Nanaw reminded Chase to go to the Lost and Found and look for his lunch box when she dropped him off at school on Tuesday morning. He said he would. When Nanaw picked him up after school, that was the first thing she asked him about. And he had remembered. He also remembered to bring his math homework home and he'd finished everything else in class. But he said he had forgotten an envelope, and he went right back into school with no protests or anything. Nanaw told him she'd be right there waiting for him. When they got to Nanaw's house, they worked on his math homework together. The math was order of operations and Chase taught Nanaw how you followed PEMDAS: Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication and Division (from left to right), Addition and Subtraction (from left to right). They had 28 problems to do, and Chase got some wrong and Nanaw got some wrong but together they managed to get them all correct. They did one decimal problem; they're going to do one decimal problem a day until change knows decimals. This morning Mama told Nanaw how on the ride over to her house, Chase thanked her for being such a smart Mama and helping him with his homework. Then Chase said he would have to thank his very smart Nanaw also. The other day he said his math grade would be worse if he didn't have Nanaw to help him with it. Nanaw can't wait till they get to calculus. Nanaw's Christmas tree is coming down this week so Nanaw took one last picture of Chase in front of it.

Mama took Chase to school this morning and reminded him to look in the Lost and Found for his lunch box. Unfortunately, when Mama asked him about it on the pick-up phone call, he said "Shoot!" which meant that he forgot to go look. Nanaw will remind him again Tuesday morning when she drops him off at school. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school on Tuesday afternoon, he gave her a hug and said he was glad that she felt better. He said it again when they got in the car, which made Nanaw feel even better. Brady wanted Chase to go to the park and since Chase didn't have any homework, Nanaw said yes. Brady and Chase got the soccer ball out of the back of Nanaw's car and went over to the basketball court to play soccer. Brady's grandma had to leave the park early, and Brady's dad came to take over for her. Eventually, they all were at the basketball court, including Emma. Then two little boys came over and asked if they could join so they all played soccer. It was cold and windy, colder than Nanaw had expected -- she didn't wear a heavy court. Chase said he had a really fun time playing with Brady and Emma and the two boys.

Nanaw was supposed to go to Chase’s house for a lasagna dinner but she didn’t feel well. Maybe she got what Chase had on Friday. So Nanaw called Mama to tell her she couldn’t come over for dinner. She asked Mama to tell her what Chase did on Sunday so Nanaw could put it in Days of Chase. Chase and Daddy went to church, and when they got home, Mama and Chase went to Red Roof and another gas station for scratchers. After that adventure, Daddy and Chase went to Kennedy to go ice skating. When they got home, Chase went downstairs to play VR. When Chase came upstairs, he asked Mama if he had a stuffed heart. Mama said if he had one, it would be in the net. But he couldn’t find it. So he brought Lars and Dylan into the kitchen and used their hands to make a heart for Nanaw to make her feel better. It was so sweet. Mama sent a picture to Nanaw of the Lars and Dylan (and Chase!) heart. Mama said she would take Chase to school Monday morning in case Nanaw still didn’t feel well.

On Saturday morning, Mama reported to Nanaw that Chase was feeling much better and would be able to play in his hockey game at noon. The game was out in St. Peters, and the family members who were going to attend were: Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky, Uncle Chris and Elias, and Uncle Will-Bill. Unfortunately, Chase's team lost 5 to nothing but Chase said his team played well. Also, unfortunately, the coach had to yell at the team about something that happened. A complaint was lodged against the team because supposedly one of the players used a racist word to a member of another team. Chase was upset by the coach's yelling and may have cried. And it certainly wasn't Chase who had used the word. After the game, everybody went out to lunch at Mascots, a place in St. Peters close to the ice rink. Chase had tiny tacos and mozzarella sticks for lunch and ate all of it. Mama played bar bingo, a game that involved identifying music so she did really well. Nanaw came over to visit Chase after they got home. Chase and Nanaw went downstairs, and Chase played VR while Nanaw watched him on her phone. After about an hour, he wanted to go upstairs and Nanaw figured he wasn't quite 100% yet. Mama is trying to print a copy of the words for the vocabulary test on Monday that one of the moms sent her so Chase can study the words.

Friday, February 3, 2023

On Friday morning, Mama texted Nanaw to tell her that Chase was sick to his stomach and wouldn't be going to school. Chase came over to Nanaw's house and brought his tablet and only three stuffed animals: Tee Tee, Lars and Creeper. Mama brought soup, crackers, and white soda -- all good things for an upset stomach and the same things Nanaw gave to Mama and Uncle Mike when they were little and sick. Chase spent most of the day on Pawpaw's bed with his tablet. He didn't play on the computer at all, and Nanaw figured out later that it was because he needed to be laying down. In the afternoon, they watched Toy Story 4, and it was as good a movie as it's ever been. Nanaw hadn't realized that Forky was such a big part of the movie. In the evening, Mama reported to Nanaw that Chase had eaten and kept down six crackers. She was hopeful that Chase would be able to play in his noon hockey game on Saturday. Lots of family members were planning to come watch the game: Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky, Uncle Chris and Elias, and Uncle Will-Bill.

Nanaw checked Homework Central before going to pick Chase up from school. She wrote everything down in her little notebook and even printed out a screen shot of Homework Central. But then she forgot to take her notes with her when she walked from the car to the school building to get Chase. But she remembered about the English quiz tomorrow. After a huge meltdown and argument, Nanaw finally got Chase to go back inside to get his study materials for the quiz. When he came out, he said he couldn’t get his book because the door was locked but he was able to get his binder with the study notes out of his locker so that was good. Chase also had history homework. After that was done, they went through the quiz study notes. When Mama came to pick up Chase at 4:15 for baseball practice, Nanaw told Mama that Chase would have to do his AR reading at home and go over his English study notes again.

Wednesday, February 1, 2023

Chase's new haircut from Sunday's trip to Great Clips looks good. Mama asked the lady to put the instructions in the computer so they can always do it the same way. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, she told him what she'd seen in Homework Central about the narrative essay being due tomorrow and did he have all the materials that he needed. He said yes, he did. She also asked him about the Weekly Writing assignment, and he said they didn't have one this week because of the essay and because of Catholic Schools Week. On the pickup call, Mama asked Chase about another email from the computer teacher, and Chase and Nanaw said the would look at Chase's email and see what they had to do. Chase printed out his essay and got it ready to turn in. It's a really cute essay about his 11th birthday. Hopefully, he gets some credit for it. Mama told Nanaw that she and Chase played with the Wii Sunday night and had great fun. When Nanaw took Chase home, he and Mama made plans to play with the Wii again after dinner.
