Nanaw went over to Chase's house on Sunday to visit him and play with him between his baseball practice and his hockey practice. Mama said he'd been playing outside and having a wonderful time. He was playing in his sandbox and also beating on cardboard boxes. Daddy was putting together a small storage shed and it was packed in a lot of cardboard boxes so Chase had a lot to beat on. He came in the house to visit with Nanaw and have a snack. Mama had him eat some grapes and strawberries before he had some of the fudge brownie bites that he loves. After he was done with his snacks, Chase and Nanaw went outside to play. Nanaw watched Chase playing in the sandbox with the wet, drippy sand, which he loves to do. Next, they played hockey. Chase had Daddy set up the nets so Chase and Nanaw could play hockey, using a little soccer ball. When Nanaw got tired and stopped playing hockey, Chase and Daddy played lacrosse. Nanaw went home because Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky were bringing over a birthday dinner for Nanaw. They gave her a wonderful birthday card and beautiful flowers. Dinner featured ribs, pork steaks, Caesar salad, broccoli salad, green beans, and a little chocolate cake Nanaw bought at Schnuck's. It was a super evening.

Mama brought Chase over to Nanaw's house on Saturday morning while she went to the grocery store. Nanaw got out the kitchen Play Dough and the orthodontist Play Dough. Chase spent most of his time being an orthodontist. He was so serious and intent about putting on braces. But he had the most fun drilling, of course. After the Play Dough, Chase and Nanaw went to the computer lab, and Chase played on the computer. He also played the recorder and the piano -- Hot Cross Buns. When he and Mama got home, they worked on his project for social studies. The third graders had to create a poster board about one of the presidents. Chase's president was John Adams, our country's second president. Mama sent Nanaw pictures of the project, and it was very cute. Students were supposed cut a hole in the poster board big enough for their faces to show through. That's what they'll do when the make their presentation. Chase played outside for awhile, in the field where Columbia is going to build a park and in the back yard. Nanaw came over for the evening. First, they had dinner -- cheeseburgers that Daddy grilled and baked beans. Chase and Nanaw started to play Weather Bingo but then it was time to go downstairs; Chase did his presentation for Nanaw. Then they watched the Disney Pixar movie Soul. Chase had already watched the movie at school on Valentine's Day but he wanted to see it again. And surprisingly enough, he really did watch it, something that's unusual for him. Mama made delicious movie popcorn, which was enjoyed by all.

Once again, Mama or Daddy took Chase to school but the lanes on Quarry Road are still open. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, she asked about his reading test. He said he got 17 out of 20 correct. Later, Mama said they also had another test about a book that Ms. Kennedy read to the class. Chase said he only missed one of those questions. After school, Chase wanted to go to the little park; he said he thought Andrew would be there. So they went. But neither Andrew nor Brady were at the little park. Chase and Nanaw waited for about half an hour in case they came, but they didn't so Chase and Nanaw went home. On the drive home, Nanaw gave Chase the croissants she'd brought along for him. He was very happy about that. At Nanaw's house, he had crackers and Provolone as his snack.  When he got home, he wanted to go outside and play with Daddy but he didn't know what he wanted to play. Nanaw will ask him tomorrow morning when he comes to visit Nanaw what they played.

Nanaw went to renew her driver's license on Thursday morning and had to wait in line for two hours. But she passed the driving test so that's good! When it was time to go to Chase's house to get the guys and the retainer and then to pick up Chase. Nanaw went over Quarry Road, and the lanes still aren't closed. They closed one lane at a time. After school, Nanaw asked Chase if he brought home his book for the reading test on Friday, and he said yes. Then Chase asked Nanaw to take him to the little park by the library because Andrew was going to be there with his roller blades. So first, Nanaw and Chase went to his house to get his roller blades. Chase had a great time skating with Andrew even though he fell down a few times. Nanaw had a good time talking with Andrew's mom. They stayed for an hour and even then, Chase didn't want to leave the park. When Nanaw took Chase home, he changed into play clothes and went outside to play with Mama and Daddy.

Mama or Daddy took Chase to school again Wednesday morning but the Quarry Road lanes still are not closed so Nanaw could have done it. Nanaw had her doctor appointments marathon today, seeing three doctors and a lab test. It was a very positive experience -- the doctors were absolutely wonderful. Nanaw was done with everything about 3 p.m. and picked up Chase at about 3:30. First, Nanaw suggested they go to the little park to see if Brady or Andrew were there but they weren't. Next, Nanaw suggested they go to the big park. None of Chase's friends were there and it was really crowded so Chase didn't want to go there. Then Nanaw decided they would drive around her subdivision to find the little playground there. They found it, and it looks really good. There are swings and lots of climbing things. There's a concrete place near the playground so Nanaw will be able to park there when they go. Chase played with Nanaw's phone and the computer. He also ate lots of saltines and cheese. He's having a little trouble with his retainer; Hopefully, he's adjust to it soon.

Mama or Daddy took Chase to school on Tuesday because lanes on Quarry Road were supposed to be closed (but they weren't). Nanaw took Sidney to the vet because he seemed sick. She couldn't find him last night but finally found him under Pawpaw's bed. He didn't want to eat or drink anything, and Nanaw was very worried about him. The vet says he has a slight infection, and they gave him several medications plus under the skin fluids. When Nanaw brought him home, he seemed better. But now he's back under Pawpaw's bed. The vet said to call them if he isn't better tomorrow. Nanaw picked Chase up from school and went to his house. Chase did his AR reading with Nanaw on his bed with the guys. A little before 4, Daddy took Chase back to the orthodontist because he bent the retainer yesterday. Nanaw stayed to visit with Mama for awhile. She got to see Chase again before she left to pick up Sidney from the vet. The orthodontist fixed the retainer and once again trained Chase on the correct way to put the retainer in his mouth and take it out.

The guys finished the deck today -- Yay! Nanaw will go pay the rest she owes tomorrow after she goes to Waterloo to take her driving test. Mama took Chase to the orthodontist to get his braces taken off. They came to Nanaw's house about 1 p.m. to spend the afternoon there. Chase has a retainer he's supposed to wear. But after a short while, he bent something and couldn't get it back in. So Mama is taking him back to the orthodontist on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Mama brought all the fixings for movie popcorn, and they all had a popcorn feast. Then they played games. They played Scavenger Hunt and Don't Rock the Boat. Then Chase got out his dominoes, and they tried to figure out how to play them. Lastly, they put together a 100 piece dog puzzle. Mama and Chase did most of the work while Nanaw watched. It was a wonderful afternoon for Nanaw -- she loves when they come to visit.
