Clayton Laptime was the adventure of the day. Chase saw his friend Emily, who was interested in identifying the colors of the carpet squares, and met a new friend Alex, who’s the son of Amy, a friend of Mama’s from work. Chase did his running around and not sitting on Nanaw’s lap except when she captured him. The library is closed next Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday so there won’t be any Laptime. Chase and Nanaw will have to find a new adventure. Mama has the day after Thanksgiving off but she’s going to be putting up Christmas decorations. Daddy gets off work at noon so Nanaw will only have Chase for half a day.

Chase’s adventure today, in addition to running around Nanaw’s house and sitting in the shower, was going to Walmart to see all the lit-up Christmas trees. Every time he sees the decorated and lit trees, he says "Wow!" After Walmart, Chase and Nanaw went to Chase’s house to see Sam and give him treats. At "school," Chase and Nanaw watched the rest of "Cars." Chase seemed to really like it – at the moment, cars and trucks are the toys he plays with most. He also did some of his new flash cards from Ben Franklin: he’s really good at saying airplane, apple, ball, duck and cat.

Chase is 23 months old today! He and Nanaw had a quiet day at home because it was rainy and cold outside. Chase and Nanaw played for a long while in his room, and he invented his own track to run cars and trucks on by turning over one of his toys – very cute. It took a long time for Chase to take a nap – he spent more than an hour in his crib, chitter-chattering to all his stuffed animals – but he finally fell asleep. At one point, he took off his jeans and his diaper, and Nanaw had to get him dressed again. He spent time playing with Nanaw’s iPod – it may be one of his favorite things to do – second only to playing outside.

Chase had two adventures today: the first was going to Babygarten and the second was visiting an interesting Ben Franklin store in Belleville that Miss Annette at Babygarten told Nanaw about. Today was the last time for Babygarten until January. Miss Annette is going to do a session on Mondays, and Nanaw signed Chase up for it. Chase is going to be a busy fellow in January with something to do every day with story times and Laptimes and Babygarten. Chase sat on Miss Annette's lap for story time and then did his usual running around the room during Babygarten, but he did come back and sit on Nanaw’s lap several times. After Babygarten, Chase and Nanaw visited Sa, and then went to the Ben Franklin store in Belleville. It was huge, several stores combined into one. They had a large selection of unusual toys, old-fashioned and clever. They also had things for crafts and for decorations. Nanaw is going to take Mama there someday.

Chase’s adventure today was going to a place he’s never been before: the Marketplace grocery store in Columbia. He seemed delighted with all the Christmas decorations: two Christmas trees, a Santa and lots or ornaments hanging from the ceiling. Nanaw took several pictures of him in front of the tress to send to Mama. After Marketplace, Chase and Nanaw went to Walmart, and Chase got to smile at his friend Joe, one of the Walmart greeters. At Walmart, Nanaw bought the movie "Cars" for Chase. After his nap, Chase and Nanaw went for a walk, where he insisted on removing his cute raccoon gloves, and then to "school." At "school," Chase and Nanaw watched "Cars," which Chase seemed to really like. For a snack, Mama sent a package of cookies that you dip in jelly – Chase is quite the excellent dipper and ate every last bite. When Nanaw took Chase home, she went for a walk with his family – in the dark.

Chase’s big excitement for the day was that the gusting winds blew down his swing set. Daddy took him out in the back yard so he could see it lying all over the ground. Chase didn’t know what to make of it and stared at it for a minute before he went over to investigate. Then he started to crawl around it as if it was a new toy his Daddy had put out there for him, Fortunately, Daddy says the damage isn’t as bad as it looks, and he’ll be able to fix it. Earlier, Nanaw came for a visit and the whole family went for a walk.

Chase’s big adventure today was going to his second cousin GJ’s 4th birthday party with Nanaw. There were about 10 boys and girls there, and Chase seemed excited to have other children to play with. In addition to GJ, there was his cousin Mila and his cousin Sam and lots of GJ’s and Mila’s friends from school and pre-school. GJ’s basement is filled with toys like a toy wonderland and the kids all went down there. Chase played with GJ’s dad’s guitar but his favorite thing to play with seemed to be Mila’s really cool kitchen. It was the "Cadillac of toy kitchens and had a stove with burners that lit up when he turned the knobs and that delighted him. He also liked pushing the shopping cart around and making Batman masks at the crafts table. Chase found some of GJ’s cars and "Crash!" Mila really liked playing with Chase. She carried him around and called him "cutie-baby." The kids, including Chase, went outside to play for awhile. Most of them went in the bounce house but Nanaw kept Chase out because the boys were really rough – maybe next year for Chase. After the party, Chase and Nanaw went out to check out the A-frame, and Chase ran around in the leaves.
