When Nanaw picked Chase up from school, he had several things to report. He said he’d tell Nanaw the bad thing first. He said he was playing kick ball in PE and he hurt his arm in the same place he hurt it last night in the baseball game. He said the band-aid didn’t come off. He said the PE teacher was really nice about it. He said his teacher told him he was resourceful when he had to charge his Chromebook and then remembered to take it home. Another thing he told Nanaw that he drew a picture for the art teacher and she hung it up. At the pickup place, the troublesome classmate invited Chase over to play ROBLOX. Chase said no and walked away. Chase and Nanaw had a fun afternoon together. The played with two sandbox apps on their tablets. Then the went outside and played baseball and watered the plants. Back in the house, they watched Jeopardy — Chase really likes that game. He told Nanaw they’re going to watch it the rest of the week and then during the summer. Chase wants to go to the library on Friday when he gets out of school to check out more books and get something out of the vending machine.

Chase got 24 out of 28 on Monday’s math test. Mama and Nanaw were hoping for something better. He did so well on the review and studying. Chase had an eight o’clock baseball game on Monday night. Nanaw decided to go watch the game, her first one this season. It was cool outside so that was good. Mama and Nanaw sat with Mama’s friends and that was fun. For several innings, Chase was the catcher, and that was fun for Nanaw. She was sitting up close to where Chase was catching. He got a couple of really good hits. Unfortunately, he scraped his left arm when he slid into third base. They took him out of the game for a few minutes and put Brady in as a pinch runner for him. The next inning he was back in the game, playing third base. It was a really good game but Chase’s team lost.

Chase and his baseball team played two games in a tournament Sunday morning in Cottleville, Missouri. The team won one game and lost one. Chase pitched three innings in the game they won and so he got the win. His friend Hunter came over to play with Chase at three and stayed till six. They played video baseball games and the wiffle ball outside. Mama said Chase was so happy to have Hunter there. Mama made brownies for the boys. Nanaw came over for a lasagna dinner. It was delicious! After dinner, Chase and Nanaw played baseball with Chase’s key chain figures on the Gascar chair. Then they studied for Chase’s math test on Monday. He knows the material so Nanaw is expecting him to do well on the test. The pictures are of Chase filling up and shooting his water gun. Mama is going to buy new water guns for Chase and cousin Elias to take on the Florida vacation.

Chase was supposed to play two games in a baseball tournament in O'Fallon, Missouri Saturday morning but the games were rained out. Nanaw came back from the little house in the afternoon and went over to visit Chase. Because she had forgotten to study math with him on Friday afternoon, they studied for his math test on Monday. Chase is currently studying geometry, which Nanaw really likes so she had lots of fun with the studying -- Chase not so much. He really didn't want to do it and sometimes didn't cooperate much. But he seems to know most of the material. When Nanaw goes to visit tomorrow, they can study again. In the evening, Mama, Daddy and Chase went out to O'Fallon, Missouri to Rock and Jump for Elias's birthday party. Mama sent Nanaw some pictures of Chase jumping and having lots of fun. The first picture below is of Chase's 4th grade class. Nanaw recognized everybody but Katalina and Lorelei.

Mama had the day off on Friday so she took Chase to school. When Nanaw picked Chase up, he told her he got 29 out of 30 on his reading test. He was in a bad mood and didn’t want to go to the library and Dollar Tree. The went to the library but not Dollar Tree. At the library, while Nanaw printed out the Aspenhof directory, Chase went into the children’s area and picked out two books. He also went to the bathroom by himself. Nanaw activated his library card, and he checked out his books by himself. He had discovered the vending machine was in business again. He picked out some fruit bursts. Nanaw forgot to study math with him so they’ll do that tomorrow afternoon when Nanaw goes to visit Chase. Mama called Nanaw to tell he that Chase finally told her what was wrong. She said he was sobbing about it. He got in trouble with the teacher today. He and the bullying boy made a noise, and the teacher made them walk laps. Then the other 4th grade class did something to get punished, and Chase's class was punished also. So that's why he was in such a bad mood. Chase was feeling better Thursday morning and ate his whole breakfast. He gave Nanaw another preview of tonight's band concert, playing the songs on his recorder. After school, Chase and Nanaw studied the questions for his reading test tomorrow. He missed three of the questions, and Nanaw reinforced the correct answers for him. Uncle Mike came to cut the grass, and Nanaw visited with him before he started working because she had to leave at 5:25 to take Chase home to have dinner. They had to be at school at 6:15 for the band concert.  His friend Hunter came over and had Domino's pizza with Chase and rode to the concert with Mama, Chase and Nanaw. The concert was excellent. All of the performers did a super job. The 4th graders didn't do any squeaking on their instruments. Daddy couldn't come to the concert because he went to visit Grandma Pat in the hospital. On Wednesday morning, Chase said he didn't feel well but he still wanted to go to school. He ate only his applesauce for breakfast, nothing else. When Nanaw picked him up from school, he said he still didn't feel well. Mama asked what he ate for lunch, and he said he ate some of the Mexican Haystack, the cinnamon roll and the pears. At Nanaw's house, he had a popsicle and some M&Ms. Chase and Nanaw studied his questions for his reading test on Friday. He did really well. In fact, three of the online questions had the incorrect answers, and Chase insisted his answers were the right ones. So Nanaw read the story and discovered that Chase was correct: His answers were the right ones. Nanaw changed the answer she prepared for Mama so Mama would have the correct answers. Tomorrow night is the Spring Band Concert, and Nanaw is very excited to see Chase play the clarinet. Chase practiced all his songs on the recorder and the piano. He has a baseball game tonight at eight -- really late for the little kids. The first picture below is the peony bush that Pawpaw planted at the side of the house.
