Monday, December 24, 2012 - Christmas Eve

Mama and Daddy had to work part of the day on Christmas Eve so Chase, Sam and Nanaw went to Nanaw’s house. They went on a last-minute Christmas shopping trip to Waterloo Walmart. In the evening, everyone came to Nanaw’s house to celebrate Christmas Eve and have a turkey dinner with all the trimmings. Chase got lots of presents, including a new talking puppy Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky (now named Chico) and a bright red Cardinals’ piggy bank, and a Christmas bear, two movies, a camouflage hoodie and a Jingle ornament from Nanaw.

Chase’s big adventure on Sunday was the birthday celebration for cousin Mike and cousin Kristie. First, Mama, Chase, Nanaw and all the grandkids went to Walmart to shop for birthday and Christmas presents. Chase, as always, was an excellent shopper and seemed to enjoy watching the other shoppers. After the shopping trip, they all met up with the rest of the family at Cici’s for dinner. Chase ate lots of pizza, garlic bread and desserts. Then it was back to Nanaw’s for cake and ice cream.

Nanaw came to visit and take pictures in the morning. Chase had on a cute new sleeper with a big puppy face. He played with his balloon again and cried when Mama had to put it away. Around noon, Mama, Daddy and Chase went out to Troy, Missouri for Chase’s cousin Mallory’s birthday party. Mama said Chase was a good boy and seemed to enjoy himself. In the late afternoon, Daddy and Chase went to Mass. Then in the evening, Aunt Kristen and Uncle Chappie came over to visit and brought pizza for dinner.

Friday, December 21, 2012

On Friday morning, Chase and Nanaw went to the Clayton Laptime, and once again, Chase seemed to have a really good time with the other boys and girls. He also seemed to enjoy sitting next to the Laptime teacher and listening to her sing. Mama had the day off, so when Chase and Nanaw got home, they went to KFC for lunch. Chase had a little chicken sandwich, which he ate with delight. After lunch, they went to Party City to buy things for Chase’s birthday party. Then they went to Sam’s to buy a car seat for Nanaw’s car because Chase has outgrown the one he’s currently using. In the evening, Mama, Daddy and Chase went to visit Jackson and his Mama Jen and Daddy Joe and went to dinner at a Mexican restaurant. Aunt Jen bought a beautiful birthday cake for Chase, and he got a new outfit and a set of golf clubs and a blanket and play masks. Mama and Daddy got a birdhouse, plus other things.

Happy 1st birthday, Chase! Chase’s birthday kicked off several days of adventures. For his birthday breakfast, Chase, Mama and Nanaw went to the new Dunkin Donuts on Telegraph Road. Mama got an assortment of munchkins (donut holes, as Nanaw calls them) and Nanaw got a coffee cake muffin. Chase seemed to really enjoy his first taste of chocolate, plus all the other delicious flavors. After breakfast, they went to Walmart to order the cake for Chase’s birthday party on December 29. When the bakery lady found out that it was Chase’s birthday, she gave him a cookie, which he really seemed to enjoy. Mama took Sam to the groomer, and then for lunch, they went to the McDonald’s in Columbia, where Chase had his very own hamburger, Nanaw had a McRib, and Mama had Chicken McNuggets. For dinner, Daddy, Mama, Chase and Nanaw went to Steak n Shake. Chase had a slider and seemed to like it a lot. He also had applesauce, French fries and a taste of Daddy’s strawberry-banana milkshake. Before the food arrived, Chase accidentally knocked over a glass of water, so there was major clean-up. After dinner, it was present time. Chase got a wonderful Mickey Mouse clubhouse playville with a tunnel. He also got a bag full of new clothes so he’ll be even more stylish than he currently is. From Nanaw, he got a book, "Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed," a camouflage robe and a Dream-Lite puppy that puts designs on the ceiling. Mama baked a yellow cake with chocolate icing for Chase’s birthday cake and bought him a Mickey Mouse balloon that Chase played with a lot.

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Today is Chase’s cousins Mike Jr. and Kristie’s 21st birthday – Chase will get to celebrate with them on Sunday. In the morning, Chase spent time downstairs in his activity chair watching the Disney Jr. channel while Nanaw was on the treadmill. Chase seemed to have fun jumping up and down in the activity chair as hard as he could and making a lot of noise. Mama suggested that Nanaw get out some of Chase’s toys from the toy boxes in his room so he’d have new toys to play with – he played with a giraffe who had a monkey on his back, a musical lion and musical lamb, a frog and Pinocchio.
In the afternoon, Chase and Nanaw went to Waterloo Walmart for Christmas shopping, and they bought Mr. Tom Turkey for Christmas Eve and Christmas night. Sam’s toy of the day was his monkey.

Tuesday, December 18, 2012

Tuesday was filled with adventures and errands with Chase wearing his new Team Santa shirt. First, Chase and Nanaw went to Laptime at the Tesson Ferry Library. Chase seemed to really enjoy hearing Miss Lisa read the Christmas books, especially "Merry Christmas, Spot," so Nanaw checked it out of the library for him. For the first time, Chase did a lot of walking around the room interacting with the other little boys and girls after the stories and songs were finished. Before this, he mostly crawled but now walking seems to be his chosen means of movement. After Laptime, Chase and Nanaw ran a lot of errands to the health food store for Nanaw’s vitamins, the bank for Christmas gift money, the post office for stamps and Hallmark for Christmas and birthday cards. At Hallmark, "Sticky Fingas" tried to make off with a little black and white stuffed puppy. As Nanaw was pushing the stroller out of Hallmark, she looked down and saw the puppy on Chase’s lap. Fortunately, he didn’t put up a fuss when Nanaw returned the puppy to the shelf. When Mama got home from work, Chase, Mama, Sam and Nanaw went for a walk to look at Christmas lights. One of the houses had the most humongous display ever. Sam’s toy of the day was an unstuffed fox.
