Nanaw went over to Chase's house to visit him on Saturday morning. Mama was going to Aunt Becca's for wine day at noon so she didn't go to the grocery store. Nanaw brought the chess game with her but Chase didn't want to play. Nanaw bought two copies of Chess for Dummies from Amazon -- one Kindle and one paperback. For awhile, Chase and Nanaw sat in the living room watching cartoon shows. It seems like Chase has started watching more TV than he used to, which is a good thing. Anything to interest him and keep him away from the tablet. Chase piled a bunch of his stuffed animals on Nanaw's lap while she was sitting on the couch, and they played with them. Then they went in the kitchen and played with the slime he got from Hunter and Mason for his birthday. He really likes that slime. They buried little figures (like Captain America and Spiderman) in the slime. Chase was also making what he called "windows" in the slime. Chase still had his skeleton/candy pajamas on so Nanaw said why didn't he get dressed. They went to his room, and he got dressed. Nanaw left when it was time for Daddy and Chase to take Mama to Aunt Becca's. Mama said Aunt Becca had made taco soup for their lunch. Daddy and Chase picked Mama up about 6 p.m., and they had McDonald's for dinner.

When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he told her about the grades he got on his tests. He got 27 out of 30 on the math test; 18 out of 20 on religion and then 2 for extra credit; and 18 out of 20 for reading. So he did well. At Nanaw's house, to Nanaw's surprise, he didn't play with the tablet at all. He played with the game set and the dice and his stuffed animals. He took Curious George, baby George and Biggie home with him for a sleepover. He also took the Pokemon cards. Nanaw asked him to pick up the game set toys in his room because the cleaning lady is coming Tuesday, and he did. Both Chase and Nanaw are excited about the predicted snow. Nanaw wishes we would have a big storm but because Uncle Mike has to remove the snow at UMSL, she would be satisfied with a little storm. Mama, Daddy and Chase were going to have Imo's for dinner. Mama was going to pick it up, and she was going to take Chase with her.

Chase and Nanaw had an event on Thursday morning. Nanaw was bringing Chase's breakfast into the computer lab, and Chase was dancing around and being silly. He accidentally kicked the tray with his cereal and it went flying everywhere. Fortunately, the past couple of days, Chase has been eating his breakfast cereal without milk (that would have been a mess). Nanaw was so proud of herself for not getting angry about the mess. She got out the vacuum and swept up most of the cereal. Chase helped her get the cereal from under the furniture. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he didn't know yet what he got on his math test yesterday or his spelling test today. (Nanaw just looked up the spelling test and he got 20 out of 20 right.) After school, Chase and Nanaw studied for his reading test tomorrow. Nanaw found some multiple choice questions online, and she and Chase studied those. Nanaw sent them home with Chase so he could study them some more in the evening with Daddy. Chase found a game set in his room that he's played with for years. Nanaw bought it a long time ago for when Uncle Mike's kids came over to play at her house. Chase was sad because chess pieces were lost so they looked online and found a game set online on eBay. Nanaw asked Mama to order it because Nanaw doesn't have an eBay account. On Wednesday morning, Chase again ate his breakfast cereal wit no milk. Yesterday it was Cocoa Krispies; today it was the Minecraft cereal with marshmallows. Today was early dismissal at 2 p.m., and Chase and Nanaw went to the Magic House after school. Nanaw brought along snacks for them; Chase's chocolate milk, Goldfish, Cheez-Its, apple and radishes for Nanaw. Chase decided to wear his glasses into the Magic House. The first place they stopped was the science lab, which is one of Chase's favorite things at the Magic House. Next, they went to the art studio, and Chase played with several displays, including the new digital drawing screen. It's really cool -- you have a brush and can pick different colors of paint and paint whatever you want on a digital screen. Next, they went to the craft area and made two bracelets with sparkly pipe cleaners and beads. Chase made friends with two little boys and followed them around and played with them for awhile. Then they went upstairs to the Legos, the market, the pizza place, the library and the electric area. Chase said he had fun, and Nanaw did too. On the drive, they studied Chase's spelling words for the test tomorrow.

On Tuesday morning as they were going to school, Chase told Nanaw that they had to go to school early on Thursday morning. He said he and Brady and Cole were going to say the Pledge of Allegiance and the Mission Statement from the office. On the way home from school, Chase listened to the audiobook of one of the Wimpy Kid's book and read along in the book itself. When they got to Nanaw's house, Nanaw and Chase studied his math for his math test tomorrow. Chase didn't want to study the terms, saying he didn't think they would be tested on them. When Mama got there, Nanaw told her about it so Mama texted Brady's mom to see if Brady was going to study the math terms, and she said yes. So Mama said Chase would study the terms.  In the evening, Nanaw asked Mama how the math studying was going, and Mama said she made the bed so Daddy studied math with Chase. We'll see how it goes. Nanaw had an exciting evening: She upgraded her Wi Fi and bought a new desktop computer.

When Chase was putting on his coat for school Monday morning, he said he should probably put on his glasses so he did. Nanaw took a picture of him in his glasses, and then he added "and glasses" to the reminder note on the refrigerator about his retainer. So Nanaw took a picture of the note. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he told her than everybody had noticed his glasses. He also said that some people thought he was Drew, another boy who wears glasses. He said when he wore the glasses in class, the board was clearer. When he took the glasses off, the board was blurry. So he clearly needs the glasses, just like Nanaw did. Chase did his AR reading on the way home, even though he didn't have the tally sheet for reading. Then Nanaw helped him study his spelling words. He has four tests this week: math on Wednesday, spelling on Thursday, reading and religion on Friday. So there will be a lot of studying after school this week. Just as Chase and Nanaw were leaving for Chase's house, the Uno Attack game arrived. So they had to unpack it, of course, and Chase took the cards home with him. Daddy was going to play with him while Mama went to the Parents and Friends meeting.

Chase was up late last night because of Mama's birthday party but he still got up around 7:30. He and Daddy went to 9 o'clock mass at church in the morning. In the afternoon, Nanaw came over to play with Chase. Last night, he asked her to bring along the chess set when she came to visit today so she did. Nanaw won the first game courtesy of Chase, and Chase won the second game. Nanaw still doesn't know what she's doing with chess. she'll have to keep studying the rules. Next, they played with the Slime Chase got for his birthday. Then they played with the Akinator app for awhile. Mama came in and played the app with them, too. Mama was going to do the DNA test Nanaw bought for Sylvester but he'd had a treat not too long ago and that didn't work for the test. So Mama is going to do the test tomorrow. Nanaw left about 4:30 to do more grocery shopping and so Chase could get ready for hockey practice. Mama was going to go along to watch practice. She was going to check out a warmer enclosed space to see if you could see hockey practice from there. If there's a warm enough place, Nanaw could come along to watch practice.
