Mama and Daddy were off work today for Martin Luther King Day. It was really cold outside so there was no walk for Sam and his family. In the afternoon, Chase, Mama and Nanaw went on an adventure. First, they took some of Chase’s clothes to Goodwill. Then, they went shopping at Walmart in Waterloo, Nanaw’s favorite. Nanaw came over for a delicious dinner of beef stroganoff that Daddy fixed – yum!

Chase went to church with Daddy this morning and wore khakis and his red and white striped polo shirt with a long-sleeved shirt underneath for the Will look. In the afternoon, Chase, Daddy, Mama and Sam went for a walk along their regular route, not the long 50-minute walk to the park at the library. Later, Nanaw came over to play with Chase and take photos of him for Days of Chase. Chase and Nanaw played with the garage, and again Chase did his new trick of rolling his arms, like in patty-cake – still very exciting.

On Saturday, Chase, Daddy, Mama and Sam went for a long, 50-minute walk to the park at the library. Then, in the afternoon, they picked up Nanaw to go to Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky’s house for the fish fry dinner (trout from Rockbridge). We also had home-made chicken nuggets, pasta with white sauce, green bean casserole, pineapple upside down cake and slutty brownies (chocolate chip cookie dough topped with brownie mix and frosting). Chase seemed to have a great time playing with Mr. Inchworm and the Leggos that Uncle Mike and Aunt Becky gave to him. Chase started doing a new trick of rolling his arms, like in patty-cake – very exciting.

Mama had the day off today so there were lots of adventures for Chase, Mama and Nanaw. In the morning, Chase and Nanaw went to the Clayton Laptime while Mama went shopping at Penney’s. She bought Chase an 18-month sleeper for spring and summer. At Laptime, Chase wore shoes, which slowed him down a little, He did a little more crawling than usual but finally seemed to get used to his shoes enough to zoom around the room. Nanaw carried him out of Laptime rather than putting him in his stroller because she knew he would cry. For lunch, Chase, Mama and Nanaw went to the new Wendy’s on Lindbergh, close to Best Buy. It was very crowded but the food was delicious and worth the wait. After lunch, they went shopping at Bed, Bath & Beyond, Kohl’s and Party City, where Mama bought Chase a Rams mylar balloon, much to his delight. Then they went to Babys R Us where Mama bought Chase a flannel sheet so he’s warm at night and a cover for the faucet in the bathtub so Chase can’t hurt himself on it. Their last stop was Dollar Tree where Mama bought Valentine decorations for her desk at work. When Daddy got home from work, Daddy, Mama, Chase and Sam went for a walk.

Chase had two adventures today: a shopping trip with Nanaw and an afternoon walk with Mama and Sam. In the morning, Chase played downstairs in his tunnel and activity chair and also upstairs in the living room with all his toys. For breakfast he had a banana, cereal with fruit and Cheerios. For lunch, he had Dino nuggets, peas and cheese cubes. For snacks, he had more Cheerios. In the early afternoon, Chase and Nanaw went to the Telegraph Road library and Walmart. At Walmart, Nanaw showed Chase the wall full of television sets, and he seemed fascinated by them. He did his usual act of charming the sales clerk and the customers behind us in line. Everyone kept saying how cute and happy he is. When we left, he waved bye-bye. When Mama got home from work, she took Sam and Chase for a walk, and we think Chase really likes going for walks – Sam definitely does. Sam’s toy of the day was his Christmas Santa sock monkey.

Chase had a quiet day at Nanaw’s house, playing in various places: his room, downstairs in the Pack N Play, in the kitchen in his bugaboo chair and in his high chair. For breakfast, he had fruit and cereal; for lunch, he had green beans and cheese cubes; for snacks, he had Cheerios and yogurt pellets. Chase is a good eater and easily feeds himself finger foods. It seems as though he’ll eat anything that we give him. While he was playing in his room today, he managed to get hold of the tube of Desitin, and that turned into his favorite thing to carry around with him – a room full of toys and he plays with Desitin – go figure!! Aunt Theresa came to take Mama to dinner at Tequila’s, and she brought presents for Chase: jeans and four shirts. Yay!

Chase’s adventure today was Laptime at Tesson Ferry Library, where Miss Lisa is the leader. Chase spent a lot of time clapping after each song and book –he’s really good at clapping and seems to really like doing it. For breakfast, Chase had oatmeal with apples and cinnamon and some cheerios; for lunch, he had Dino nuggets and sweet potatoes. For his afternoon snack, he had cheese cubes and Cheerios. He and Nanaw played in his room, and once again, he cleared the books off one of the bookshelves – but this time he even put a couple of them back.
