Chase and Nanaw went for their morning walk on Thursday, and Chase chose to go the kitten way. Unfortunately, the kitten was nowhere to be seen. Nanaw gave Chase a menu of lunch possibilities and had him circle his selection. Nanaw sent Mama a picture of the menu, and Mama thought that was hilarious. Chase says he wants to see the menu again tomorrow so he can make Friday's lunch selection.  At school, Chase and Nanaw once again did lots of math: multiplying and dividing decimals and fractions and also more equations. Nanaw is determined to have Chase learn those things well by the end of the summer. He's really good at the English worksheets on grammar, parts of speech, and vocabulary. There's a huge amount of math and English worksheets free online, and Nanaw is taking advantage of them. They're almost finished reading The One and Only Ruby and will soon start reading The One and Only Bob. They also plan to watch the movie The One and Only Ivan on Disney Plus. Chase has a group chat with his baseball team on his phone and seems to be having a great time with the messages. Mama took him to baseball practice tonight.

There were sprinkles of rain on Wednesday morning so Chase and Nanaw didn't go for their walk. Chase took a bath at Nanaw's house because it was really late when he got home last night from his baseball game. The game was a blowout: Chase's team won 15 to 3. Chase had a hit and a walk. During his bath, Chase played water hockey and had a great time. For lunch, he had a little Michelina's spaghetti dinner, which he really liked so Nanaw put it on his grocery list for Mama, along with the two lunchables he had this week: the chicken dunks and the deep dish pizza. He also had cauliflower as his nod to healthy eating. School was great today; Nanaw really enjoys it, and she thinks Chase does too. Nanaw gave him his first equation of the summer to solve. She also had ChatGPT print out instructions on solving a two-step equation, plus instructions on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing mixed fractions. Nanaw loves ChatGPT, her new online toy that knows everything. Chase did more decimal and fraction problems, and Nanaw did them along with him.

Chase and Nanaw went downstairs on Tuesday because it was the day for the cleaning lady. Nanaw took all their school things with them so they could have school down there. Chase also took a tablet and Nanaw's old phone, which they call the car phone because that's where Chase plays with it the most. They spent about five hours downstairs, waiting for the cleaning lady to come. But the cleaning lady never came. Nanaw texted the office to find out what happened, and it turned out that there was a car accident and that's why the cleaning lady didn't come. Mama texted Chase to see if he wanted to go to a Cardinals game on Sunday. Daddy is playing golf, and Mama wanted to have a mother-son adventure with Chase. Chase said yes he wanted to go so Mama bought tickets. School went well; Chase says he thinks he's doing a little better with decimals but Nanaw plans for him to study them all summer. He did a geography section today, using the big world map on the wall of the schoolroom downstairs. Chase has an eight o'clock baseball game tonight, and Mama took a picture of Chase in his uniform for Nanaw.

Nanaw had a dentist appointment on Monday morning so she took Chase to his house while she was gone. He took along one of his Lunchables -- a deep-dish pizza one that he really liked. When they got back to Nanaw's house, Chase said he wanted to make the mac and cheese he and Mama bought at Schnuck's. Nanaw put the water in the container for Chase, then he put the pasta in a bowl and stirred it. He put it in the microwave for three minutes, then stirred it again. Next, he put the cheese seasoning in the pasta and stirred it for three minutes. The pictures below show Chase making the mac and cheese and then shows the completely empty bowl after he ate all of it. School went well even though Chase was very tired from his baseball tournament weekend in Alton. In the evening, Nanaw went to Chase's baseball game in Affton at 6 p.m. It was a wonderful game with wonderful weather. Chase got a double and then scored. Unfortunately, Chase's team lost the game, but the boys had fun, and that's all that matters.

In the morning, they went to a hotel-provided breakfast. Mama said the breakfast offered eggs, bacon, toast, bagels, biscuits and gravy, yogurt, fruit and a pancake maker that made pancakes. So Chase had pancakes. Chase and Daddy didn't like the bacon because they thought it was too chewy. They won their baseball game in the morning so they had another game at two in the afternoon. They lost that game so they headed home. The first picture below is a team photo that Mama posted on Facebook. Mama came over to Nanaw's house around four to pick up Sam and Sylvester. Mama had really missed the dogs, and they missed her, too. Chase said Nanaw should come over to visit him at 5:30 so she did. Daddy and Chase played Wiffle ball with Chase's new strike zone that he got as a reward for his great end-of-the-year report card. Nanaw sat outside and watched them play. It was great fun seeing Chase get so many hits. When they went inside, Chase and Nanaw played baseball with the guys on Chase's bed. That was great fun also. Nanaw left when the Pizza Hut delivery came, delivered by Door Dash.

Mama took Sam and Sylvester for a walk early Saturday morning, then took them over to Nanaw's house for their sleepover. Mama, Daddy and Chase headed to Alton for Chase's baseball tournament and their sleepover in the Best Western Hotel. Unfortunately, Chase's team lost their first game, 8 to 3. Sam and Sylvester were happy to see Nanaw when she returned from the little house. They were even happier to get lunch meat and bacon treats when they came in from outside. Mama sent Nanaw a picture of Chase and his friend Cole standing near a field in Alton, with other boys out in the field; they were all playing Wiffle ball. In the evening, Nanaw went over to Chase's house to visit Tyler because he didn't get to come to Nanaw's for a sleepover. She gave him kitten treats, lots of petting and lots of brushing. Mama said the boys on the team all went swimming twice yesterday and had a great time, while the team parents socialized. The hotel was hosting a wedding and couldn’t provide food to all of them so they had lots of Domino Pizza. Later in the evening, Mama sent Nanaw a picture of Chase in his jammies.

Chase and Nanaw had a good day together on Friday. After breakfast, they took their morning walk. They turned right instead of left and then right again. Chase had decided it was okay to go the way that the little kitten lived and that they would protect it from traffic if it went out into the street. But there was no little kitten to be seen. Chase and Nanaw were both sort of disappointed because they wanted to see the kitten again. School went well except for decimals. Nanaw thinks it will take all summer until Chase is really good with decimals but they'll keep trying. As for state capitals, he's remembered about half of them so they'll keep working on those, too. The Ruby book is due back at the library on June 6, and they still have about 80 pages to go. So they may have to keep it out a few days longer than the due date. Then their next book is The One and Only Bob. Tomorrow morning, Mama, Daddy and Chase are going to Alton for a baseball tournament. They'll stay at the Best Western Hotel Saturday night with the other team members and parents. The hotel has an indoor swimming pool, and Chase is very excited about that. Nanaw won't get to see Chase tomorrow, and Mama is going to send her photos and information for Days of Chase.
