The glove wasn't there. But when Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said, "I have good news for you. I have my glove. Maria had it." Nanaw asked how Maria got it but Chase didn’t know. At Nanaw's house, Chase played with the laptop for awhile, then he wanted to do his fishing in the kitchen sink thing again. After he was done fishing, he went back to the laptop. He asked Nanaw if she'd picked up all the toys in his room yet. Nanaw said no, but did he want to help. He said no but to let him know when it was done. Nanaw picked up the cars, marbles, fancy rocks and glass pellets. Earlier in the day, Mama had said they were going to Washy's (formerly Merz on Main) for dinner and did Nanaw want to go. They looked at the menu online, and Nanaw decided she wanted a Caesar salad. Mama and Nanaw decided that Chase would probably want the toasted ravioli. They went to dinner as soon as Daddy got home from work. And Mama and Nanaw were right about Chase's dinner selection: He chose toasted ravioli. After dinner, Nanaw stayed at Chase's house for awhile to play games with Chase and Mama. They played two games of Don't Break the Ice and one game of Scrabble Jr. It was grand fun, and Nanaw was glad Chase thought of it.

Today was Mrs. Meyer's birthday, and Chase made a wonderful card for her. It said that he loved school and he loved her. He put hearts and other stickers on the card. He was a little shy with Mrs. Meyer when he gave it to her. She hugged him and read the card and told him thank you. It was so cute. He's such a sweet little boy. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he told her that they played hockey in gym. He said he scored a goal, and his team won. He was very excited and happy about it. Then he told Nanaw he got syrup all over his coat. They had waffles and sausage for lunch, and Chase ate with his coat on and got syrup on it. When they got back to Nanaw's house, she cleaned off the syrup. Then Chase discovered that he'd lost one of his gloves. Nanaw promised him that before he went to class Friday morning, they would go to the lost and found and look for the glove. Chase played on the laptop for awhile, then he had Nanaw set up the bowl of water in the sink so he could fish. He found his toy fishing rod and fish net and caught fish in the bowl for a long time. It was very cute to watch. Nanaw took pictures of the kitchen sink fisherman and sent one to Mama.

When Nanaw took Chase to school, she carried his heavy reading book in for him. Usually, she has him carry it but today she did it for him. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he had lots of news to share with her. First, he told her about the desk buddies Mrs. Meyer gave to the boys and girls in Chase's class. Chase's desk buddy was a cardboard stand-up Dog Man. Chase told Nanaw that Maria helped him put it together. Then Chase told Nanaw he has to bring it back to school tomorrow. Then he told her that the book order came, and he got his magic kit. His books were a Humphrey Christmas book and a book entitled The Shelter. Chase was very excited about his magic kit. He and Nanaw did magic tricks when they got home. They did card tricks, a finger guillotine trick, and containers with a dice in them trick. It was a lot of fun, and Chase really likes his magic kit. In the mail, Nanaw and Mama got the Amazon Christmas toy catalog. And they're very excited about looking through the catalog with Chase and having him give them ideas for Christmas presents.

When Nanaw took Chase to school on Tuesday morning, he showed her the Dog Man book as his corner book on his desk. He was very excited to have it back as his corner book. The boys and girls in Chase's class can pick a book from their classroom library that they keep on the corner of the desk, and they read their corner book when they get their schoolwork done. On her way out of the classroom, Maria came running up to her and gave her a hug. That made Nanaw feel really good. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, she asked him what he wanted to do when they got home. Chase said he wanted to make 19 Roblox computers about weather disasters. But then he changed his mind and decided he'd play on the laptop instead. He told Nanaw she should make a Roblox game. But Nanaw wanted to do the Roblox tutorial instead so that's what she did. Maybe she'll make a game tomorrow. When it was time to go home, Chase had Nanaw download a new Bowmasters.game on her iPhone so he could play it in the car on the way home.

Mama had the day off from work so she took Chase to school on Monday morning. Mama sent Mrs. Meyer a picture of Chase with the fish he caught, and Mrs. Meyer was very impressed. She had Chase come to the front of the class to talk about the fish he caught. Nanaw picked Chase up from school in the afternoon, and she was so happy to see him. He said he had a good day at school. He told Nanaw that they played a game of sharks and minnows in gym, and then again during the third recess. He had post-it notes on his green folder; the notes had been in his locker, and today everybody put their notes in their green folder. The post-it notes had positive statements about himself, like I'm a good reader, I don't bully, I have good handwriting. When they got to Nanaw's house, they played in Chase's room for awhile. Chase dumped out the container with all the marbles, fancy rock and glass pellets. Nanaw forgot to have him pick them up but she'll have him do it tomorrow. Chase played on the computer, then wanted to make cursive books. So Nanaw got out some pads of post-it notes, and they wrote words in cursive. Nanaw didn't get to see Mama when she took Chase home because she was having dinner at Tequila's with Brady's mom and Hunter's mom.

Rockbridge: Friday, November 1 to Sunday, November 3, 2019
Mama, Daddy, Chase, Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky and Nanaw went to Rockbridge on Friday morning. Nanaw rode with Mama, Daddy, Chase, Sam, and Sylvester. The biggest and most important news of the weekend happened on Sunday morning. Chase went with Daddy to the fishing area by the Grist Mill that fishermen call the meathole, because it has so many trout there. Chase caught his first fish ever there; he cast his line, got a bite, and reeled in the trout, all by himself. Daddy gave him lessons on casting on Saturday, and Chase really listened and put the lessons to use. His casting is really good, unbelievably so. Nanaw is so proud of him. And he had such fun fishing, even in the frosty cold weather. On Saturday, there was a Fall Festival at Rockbridge, the first time it happened during the family weekend. There were about 30 vendors with crafts and all kinds of interesting things for sale. Mama bought some long-legged Christmas tree ornaments. There was also food, like mini funnel cakes, snow cones, Frito pie, and of course, kettle corn. There were all kinds of games, a bounce house, a train ride and a hayride. Mama and Nanaw went for lots of walks with Sam and Sylvester; Chase went with them a couple of times, when he wasn't fishing. It was a wonderful weekend, with lots of delicious food at the Rockbridge restaurant and beautiful weather outside, even though it was frosty in the morning.
