When Nanaw picked Chase up from school on Thursday afternoon, he said he had his study materials for the reading/English test and the social studies test tomorrow. Nanaw asked him if Connor and Drew had talked anymore about the newspaper and he said no. He said he bought another candy cane. They called Mama but she didn't answer so Nanaw left a voice mail. On the way home, they went to the cemetery first to check whether the wind blew Pawpaw's flowers all over. But the flowers were fine. On the drive to the cemetery, Chase did his AR reading. When he was finished, he played with the tablet. Nanaw had brought both of them. At Nanaw's house, Chase watched Curious George before starting his studying for tomorrow's tests. When Curious George was over, they began studying. Chase wanted to study with Daddy but Nanaw said he had to study with her and with Daddy. Mama called and reinforced that. Chase finished writing the answers on his social studies study guide and then Nanaw had him answer the questions for her, twice. He did fairly well. Nanaw found some questions online for the reading/English test and sent them home with Chase for Daddy to go over with him. Mama was out having dinner in Waterloo with Aunt Becca.

When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, she asked if had brought home the materials to study for his two tests on Friday -- social studies and reading/English. He said no he hadn't. But Nanaw said maybe they could find something online for him to study when they got home. Chase bought a candy cane for Nanaw today at school with his "spare cash." Chase did his AR reading and watched Curious George. He said he was supposed to write the Christmas Special for the Immaculate Conception Times and maybe he'd do it at school tomorrow. He told Nanaw that Cole is the cartoonist. That's what Chase wanted to be but maybe sometime in the future he can. Nanaw set up his Chromebook on the dining room table and he started studying the regions of the United States. Nanaw brought in the laptop and quizzed him on the regions. Then Nanaw found some questions about the story they'll be tested on Friday -- "Me and Uncle Romie." Nanaw will look for some more questions to quiz Chase on tomorrow after school. When Nanaw took Chase home, he told Mama and Nanaw that when Brady and Cam asked him what to get him for his birthday, he told Brady a Fortnite Nerf gun and he told Cam a remote control car.

Chase and Nanaw left a little earlier than usual. As they were driving to school, Chase said, "Nanaw, you don't have to rush because we're early." He must have looked at the clock. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he said he had religion and math homework. He said he would do the religion homework at Nanaw's house and the math homework at his house. As they were talking to Mama on the phone, Chase said, "Breaking News!" Mama and Nanaw asked him what the breaking news was. Chase said Connor and Drew are going to start a newspaper, and he was going to be a writer. He said he wanted to be a cartoonist but they already had too many cartoonists. He said they were thinking about calling the newspaper the Immaculate Conception Times. Mama and Nanaw can't wait to see the newspaper. Chase did his AR reading even thought he doesn't have a reading log this week. He also did his religion homework and then he watched Curious George and other PBS programs while playing with the tablet. Then he decided he wanted to wear his Jason mask and Nanaw took pictures of him.

Chase brought along Jimmy the polar bear from the Shrine this morning. Chase really likes Jimmy.  When Nanaw picked Chase up and called Mama, Mama asked him if he had any money to buy candy canes. Chase said he found spare cash in his backpack and bought a candy cane. Mama asked him he needed more spare cash, and he said yes. LOL Nanaw asked Chase if he had any homework, and he told he thought he didn't have any. Then old religion came along, and he has to look something up in the Bible. He said he brought his Bible home, and he was going to have Daddy help him with his homework. Mama was going to the Parents and Friends meeting tonight, and Daddy was going to fix cheeseburger macaroni and Chase was very excited about that. Nanaw found a sweater for Jimmy, and Chase said it was beautiful. When Nanaw took Chase home, he asked her to stay while he opened his toy advent calendar. He got a little top or maybe a Jewish dreidel. The first tow pictures are from the Shrine visit last night.

Sunday evening was a very special event for Mama, Daddy, Chase and Nanaw. Jackson's grandma scheduled a carriage ride to see the lights at the Shrine's Way of Lights for 10 people, and she included Nanaw. They got there early and bought kettle corn to eat -- the other food wasn't available. They saw the camels giving camel rides but didn’t do it. They went into the petting zoo, and Jackson and Chase fed the carrot pieces to the goats and camels -- it was very cute. Nanaw was very cold and sorry that she forgot to bring s blanket. But Chase said he would share his blanket with Nanaw. When they got to their carriage, they learned that their horse's name was Jimmy. (The other two were Ronnie and Grace.) Jackson brought two apples for the horses. Jimmy ate one whole one and then half of the other one. The other half went to Ronnie. Nanaw had a bit of difficulty climbing into the carriage but eventually got herself seated. Jackson's mom brought extra blankets so Nanaw got one, plus some super-duper hand warmers that Nanaw shared with Chase. The lights were wonderful and so was the carriage ride. At one point, the driver had Jimmy gallop up a hill -- very exciting. On the way out of the Shrine, they got to see all the lights again. They gave a donation to the Shrine, and Chase got a polar bear for the donation. He named the bear Jimmy Jr., of course. Jackson named his bear Jimmy also.

Mama brought Chase over to Nanaw's house on Saturday morning while she went to the grocery store. For a long while, Chase and Nanaw played with the kinetic sand. Chase was doing his latest favorite thing -- red light, green light -- with the kinetic sand. In the afternoon, Mama, Daddy, Chase and Nanaw went to Uncle Mike's house for his annual Christmas party. It was a wonderful party as always. Nanaw brought along some of Chase's Hot Wheels, and he played red light, green light with them on the living room floor. Uncle Mike's cat Tucker came to visit, and Nanaw took a picture of him. Tucker was very friendly to Nanaw and no longer hisses at her like he used to. The food was wonderful, and Chase and Nanaw ate lots, especially the sweets. They went downstairs, and Chase played ping pong with Nanaw, then with Daddy and then with cousin Joe. He had a great time and wore himself out. He started playing with Nanaw's tablet, and Nanaw decided to do the software installation on his that would allow the installation of the Google Play Store. There are lots of games on there that Chase wanted on his tablet. Nanaw got it installed, and then ordered an SD card for her tablet.

Mama and Daddy both had the day off on Friday so they took Chase to school, then had breakfast at Washy's. Then they went to Dick's to buy a new treadmill and to Bass Pro to buy a Christmas present for Chase that he saw there and really wanted. Nanaw got trapped for an hour in a funeral procession traffic jam when she was on her way to the gas station and the library. When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he was in a really good mood. He said he had no homework for the weekend, and that made him happy. At Nanaw's house, he wanted to play in his room and watch Curious George. He decided to make some games so he asked for a TV table, paper, crayons and a scissors. He spent lots of time making all kinds of games -- it was really cute, and Nanaw was impressed with his creativity. Mama picked Chase up at 4:40 to take him to Walgreen's to get his second COVID vaccine shot. Mama said it was difficult again but at least it's over now. Chase and Mama went to Sonic after the shot at Walgreen's to get take-out for dinner.
