School went really well. Nanaw is so pleased and impressed with how smart Chase is and how great he does on the school workbook pages. Sometimes he fusses about school, but he always does a good job. In the afternoon, Chase and Nanaw went to the Cliff Cave library to return library books. They returned all the books checked out for Chase because he'll have AR books from school to read. They also went to the library to turn in Chase's final reading program results. He got some kind of rocket, coupons and a Magic House ticket. Nanaw thought the library wasn't doing Magic house this year but they were and Nanaw was very excited that they could go. Chase and Nanaw went out to the car, and Nanaw called Mama to figure out when to schedule their visit. They settled on tomorrow, Tuesday, August 10 -- very exciting! Nanaw forgot to take any pictures of Chase, so she used one of his past photos.

Sunday's adventure was a trip to Uncle Mike's and Aunt Becky's house for Chase to go swimming. When Mama, Chase and Nanaw got there, Uncle Mike, Aunt Becky, Apache and Cheyenne were in the pool. Cousin Nichole came over to swim and visit. Daddy stayed home to paint Mama's new office -- soft grey. Chase had a super wonderful time swimming for a couple of hours. Then it started to storm so everybody got out of the pool. Uncle Mike grilled for dinner: pork steaks for Nanaw, hamburgers, brats and hot dogs. Aunt Becky made broccoli salad, mac and cheese and cheese garlic bread. They gave Nanaw a pork steak to take home. Mama brought dessert -- chocolate pudding pie and apple dump cake -- yum! After dinner, Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky took Mama, Chase and Nanaw on a tour of the fire damage in the basement. Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky were so lucky that they were unexpectedly home and able to take care of the fire.

Chase came over to Nanaw's on Saturday morning while Mama went to the grocery store. As always, Chase and Nanaw had a good time together. For dinner, Chase wanted pretzel bites from DQ. But Mama said they'd just had DQ. She suggested Top Shooters pretzels, and Chase was all in favor of that. Mama and Daddy had wings and meat lovers pizza. Nanaw forgot to take any pictures of Chase on Saturday so she asked Mama for some photos. Mama sent two pictures of Chase in his swimming pool in the back yard and one with his tablet at the WE Bar.

Rockbridge, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, August 4, 5, and 6, 2021
Chase, Mama, Daddy and Nanaw had a wonderful three-day trips to Rockbridge. Two things stood out: Chase caught a 2.97 pound fish all by himself, and Daddy rented a golf cart for Mama, Chase and Nanaw. It was so much fun riding around in the golf cart. Daddy caught nine trout. On the trip down to Rockbridge, they stopped at Panera in Rolla. Chase had a croissant and a cookie; Daddy had a cookie; Mama had a striped thing; and Nanaw had a bread sliced cinnamon crunch bagel and an orange scone. Their favorite waitress, Little Deb wasn't there at Rockbridge until Friday. It was really good to see her again. The food at the Rockbridge restaurant was good, as usual, especially the grilled cinnamon rolls. Nanaw bought Chase a stuffed frog, now named Froggy, and a Dalmatian puppy, now named Pongo. The weather was beautiful, cool and sunny. Chase had a wonderful time swimming in the pool on Wednesday and Thursday. It was a nice pool, and Nanaw and Mama enjoyed sitting poolside. It was a wonderful trip to Rockbridge, even though they missed Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky. It will be great when they all go to Rockbridge in November.

Chase and Mama told Nanaw that Hunter didn't come over to play last night because he had soccer practice. But the plan was for him to come over Tuesday evening. Chase played a lot of demo derby games on the computer today. Chase and Nanaw spent some time going through Chase's cars, deciding which ones to pack for the Rockbridge adventure. They managed to get them in the bag, so that's a good thing. School went well, and Chase did well on the workbook pages. Nanaw had Chase do the cursive as the last thing, and it takes him such a long time to do it. And it worked. Nanaw told Chase he could go play on the computer or tablet when he was done with the cursive. He hurried through the cursive and was very proud of himself for doing it so quickly. He said, "I'm a professional!"

Chase and Nanaw had a good day. At noon, they went to Walgreen's to buy swim goggles for Chase. They bought a three-pack of goggles for age 8 and up. Chase broke one of them on the drive home. Nanaw called Mama and asked her to buy some swim goggles at Walmart when she went after work. For lunch Chase had one of his favorites -- a TV dinner with chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. School went well except for the cursive. Chase took forever to write the paragraph about what a year is. But he finally finished. They're getting close to the ends of the workbooks, except for the math section of the big book. There's only one more work sheet in the map section. After school was finished, Chase played with his demo derby cars. Nanaw once again told Chase he couldn't take all the cars to Rockbridge because they wouldn't all fit in the bag. Nanaw brought up her suitcase and started packing. Chase was excited that Hunter want coming over to play with him in the evening.

Chase had a major adventure on Sunday afternoon. He and Mama and Daddy went to the Cardinals baseball game. The giveaway was a kid's Cardinals' baseball glove. Mama also bought him a baseball bat at the gift shop. Chase had a big bag of popcorn to eat at the ballpark. That was the only snack he had. Mama said they were sitting in the sun, and it was really hot. Her face got sunburned. Mama had invited Nanaw over for a pork steak dinner on Sunday evening, which was delicious. They also had baked beans and crescent rolls. For dessert, there was delicious gooey butter cake. After dinner, Chase put his baseball cards in the folder Mama bought for him, then showed the folder to Mama and then to Nanaw. Next, Chase got on his swimming suit and went out to his pool. He showed Nanaw all the swimming strokes he'd learned by watching swimming on the Olympics. He did really well. He said he practiced yesterday with Elias in his pool. He'll have fun in the pool at Rockbridge. After swimming, Nanaw sat with Chase while he took his bath. Then they played demo derby on the living room floor with Chase's many cars. Nanaw left for home but had to come back because she forgot her phone on the charger.
